Ivf using donor eggs

janeyc1986 · 30/05/2025 19:08

Hi Myself and my partner have had 2 rounds of ivf in the uk ans 4 embryos transferred which have never taken. We are now going with reprofit and are using ‘your ivf journey’ to support us.
Ivw been told to start taking the birth control pill from next week as that’s when my next bleed is due.
I was wondering what the process is for this route? I’m a teacher so we want to go to Czech rebublic when i break up for the summer.
I just wonder when i would choose the donor? and how long the process will take ect..
I think we will get our actual treatment plan next week which i am so excited about as this is our last go. Mentally i feel like there has to be a point when we stop so we have decided to make this the last try.
I would love to hear all of your experiences with this route please.
Thank you janey x

Hi Janey, sorry I can’t answer your questions but just wanted to say good luck - we are also in similar position, 3 rounds of ivf in the uk, 2 embryos transferred with no success so going with London Donor Bank in the next couple of months - wishing you all the best! x

janeyc1986 · 30/05/2025 22:47

Thank you that’s really kind of you. I wish you al the luck in the world too x

Hi @janeyc1986 . We are also having a DE journey in Czech Republic. I think once we got a treatment plan, we got to fill a questionnaire about the donor. The donor was offered within a week
or two. It matched my physics.

janeyc1986 · 31/05/2025 13:02

Oh really, all i have been told is that i needed to start birth control pills next week. So it won’t been long until we get a donor list then? How far are you in the process? I break up from my job at the end of july so am hoping we get to go in the summer? Does it take a long time the whole process? Thank you for your reply? x

I’m with the second clinic, both in Czech Republic though. The first clinic offered 2 donors which I refused, as I didn’t feel it’s for me, then later they offered another two, which sounded similar to me. The cycle wasn’t successful, I had 9 eggs in total but only 1 blastocyst, and nothing to freeze.
Then I chose another clinic, we had 8 eggs and got 3 blastocysts. 1 donor offered which seemed similar to me. The first transfer wasn’t successful. The second one - had just now, so in waiting. In less than 1 year I had 3 transfers. Once you start, the process goes quickly really.

Aww bless you, sounds like you have been through it. It’s so emotionally draining isn’t it. We both have said this is the last time. Im feeling excited this time and of course i wanted this baby to be genetically mind too but to be honest the thought of not being a mum is heartbreaking.
When did you have your transfer? I bet your so nervous . I wish you the best of luck x

GingerFox2021 · 05/06/2025 17:52

I received a positive test. Now I’m nervous as it’s becoming a reality. Any more updates from your clinic, @janeyc1986 ?

janeyc1986 · 05/06/2025 18:56

That’s fantastic congratulations!

Well they have suggested i fly to the clinic and do a immunology test and my partner do a dna fragment test . I’ve had 4 embryos that have never implanted so they want me to get checked before.
Its just so stressful feel so much tension about what to do now x
Did you have any tests done yourself? xx

OP posts:
GingerFox2021 · 08/06/2025 16:02

@janeyc1986 thank you! It feels a bit surreal, to be honest.
No, i haven’t done any testing. They would have suggested it later.
Any ideas when you are flying out for some testing?

janeyc1986 · 09/06/2025 07:46

Hopefully next week i’m just waiting for confirmation how. I just so want to start but i also want to not waste our last chance!

I am honestly so happy for you xx

We have a donor egg conceived child. He’s a joy (and a pain sometimes LOL).

He’s 9 now and we had treatment in the Uk so I probably don’t have practical experience to share. But I wanted to wish you both luck with it all.

janeyc1986 · 22/06/2025 09:04

Hi GingerFox2021 How are you feeling? I bet the pregnancy symptoms have really kicked in now.
I got back from reprofit in the czech republic on thursday night. My partner and I had all the bloods done and I had the immunology test, The biopsy they tried to get from my uterus was so painful though they went in 4 times but not much luck with the amount of tissue they could get, if they arnt able to get a result i’ll have to go back and be put under.
I feel like our journey is going to be long but i’m praying that if they find nk cell problems or something then we can work it out. I hope your well xx

I don't have any info regarding your question I'm afraid but I just wanted to give you a tip. I made 14 embryos, 3 transfers. The only round that worked I had 2 embryos transferred, day 3 with embryo glue. Best of luck! Xx

GingerFox2021 · 24/06/2025 19:37

@janeyc1986 hi.
the biopsy sounds unpleasant, I’m sorry you had to go through this. I hope it will be enough to get the results. When will you receive them? What the biopsy was exactly for?
I don’t really have any symptoms apart of a terrible bloating. Almost painful and unpleasant. Taking lots of progesterone though.
I’m booked for a scan next week.

janeyc1986 · 24/06/2025 19:43

We should fine out the results in the next week, or if i have to go back there next month.
I keep telling myself it will be worth it in the end.
It was an immunology test, because i’ve never had a positive test on all 4 embryos so they want to check my immunity and also natural killer cells. It’s our last chance so throwing whatever i can at it.
Doesnit feel real now? I bet your so excited , i’m so happy for you xx

GingerFox2021 · 24/06/2025 20:13

Thank you once again..
You know, I’m excited and anxious. I’m more a worrier in life. It still feels surreal and I can’t get too excited, as I worry 🤔. I had such low progesterone levels on my transfer day, that even dr was surprised, so was worried since then to be honest. I hope I can relax a bit after the scan.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you.

FlatWhiteAnyone · 02/07/2025 07:13

Hi @GingerFox2021, just wanted to ask how are you doing, did you have your scan? Hope all is well!

janeyc1986 · 02/07/2025 19:39

Hi, sorry it’s been a manic day. Last few weeks of the school term and there’s so much to do. I haven’t had any results yet which i’m a bit frustrated with as i don’t know if they picked anything up in the testing or next steps. It was 2 weeks yesterday and she has that they are waiting on the report at reprofit. Just want some positive news finding the wait hard and worrying.
Anyway on a more posistive note, how are you doing? Really well i hope xx

Hi @janeyc1986, I feel your pain with waiting! We finally went with the clinic in Greece in January (egg bank selected before that), was hoping for March transfer.. Then my DH had to do genetic testing, then I needed a surgery to correct uterus (had 2 premature births but both healthy), so then 3 month wait… So only today clinic received eggs and will start creating embryos tomorrow.. OE cycles were stressful but this is not easier, and waiting..
Hoping for end of July transfer if all is good
Did your clinic explain the matching process?

I recommend checking out Paths to Parenthub - run by a UK woman who used egg donation. Lots and lots of information for you there.

Fully agree with you @ThreenagerCentral!! I joined them a year ago and highly recommend. I also work with clinical counsellors whom I found via the platform

I have 2 DC Reprofit babies. Well, I say babies, they’re both teenagers now! 😂. The clinic is fantastic and Brno is a lovely city. Wishing you lots of luck

@FlatWhiteAnyone Oh wow you have been through it too jesus.
Im just scared they are going to come back with loads of things and then it’s more money to save. Craigs dna fragmentation tests should tell us more about the chromosomes and my immunology test i hope will tell us why they haven’t implanted. I just feel defeated with it all. Plus i work in a school and 3 members of staff are going on maternity and of course i’m happy for them but i’m surrounded by it all the time. I really don’t understand as my family are all pretty fertile 😂 I only want 1 bubba lol x
Whatsvthe clinic in Greece like? x
