Does anyone want William as Prince of Wales?

I'm not keen.

Charles made an effort to learn Welsh.

I'm not sure how in touch William is with real life, poverty and politics.
He seems so very bland.

And so very, very English.

He lived in Anglesey for a while and they loved him

I thought they were going to get rid of the title as it doesn't make much sense as all it really is is a title. But @Quveas do you really think someone has to experience hardship in order to empathise?

Yep, happy to have him as Prince of Wales.

If you knew your Welsh History then you would know the origins of the title and why it makes sense. May I also recommend that you come to Wales and see all of the lovely castles the English built there. There are a few Welsh ones too.

It’s a hard no from me.

I stood next to Kate in Waitrose on Anglesey. I think they enjoyed their time living here when they married. He will have heard a lot of spoken Welsh at work and I'm sure will have learnt more for the investiture.

What does empathy do to pay the bills or put food on the table? Nothing at all. The monarchy is a nationalistic distraction. And if you knew your history, it really isn't "just" a title. This family are amongst the richest people in the world, and on top of that you and I pay them to do a "job" that nobody gets to apply for, and is based on privilege and nothing more. And the tabloid press exult these people whilst lambasting "scroungers" who depend on public money too. Will their "empathy" help you pay your bills?

The concern is William being Prince of Wales?
That probably isn’t my biggest concern, I’m more interested in how the king will manage, probably more important too.

@Isaidnoalready
Interestingly other royals have learnt some British sign language too. Diana learnt some sign language. Queen Elisabeth was Patron of Royal Association of the Deaf. And Prince Philips Mum was profoundly Deaf from Birth. Really worth reading about her -search 'The Deaf Princess' a remarkable woman

I am very happy to have William and Catherine as the Prince and Princess of Wales. Both William and Harry have volunteered in Africa with people far poorer than most British people. I believe that both Diana and Charles made sure that "the boys" understood about poverty, homelessness, drug addiction etc as much as - and probably more than - most of us, who are lucky enough to have no real idea about any of those dreadful situations.

The Prince and Princess of Wales lived in Anglesey for several years while he was part of air sea rescue, and they loved it there. Being the Prince of Wales - as well as the Duke of Cornwall- brings it's own challenges, and I believe that it is a great stepping stone and learning opportunity before William becomes King in his own right.

I presume OP that you don't agree to there being a monarchy at all then? Even though I am a Royalist for several different reasons, I am not happy that we have to have Charles as King before we can have William, but I do accept it. I am also still angry and upset that Camilla is now officially Queen Consort - we were promised when he married Camilla that she would never be Queen, that is one promise to us that has already been broken.

I think the heirs to the throne always are a bit more stoic than following kids because of the role that are put into. You know what they say, the 2nd sons have all the fun etc. From what people who have met William have said, he actually has a great sense of humour. Don't forget that the media will be trying to paint him in a certain light and the clips of him that we see are selected to fit in with that.

I think he will do great as Prince of Wales, and as King when the time comes. Hopefully not for a while though, God save King Charles and all that.

I think Harry is nice, charismatic, charming etc but responsible? No.

For what it’s worth, I’m Welsh and don’t speak Welsh.

I don’t harbour any bad feelings towards him and I think they’ll do much for Wales.

He only speaks it in front of the locals when the non-locals are around.

So you don't want William because he doesn't speak Welsh. But you'll have Harry who lives in America! You've put a lot of thought into this I see!
