I am selling a eco friendly leather boots mint condition on eBay. The only bit on it is £0.99.
Item finishes soon and the bidder messaged me asking if I am ok to wait for payment in one week time.
Really???
I know there are p&p costs involved, but if you don't have money to pay asap, just don't bid.
I honestly don't know what to reply.
Of course I could wait, but this person is taking the piss.

The postage cost was suggested to me by eBay.
I have no idea how much it will cost but they are a bit heavy.
And tracked postage is not cheap.
I doubt I will make any profit on postage and those boots worth so much more.
My sister bought for herself and never used it. Gave to me but too small and not my style anyway.

I have sent an untracked item once and the buyer claimed they never received ( and I suspect they were lying) but I had no option and refund.

Tell her you expect payment within eBay policy.

It could be that the bidder has changed their mind and wants you to say 'no I will not effin' wait' so that they can say they want to withdraw their bid then.

Ebay can be a strange place sometimes.

yup postage is extortionate - you could courier those for not much more than £4 via MyHermes or Collect +.

Also, you should have items ending at 8.30-9pm, and start at more than 99p on a free listing weekend so you will earn more money if only 1 bidder.

and you are not supposed to make any profit on postage btw.

I had a buyer email asking to wait for payment. I didn't see any harm in waiting and she did this after she'd won the item. I am not a pushover, my buyer only had to pay £6.60 in total but the potential buyer in your case hasn't done anything wrong in asking. She may be waiting for pay day. If it doesn't suit you just say no and let her withdraw.

So the boots were sold but I am not happy with the price. Can I refuse to send it? Buyer hasn't paid yet, should I tell her not to pay.
I am not experienced on selling on eBay just buying.

you can refuse to sell them but will probably get a negative and reported as a non performing seller. High postage and ending at wrong time of day ensure low selling price unfortunately.

No just because you're not happy doesn't mean you shouldn't send them! You should if had a reserve in that case.

Why did you start the bidding at 99p if you didn't want to sell them for that? It's a risk you take if you start with a low price. If you are not prepared to sell something for 99p then don't start at that price.
You would be very unreasonable to cancel the sale just because you didn't get the price you wanted.

Because I don't have experience selling, because I thought it would be a big hit with people fighting for it and because I didn't know the postage was so high. The boots are not light and I am sending recorded delivery. eBay suggested me the postage price £8.

DrOwh, if you wanted a set price for the boots then you should have started them at a price you were happy with.

Personally if you refused to sell to me I'd report you as a non performing seller (which will earn you a strike) then leave you negative feedback and 1 star across the board.

Unethical and downright nasty to refuse to sell because you didn't start at a price you wanted!

£8 is ridiculous and probably the reason why you didn't get many bids. A lot of people will be put off by excessive postage and add the postage into their price (99p plus your postage makes the purchase cost £8.99).
You should weigh your stuff and go into Royal Mail / Hermes to get an accurate postage price.
