Last thread full so starting new one.
Still time to make a few quid before Christmas.
Could be good for those unwanted presents after Christmas! Grin

lljkk Are they saying it's not as described? It sounds like you were honest in the listing. Ebay can be so frustrating. You don't have to offer return postage and if they claim through ebay for a return they can request postage label from ebay.

They are claiming it's completely unfit for purpose. That say it's in a "Shocking" state, etc. There's no bit of damage that isn't shown clearly in the pictures :(. Eg: They say the metalwork is shocking (it's grubby & scratched, but not bent or broken). The fabric is shocking (grubby with small tears, as stated in listing). It's an item that sells for £400+ new & buyer paid £156+partial postage.

DH is away but just messaged "Blimey, I just read your original listing - the list of faults is huge! It's absurd for the buyer to complain about the condition, when it's pretty obvious that it's well used."

I think I need hand-holding by Fergoose, an objective person to tell me how to proceed. Ebayer has said to tell buyer to escalate & Ebay will direct them what to do (they return at their cost). I can't see I'll come out of this without a Neg, though. :(

Think that I will never again sell a well-used item on Ebay except as "For spares"

fergoose · 31/05/2013 21:03

I think in light of your description you have a very good case for winning a case - stranger things have happened. Difficult without seeing the listing but you seem to have listed all the faults, etc. What is the item? Have they bought another and now this is buyers remorse?

I would write in the case that you described all faults clearly and with photos, and wear and tear is there, but it is still fit for purpose despite the listed flaws.

I guess if you get it back you may be able to resell for more money?

Don't worry about one neg - it is just a little red dot on a website.

lljkk · 31/05/2013 21:38

am going to pm you, Fergoose, hope that's okay.

lljkk · 02/06/2013 10:48

update... Friday evening I msg'd buyer to say best if he went to Resolution Centre to formally open a case (I gave him the link!).
Yesterday he msg'd back to say Thanks, he would open a case.

Still hasn't opened a case.... Hmm. Why not?!

PurpleFrog · 02/06/2013 10:59

Probably because he hoped you would refund all/part of his money and tell him to keep it! Hmm

Fingers crossed for you.

lljkk · 02/06/2013 11:05

I have done exactly that when it was a cheaper item, but this is too much money to let it go.

I found out I could have posted it for £14, though, with insurance, that was gut-wrenching! Ebay has a special deal worked out with ParcelForce for very large items. Worth knowing for future reference.

lljkk · 05/06/2013 13:53

FLW this weekend.

PurpleFrog · 05/06/2013 14:17

Great! I think... Grin

I still can't get particularly enthusiastic about eBay at the moment. I sold 3 small items from the last FLW but I really need to get on with the de-cluttering and sort out some large items. dd has found some more summer clothes that are too small, so I should at least try to get them washed and listed this weekend.

Tortoise · 05/06/2013 18:37

I've listed a few bits starting at 99p over the last few days. Got too much stuff piling up, need rid of it!

OP posts:
lljkk · 06/06/2013 19:40

Oh Fig, my case still rumbles on.
Buyer is completely clueless about his rights, it leaves me with quandries, including moral ones, about what to do.
He finally opened a case (only days after I told him to).
I've told him to contact Ebay Customer Services about return postage questions (he hasn't done that).
I wonder if I ignore him then maybe nothing will happen, he isn't able to read my listing correct OR raise a case properly thru Ebay. Or maybe he'll pursue me thru small claims (no, not that, he's definitely not clued up enough for that).

I think if I retreat into the mantra of "I will refund after you return the item" that he will never get around to it. He only has the organisation skills of a gnat, after all.

Tortoise · 07/06/2013 12:47

lljkk Oh dear. I hope it's resolved soon.
I've got a buyer hassling for feedback! They have sent me 3 messages so far on the item, last message all in caps saying Please leave feedback. Now received a 4th message but on a current listing saying please leave feedback for the bag I bought from you.
The more I'm hassled, the longer I leave it lol! Also tempted to reply that feedback is optional. Grin

OP posts:
fergoose · 07/06/2013 13:31

I refuse to leave any when folk hassle for it - so rude & demanding aren't they

Tortoise · 07/06/2013 14:02

Very annoying! And to message on a live listing really surprised me. I've never had that before!
So shall I reply or ignore?

OP posts:
PurpleFrog · 07/06/2013 14:16

I would be very tempted to email back saying that you are not going to leave feedback as sellers can no longer leave negative feedback for rude buyers who hassle them! Grin (And block him from buying again.)

PurpleFrog · 07/06/2013 14:16

... but I probably wouldn't do that!

lljkk · 07/06/2013 15:48

Just leave feedback that Ebay will have to delete like "Transaction was fine but nagging for F/B afterwards was strange"

SNOWBall4girlz · 07/06/2013 17:43

Oh Tortoise I know people who chase feedback can be annoying.
Sorry about your disorganised buyer lijk hope it all sorts it self out.

And purplefrog get them washed and listed this sun might be good for sales ;)
I have just finished editing my auctions here

i am still under performing and excluded from FLW despite all my stars being at 4.8/9 its about percentages ??

PurpleFrog · 07/06/2013 19:20

SNOWBall - that's a pain! All my stars are either 4.8 or 4.9 as well, but I see from the info that I appear to have been given one 1 or 2 for dispatch time, despite the fact that I have posted everything on the 1st or 2nd day after payment! I also seem to have had one "Removed low detailed seller rating" in the "Actions we've taken to protect you" section on the Seller Dashboard page. I assume these are two different low ratings. Sigh! I think I'll try and work out who left them.

I can see how you can very easily get on the wrong side of eBay with only a handful of awkward undeserved ratings.

PurpleFrog · 07/06/2013 20:34

Bloody hell - I have now found the item I was awarded a 1 for dispatch on. The item finished on the evening of Wednesday 22nd May, and I posted it 2nd class on the afternoon of Friday 24th May. I even sent a personal message telling her it had been posted and warning her it was a holiday Monday so it would be with her by the following Thursday at the latest. Grrr.

Fingers crossed that eBay spot that rating and pull it!

Fairygen · 07/06/2013 20:53

I recently had someone message me complaining that they hadn't received their item from me and they were 'getting a bit fed up waiting'.

Item ended saturday pm and was posted Monday 9 am, I got the message Monday lunchtime!!!! Stupid woman!

Then, she left me amazing feedback Confused

PurpleFrog · 07/06/2013 21:19

I think by the time some people leave feedback they have forgotten the finer details of the transaction. They conveniently forget that they took 5 days to pay, then mark you down on dispatch time etc..

Actually, Fairygen, your story reminds me of a sale I made about 8 years ago. I sold something on a BIN to a buyer in the US. He purchased it at around 11.30pm our time, then sent me an irate email a couple of hours later saying that was was unacceptable that I hadn't yet contacted him about it! Confused

lljkk · 08/06/2013 10:57

For Frith's Sake... Trailer buyer wants me to refund him the full £££ I have agreed to refund before he sends item back. I truly believe he thinks this is reasonable procedure. I patiently explained that I have no comeback if he never sends trailer, whereas Ebay has frozen his payment to me so so I can't get any of it back without his agreement (slightly technically untrue). Basically I am having to explain to him his rights every step of the way. Which is wrong when our interests are so much in conflict.

I keep telling him to contact Ebay CS to understand the procedure, but he declines (speech impediment?)

fergoose · 08/06/2013 11:28

well - sorry but can sod off to the far side. Never ever refund before return - do they really think you came down in the last shower.

They have opened a case but not escalated it? I would just ignore him now tbh and wait for ebay to sort it out, or for the case to close and expire.

lljkk · 08/06/2013 11:38

Think that is good advice Fergoose :).
