On Wednesday, they haven't even posted it yet according to Royal Mail

I know it's only a day; but it concerns me that they say they have despatched it & they haven't (apparently)

Is this a Royal mail hiccup or have I made an enormous mistake?

It's capped so I only pay £2.50 more.......& she gets cut off I think

I'll get my brother to set it up so it only updates at her digs/college/home - he's better than me

That's great Smile

KatyMac · 05/09/2014 22:55

It arrived - it looks beautiful

But the left hand side of the screen doesn't work

I am not very happy

oh dear - you will need to open a not as described case and send back fully insured for a refund.

KatyMac · 06/09/2014 05:59

What a bugger!

Do I give them a chance to sort it out or just return it?

I feel such a fool

OP posts:

yes you can contact them first - but only return to the address eBay give you - and I would recommend My Hermes, do not use standard signed for with RM.

Missunreasonable · 06/09/2014 07:49

Return it by a tracked and insured method. Open a case and get a refund then get an iphone brand new on a contract.
I know the grandparents have paid for the phone and therefore you just wanted to get a phone but if you save the £200 and use it to top up the current monthly payments you can probably get an iPhone 4S on a contract.
I pay £15.99 per month for my iphone on contract. For that I get unlimited texts, 500mins and 250gb data. I can buy extra data as a bulk add on but I don't need any extra.

Appletini · 06/09/2014 07:50

For future reference, only buy from sellers with 100% good feedback. Many people have it and it's not "dodgy"!

KatyMac · 06/09/2014 12:01

I think if I had sold 29,000 somethings I wouldn't expect perfect & 99.3 seemed realistic.

I stuffed up

OP posts:
KatyMac · 06/09/2014 13:40

Yes they will refund it

They want me to buy a second phone & send this one back for a refund - I think I'd be a mug to do that

OP posts:
Jacksonville14 · 06/09/2014 14:00

why are you blaming yourself?

Nope - I would send it back fully insured, ask them to pay that too, and buy from a shop or phone contract. No risk.

KatyMac · 06/09/2014 14:09

I can't find one in a shop & I can't afford a contract as DD already has a contract that won't run out for more than a year

OP posts:
Jacksonville14 · 06/09/2014 14:14

you could cancel the existing contract?

This is more or less same price

www.o2.co.uk/shop/prepaysims/apple/iphone-4s-8gb-black/

or here

giffgaff.com/apple/apple-iphone-4s/phone-plans

Jacksonville14 · 06/09/2014 14:15

and if you are with Tesco you could prob upgrade her existing contract - have you spoken to them about this?

shop.tescomobile.com/pay-monthly/mobile-phones/apple/iphone+4s+8gb/tariff?deal=15688&colour=black

KatyMac · 06/09/2014 14:17

They are only 8gb & she needs min 16 ideally 32 & if I was being nice 64(I'm not nice Wink)

Contract will cost a fair amount to cancel well over £100 as I have to pay it all

OP posts:
Jacksonville14 · 06/09/2014 14:18

well you aren't going to get one for your budget then I guess

Jacksonville14 · 06/09/2014 14:19

but if you pay off the existing contract it is minus the vat isn't it.

KatyMac · 06/09/2014 14:24

Now if I could pay £12 a month for just the phone (24m = 288) & £5 insurance & keep her existing contract - I think I'd be OK

OP posts:
Jacksonville14 · 06/09/2014 14:25

why are you paying the insurance of £5? Doesn't your house insurance cover it?

KatyMac · 06/09/2014 14:27

No phones are excluded

OP posts:
KatyMac · 06/09/2014 14:27

Unless it gets damaged as a result of a fire/flood/burglry at home
