Last thread full so starting new one.
Still time to make a few quid before Christmas.
Could be good for those unwanted presents after Christmas! Grin

Oh no. I didn't know negatives meant you were charged on flw.

lljkk · 27/08/2013 10:28

Tortoise, I thought you were one with a business & a private account?
Have you had a msg to say you've had selling restrictions?
I am afraid I'll get sudden selling restrictions or ban even, with no warning.

PurpleFrog · 27/08/2013 10:37

Bakingnovice - one negative does no harm, but a combination of things can push you "below standard". My one "1 star" has given me a rating of 1.12% on dispatch time. If I go over 2% I will go below standard. So, if I don't sell anything for a few months I would soon go below standard without doing anything! (Ratings are based on 12 months transactions, and the number of ratings involved would steadily decrease, giving me a higher percentage for my measly 1 star.)

It is a crazy system.

PurpleFrog · 27/08/2013 11:48

Actually, ignore some of my last post, it turns out that the percentage only applies if you get more than 2 low ratings in that category.

Tortoise · 27/08/2013 15:35

lljkk yes I do have 2 accounts. This is my private account and no I didn't get any warning or message about it.
Only discovered when trying to list a few bits yesterday and got charged for each one as start price above 99p.
I remember how long it took to sort it last time so I'm not happy.

There are some good threads on Ebay disc. boards how to protect your f/back. This seller is basically doing nothing wrong, but she needs to learn tricks of the system.

Bakingnovice · 29/08/2013 22:35

Lots of watchers on my items but no bids. With 48 hours to go. I'm not holding my breath.

PurpleFrog · 29/08/2013 23:29

Bakingnovice - lots of people snipe at the last moment, so don't panic yet, lots of watchers are good. I put my stuff on for 10 days, so the listings finish on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings next week. Surprisingly, I have bids on 3 already, and watchers on 2 others. However, the bad news is that my NPB never did pay and I closed that case tonight.

Bakingnovice · 30/08/2013 08:37

Oh I have a non payer too. I checked her feedback and its all 100% apart from the last two where items sold didn't turn up. I'm now wondering if the buyer is poorly or dead as it all seems v odd.

alemci · 30/08/2013 08:52

i've found ebay very slow lately. my selling of stuff isn't very sucessful even though i start at low prices etc. is it just me?

Tortoise · 31/08/2013 17:09

I have a buyer in Greece who has just let me know that they will pay Monday or Wednesday next week. Item ended Tuesday! Cheeky buggers!
Need to put some bits on soon to try and get my account back to normal.

OP posts:
Bakingnovice · 02/09/2013 13:06

10 out of 20 items sold a d everyone paid. Am pleased although some of my stuff is selling soo cheap. Never mind. Better that someone gets use out of it.

Does anyone know when the next free listing is?

SNOWBall4girlz · 02/09/2013 13:50

Well I am back starting to sell again but again I am below standard. Not listed since the middle of July but have had a few people leave great feedback in August.
Tortoise I think someone left all 1's for me in June/ July with positive comment and feedback it is very annoying. if I am wrong or I sold something shabby (which I never would do on purpose) then I would accept it but not to know why is so annoying.

My ratings are high and the percentage I am out was over 2% but now just over 1% so have to wait for my next evaluation :(. Fingers crossed back to normal and get some stuff sold in the run up to Christmas.
Good luck with your selling.

alemci · 02/09/2013 13:57

yes i've found people dont leave fb and I can't be bothered to pursue it, maybe they dont like item.

is it 10% on postage. bit cheeky I feel

Bakingnovice · 05/09/2013 12:04

Do the new rules luck in this week regarding eBay taking a cut of postage fee? Also does anyone know when the next free listing is? I don't get any emails from them.

Tortoise · 05/09/2013 20:37

I'm not happy about the Ebay taking money out of the postage. Seems really unfair when postage is already expensive now we lose part of that too.

OP posts:
PurpleFrog · 05/09/2013 21:23

I've sold 5 items this week. The 2 that were sold last night (4th Sep) have been paid for, but have not (yet?) been charged 10% on postage. The new charges were supposed to come in from 4th Sep but I can't find any more info than that. They can't take the FVF from the postage as soon as the auction finishes, as it depends which service the buyer chooses. So, when will it be done?

However, I have one buyer with zero feedback from Tuesday night who, despite putting in lots of bids in the evening, has not stumped up. I have a bad feeling about her...

PurpleFrog · 12/09/2013 09:33

Well - my NPB did get back to me and paid by Postal Order - one fewer thing to worry about.

I got 4 new items on at the weekend, and 6 re-lists. I have just discovered it is also free listing tonight for 10 day auctions. If I had known earlier I could have got some more stuff ready. I'll try to get some photos done as soon as I get home and get some bits on tonight.

Tortoise · 13/09/2013 19:18

Well, I can't take advantage of the free listing Sad.
Maybe I should do some relists at 99p.

OP posts:
PurpleFrog · 13/09/2013 20:43

That's a shame, Tortoise. Are you making progress with getting your account back up to standard?

I got 6 items listed last night. Someone from China has already bid on one... and I don't accept bids from countries I don't post to - sigh!

On a brighter note I have now got over 500 feedbacks and have a shiny purple star. Grin

Tortoise · 15/09/2013 20:18

TBH I haven't listed much which I know doesn't help.
I did make £40 at car boot sale this morning though Grin.

OP posts:
Tortoise · 19/09/2013 22:29

I've list a few bits mainly starting at 99p. Got a few watchers. Best one is a girls fat face coat with 18 watchers. Just hope they all bid!

OP posts:
PurpleFrog · 20/09/2013 10:31

That sounds promising, Tortoise.

I sold 2 bits of clothing on Sunday, so got more for them than I would have got from my Clothes4Cash bag. I currently have 5 items listed to finish on Sunday - and three already have bids. Grin I did have 6 but one was pulled by eBay for "have violated eBay's Trademark Violation"... sigh! I will have to investigate what I did wrong.

PurpleFrog · 01/11/2013 13:46

I was away for a week in the middle of October and missed a couple of free listing opportunities because either the listing or "parcel dispatching" windows were at the wrong time. But, I've got back into the swing of things now and have 16 items listed Smile. Some are book bundles that I had been saving for the pre-Christmas period. I'm going to be a bit more ruthless now and if things don't shift after a couple of goes, I will send them to charity.

I really need to get on top of the clutter before the end of the year. How is everyone else doing?
