Last thread full so starting new one.
Still time to make a few quid before Christmas.
Could be good for those unwanted presents after Christmas! Grin

Well, I phoned Ebay re laptop and I can't do anything but communicate with buyer until it's escalated to eBay to resolve. Buyer has stop messaging now since I mentioned serial number and security markings. I wish I knew which way it was likely to go Sad . PayPal have put my account to a minus balance to withhold the refund value Sad .

I posted 2 more parcels at lunchtime today, and I sold a DVD last Wednesday that I am still waiting for payment for. Judging by the buyer's feedback I am not holding out much hope of getting payment, so opened a case after the minimum period of 4 days. To make matters worse that DVD was the one I sold at the end of December that I didn't get paid for - I am beginning to think it is jinxed!

Do you think it will be Free Listing this weekend? Or do you think they'll do something bigger over English Half Term? Last year they seemed to do extended Free Listings over any major holiday periods...

Tortoise - any word about your laptop? I have various bits and bobs I was hoping to sell for spares or repairs, but am a bit nervous following your experiences.

Purple Nothing yet. No messages from buyer but should hear something by the end of the week.
I've sold spares or repairs before with no problems.
Just make it extra clear in the listing Smile

Oh Lord, Tortoise, just came to read your thread and I see your story. That's really crap.

I do have things to sell this February - remainder of some outgrown ski stuff -which should be ok (you'd think) but are the ebay nutters everywhere now?

Good! I was hoping for one! I have a mental list of things I should look for to list. We are mostly free this weekend so I should be able to get a reasonable number of "new" things photographed and listed. Smile

I closed my non-paying bidder case last night, and offered the DVD to the second highest bidder with a 1-day time limit. I will re-list that as well if she doesn't take it.

I also need to be realistic and sort out a bag of things for the charity shop. I have some things to list on freecycle/freegle as well - things that are not in good enough condition to sell, but it seems a real shame just to throw them out. I really need to start getting on top of all the clutter soon.

No news on Laptop yet. I guess I have to wait for buyer to escalate to a claim? I can't remember how it works.

I have a few new bits to add over the weekend. Good to see flw. Grin

Re-lists plus some newly listed items.
Hopeful that some of the newly listed bits will do quite well. Smile

I re-listed 7 items on Saturday. I had intended to sort out some new stuff on Sunday but had a really bad headache so didn't get very far. I did do some sorting and de-cluttering but that mainly produced things for the recycling, not eBay!

I have read the new Royal Mail list on prohibited items. Is it now saying that you cannot send batteries with used toys etc.?

Bloody Ebay. They have decided in favor of the buyer of the laptop. Angry Sad
I'm going to phone Ebay and see if I can appeal although I expect buyer will send it back pretty quickly.

if they bother to send it back I guess? Could you resell it if it comes back?

Report
Tortoise · 13/02/2013 15:10

Pretty sure they will. Yes can re-sell but still be out of money Sad . Its just so annoying when it was listed as faulty so it shouldn't come as a surprise that it doesn't work!
I'm also worried bits will be missing/swapped. I stupidly didn't note down serial numbers.

I wouldn't be surprised if they switch parts or even the whole laptop. Hope I am wrong though

Tortoise · 13/02/2013 15:35

I hope not but it does worry me. I did tell them I had the serial numbers and that parts were security marked.

Bit disappointed, only 2 of 36 items sold last night.
DS1 is on at me about pricing his Lego too high Hmm. But I think it was just a bad night (hope so anyway).

Batteries not with used toys is useful, Tortoise, but what do you do about soft toys that come with non-replaceable sound boxes? Confused

Tortoise · 16/02/2013 10:16

lljkk It wasn't me that said about batteries Smile Only info I've seen on that at post office is if sending outside of UK.

Hi, sales still only trickling for me, too, we'll have to just hang in there.

I have a buyer from AUSTRALIA. Bloody Ozzie These items tend to only sell to foreigners but I don't remember saying Aus was okay in my options list, argh. She has suggested £9.50 for postage and I am requesting £16. That isn't even signed for rate (£22). Item value only £10. I am holding my breath to see if she pays.

The way I have packed the item (fragile) I could chuck it down the stairs a few times and it wouldn't break. To get the weight down to postage only being £9.56 (under 600g, item itself is 300g, I think that's what she wants) I'd have to cut the packaging to minimal. Not happy with that.

Weanh.

I think so tortoise
I only sold one item out of over 40 despite a few watchers.

I would stick to my guns over the postage to australia is it still covered for damage or loss without the signed for ? And I would take pictures of the packing in case she claims damage and then the packing comes in to question. Good luck.
