Post your listings and questions here. The purpose is to raise money for Christmas and I'll start by showing my (so far) meagre listings here

dizzyday07 · 23/09/2011 21:42

MCFOD - I think we have a little Santa softie somewhere that nobody will notice if it goes missing Wink

And I think I've won a scrabble jigsaw game thingy off someone on here Hmm

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 24/09/2011 18:02

Some of my items end tonight. Don't think any will sell. Most have no watchers or just 1 watcher!

DecapitatedLegoman · 25/09/2011 09:46

I'm sure they'll go in the end Tortoise :)

I've been pondering something. If you have a desirable item to sell, eg kids snowsuits just now, you're probably best to advertise them early in the evening. I've noticed that towards the end of an evening some of the, for example, snowsuit hunters, have won an auction already and so there's less competition for the remainder. I've benefited from this phenomenon as a buyer but want to avoid it as a seller Grin

Haven't had time to read thread but do have yet another question! Potential buyer contacted me asking for a combined items price. I went back with a price for 1st class recorded as 2nd class recorded wasn't available. She has come back asking for a price for 2nd class, not recorded. Would I be unreasonable not to offer unrecorded postage - it just feels safe posting items via recorded delivery ... or should I give her a price and cross my fingers? Items end in an hour ....

Thanks!

MustControlFistOfDeath · 25/09/2011 19:55

I would give her the price for 2nd class unrecorded, but tell her that although you will obtain proof of postage you cannot be held responsible for items lost in the Royal Fail Mail. Its up to her then.

Millie1 · 25/09/2011 20:01

Thanks MustControl. 2nd class isn't an option at all - it must be down to packet weight. 1st class standard mail is only 70p cheaper. Grrrr

fergoose · 25/09/2011 20:01

Send recorded - you are always responsible regardless of what it says in your listing.

What buyer will not claim for a missing item just because the seller says they are not responsible?

DecapitatedLegoman · 25/09/2011 20:09

So do you all send recorded then? I never have Blush but I have unerring faith in good old ROyal Mail!

Haven't got round to listing anything else tonight Angry painted half of the external wood instead. Might stick my sling on just so something's on the go next weekend ... happy selling :)

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 25/09/2011 20:13

Millie - just tell the buyer that due to combined weight the only P&P option you can offer is recorded 1st class and send an invoice to that effect. Unless the total value of the items is under £4 in which case I'd personally take the risk and post standard 1st or parcel post. You can always send a combined invoice with a number of different P&P prices but if this is of higher value I'd only offer recorded/trackable.

OP posts:
DinosaursHateUnderpants · 25/09/2011 20:16

I only send recorded for higher value items that the Royal Mail don't cover with COP. In over 6 years of selling I've only had 1 thing not arrive and then claimed with the COP from Royal Mail - took a while, about 4-6 weeks, but I've not been out of pocket.

I'd never send anything over the COP value limit as non-trackable/signed for though.

Here are my new ebay listings

More to go on tomorrow night.

DecapitatedLegoman · 25/09/2011 20:20

Sorry Dino, searching the RM site but no joy - what's COP?

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 25/09/2011 20:37

Sorry, Certificate Of Posting that they give you for standard 1st. 2nd and standard parcel post.

I had some listings end tonight and 2 out of 3 sold. They only went for about £4 each but that is better than the zero I would get otherwise. It does all add up as well as my total is over £80 now. One didn't sell so I have relisted it.

I have a buyer who won an item on the 16th of Sept but still hasn't paid yet. I contacted her and she said she was waiting for a cheque to clear. I left it a few days to give her the benefit of the doubt but realise I need to do something now. What would you recommend? Do I contact her again or contact ebay?

fergoose · 25/09/2011 21:32

just open a non paying dispute - they then have 3 days to pay and if they don't you close it and get your final fees back. You can open the dispute from day 4 so you have given plenty of time.

DecapitatedLegoman · 25/09/2011 21:41

Thanks Dino :)

Yes, Carrots, I agree with fergoos. No more Mrs Nice Guy Grin. I have had to open non-payment disputes 3 times and twice they coughed up as soon as i did.

Carrotsandcelery · 25/09/2011 21:54

Thank you - case is now open. It is only for a couple of pounds but it seems against the spirit of ebay to mess about like that.

Millie1 · 25/09/2011 22:15

Sorry to hear that buyer still hasn't paid up Carrots

Thanks for the postage advice earlier - that particular buyer missed out. Anyway, I'm on a high! Listed 16 items, three didn't sell but the others sold totalling £147'!!!!!!!!!!! GrinGrin

The best thing of all is that I sold a cot and changing table, listed for collection only, in Northern Ireland - wow! So now I must list my 2xSvan highchairs and the three prams! One can but hope!

Carrotsandcelery · 25/09/2011 22:21

Millie that is fantastic! Yay! Grin

DecapitatedLegoman · 25/09/2011 22:50

Well done Millie! :)

I've got to £140ish but am a bit stumped for where to go next. I'm sure DH has a load of tat unused items which would sell, vast numbers of bizarre and woefully underused tools for a start

oopslateagain · 25/09/2011 22:58

I just sold 12 items for £132!!! Not as good as you Millie Grin

Dino I won your fab toothbrush mug, think I was the only bidder though Sad. All this money sitting in PayPal is making my fingers itch... I have to keep reminding myself I am trying to RAISE money, not SPEND it!

acsec · 25/09/2011 23:06

I've listed a few more things here more to come on Tuesday night.

Millie1 · 26/09/2011 09:29

Well done Decapitated and Oops! I feel strangely bereft this morning with no listings to follow but am planning my next lot.

Went to the Pound Shop this morning to buy postage bags ... The Pound Shop is now a Friends of Kenya Charity Shop Hmm! In the newsagents they are £1.20 each! I wonder whether I can wrap in brown paper and then parcel up securely in and inside out Marks & Spencer food bag (got oodles of those!)? What do you think?
