Last thread full so starting new one.
Still time to make a few quid before Christmas.
Could be good for those unwanted presents after Christmas! Grin

I agree - cannot believe ebay refunded with no tracking proving delivery

I guess small claims against buyer may be your last resort?

lljkk · 19/06/2013 19:39

thx for the msgs. It turned up today. Just in from work so I will leave opening it & checking it for tomorrow. I'm guessing that the tracking number Buyer sent to me was one digit off a real one(?).
I am glad you said that about getting fees back, Tortoise, I will ask :).

lljkk · 20/06/2013 10:33

FLW this weekend. Usual T&C.

PurpleFrog · 20/06/2013 12:22

lljkk - thanks for the heads up about the FLW. Where are you getting this info? I guess I am still looking in the wrong places. I'm glad you got your trailer back. Fingers crossed you can get the Final Value Fees refunded. Your experiences and Tortoise's are putting me off trying to sell anything large/expensive that is not in A1 condition.

I still have some cameras, Nintendo DS etc. that I am hoping to sell for spares or repair. I'm not sure I can be bothered with the potential hassle, but the hoarder in me is refusing to take them to the recycling site!

lljkk · 20/06/2013 16:18

My informer is Moneysaving expert, their carboots-Ebay-Jumble sales forum. Those people are obsessive. I need to sell to, in a way, only thing that makes me declutter.

Sorry to put anyone off :(.

I got caught out especially badly because it was such an expensive thing to courier and I didn't know Ebay had a special deal worked out with Parcelforce for very big items (It is literally the only good postage deal Ebay offers). I would have saved £20 if I had known about it.

Checked trailer over, seems the same. Can't decide whether to relist it on Ebay or not. Trying to sell it anywhere else seems preferable. I will try very hard to never buy on Ebay again, myself.

Ebay livechat not contactable, claims it's not currently 5am-10pm PST Confused.
Ebay CS phone line claims to not known my home phone even though I just checked & my home phone was already listed as my primary contact number for Ebay. (Sigh).

PurpleFrog · 20/06/2013 17:08

Ok - I'll start looking at Moneysaving expert instead of eBay's Seller forums. Grin

eBay is good when everything goes smoothly, but not so good when there is a problem!

Yes, eBay is my main method of guiltless de-cluttering! I'll try to make a start on some items tonight in preparation for the FLW.

lljkk · 20/06/2013 18:08

Back to my case.... remember I appealed because they refunded before item had even been returned. Their reply to that is

"We're sorry there was a problem with this transaction. However, after further review, we have confirmed that you didn't provide a valid delivery address for the buyer to return the item to you."

Isn't my selling address on file with Ebay, why did I need to supply it again? No one ever asked me for a valid delivery address, I believe that they issued the Buyer with a prepaid postage label, what address did they use? I've even checked my spam filters and there's nothing in there about "Buyer would like to return to you what is your delivery address" type msg.

I found a valid tracking number at least, though. If I go to my selling page it's one of the fields displayd there next to the original completed listing (which still shows under sold items and is even counted as part of my last 60 day total ££ Confused). The correct tracking number has never been supplied to me anywhere else.

How wrong did I get this?!

I got onto the Chat system today to ask for a refund of FVF but pretty fast they referred me to their Resolutions centre. Remember that the phone system refuses to let me me thru. I hold out exactly zero hope of getting the FVF back.

Sorry if I'm dumping here, DH is prone to depression & I can't share hardly any of this with him.

fergoose · 20/06/2013 18:18

bloody hell - I have no words! How can they be so incompetent. So they pretend you didn't provide a delivery address and then refund all of the cash?

i think you need to take this further - is it worth writing a thread about it on the ebay community sellers board - loads of very experienced folk who I am sure will be able to help?

lljkk · 20/06/2013 19:05

Can I ask you something, Fergoose, is it normal after a SNAD case that Buyer-Seller still leave f/back for each other? That seems bizarre, I just didn't expect it.

I did get the item back, somehow.
Glad you're outraged on my behalf, Fergoose.
I hope my story serves as a warning to others, at least.
Folk aren't joking when they say that Ebay doesn't give a damn about sellers.
I'm sure if I try to embarrass Ebay corp. they'll just ban me as a seller & am not really sure there's any merit in that.
I swear I'm telling truth (to best of my knowledge).
I even checked my email spam filters to see if something was in there I had missed (there wasn't).

fergoose · 20/06/2013 19:19

I dunno about the feedback, I guess it depends on the buyer. They may be kind and leave nice feedback or they could be buggers and leave awful feedback and stars. I know if I were you I would not be inclined to leave them any.

Is it worth trying to sell it on gumtree, for cash?

lljkk · 20/06/2013 20:06

I didn't realise they'd have the option to leave FB at all (just like I didn't realise Ebay automatically keep the FVF). I knew I was well and truly &^%$ed as soon as they started complaining, just not how thoroughly.

Tortoise · 20/06/2013 20:10

I had the same issue with contact number. I still got to speak to an adviser though so it's worth persevering to get fees back. Live chat are pretty useless in my experience!
At least you can reply to feedback if they leave negative.

OP posts:
lljkk · 20/06/2013 20:12

How did you get thru on the phone? The system said that my phone number wasn't right... I guess I can try to experiment.

Must master SarahTigh's talent at damning-with-faint-praise fback, too.

Tortoise · 20/06/2013 22:11

I'm sorry, I can't remember. I think I had to put in case reference number or something. With my phone number, they were reading it out to me missing out the first number of dialling code. The right number is on my account though! Very weird!

OP posts:
lljkk · 21/06/2013 20:48

Thx anyway. I had predictable msg from CS to say that I would not qualify for FVF refund because Buyer escalated the case. But I shouldn't be discouraged. Oh, and because I had agreed to refund before escalation they have done something so that my Seller Dashboard isn't affected.

They're so generous and kind, aren't they? Hmm :(

lljkk · 21/06/2013 20:48

Tell you something, working for Ebay CS must be a truly Shit job.

Tortoise · 22/06/2013 07:14

Had another message from Mr feedback chaser! A month and still no feedback! All in caps. I wonder how long he will keep this up?

OP posts:
fergoose · 22/06/2013 08:11

Have you told him if he is so desperate for it you will gladly neg him for hounding you for VOLUNTARY feedback (sorry about the caps).

Tortoise · 22/06/2013 09:01

I haven't replied yet. He's the buyer so probably knows I can't neg. I've never had anyone so desperate for feedback!

OP posts:
roosterroo · 22/06/2013 19:23

Must be in the air - Ive had buyers asking me to leave feedback 'so they can archive'
free listings have taken forever slow internet and ebay but here they are:

its now wine oclock (ver gene hunt)
Smile

lljkk · 22/06/2013 20:12

Does he need positive f/b to raise his positive %, Tortoise? Has he been neg'd as a seller, maybe? I've read something about sellers having to get positive % back up to be able to keep selling (the rules about keeping up seller performance are strict & complicated)

Tortoise · 22/06/2013 20:34

No, he has 502 feedback 100%. I managed to schedule 5 items out of a pile of stuff! Lots can probably start at 99p so not too worried.

OP posts:
PurpleFrog · 27/06/2013 09:01

Any progress on the fees front, lljkk? Fingers crossed....

I have 17 items listed after last weekend - 9 are totally "new", 1 is a bundle of things that had previously been listed separately and the rest are straight re-lists. Listings finish on Sunday or Tuesday evening and I already have one with a bid and 5 other items with one watcher each. I am not counting my chickens... yet!

Tortoise · 27/06/2013 09:55

Either I have a load of crap listed on both accounts or ebay is quiet at the moment! Over 100 listings, about 3 with 1 bid and very few watchers.

PurpleFrog · 27/06/2013 10:21

Well, I think this may well be my last lot until after the summer holidays. I managed to get most of the summery stuff listed. I really need to spend my time more effectively and get on with the general de-cluttering. I have some toys and book I am keeping until October/November to list and hopefully will have more stuff to join it by then.
