Donor conception

The London Egg Bank

Has anyone used or considered using The London Egg Bank for donor egg ivf?
I have been with TPF Simply Fertility for my journey so far, and it seems that their process is extremely slow and that they do not have any eggs in storage. It’s a first come first serve basis when a donor becomes available.
the London egg bank claims the whole process can be done within 2months and they have a huge storage of donor eggs to choose from.

TPF does say my journey can be expedited if I go to their sister clinic in Spain. My issue there is I really struggle with travelling and would prefer to stay in the U.K. even if it’s more expensive.

Hi, haven't used them yet but researched and had a first call. We are still trying last shot with OE and then will move. They do have some selection but depends what's needed. You can register and actually check for free the selection, only you cannot see the letters tgey wrote and a bit more details without proper consultation with their doctors. Need some tests and counselling consultation.
As eggs already available, you select, purchase and start the cycle with your clinic or the clinic they work with.
That's what I understood, so if you can find a donor , it should be fast. They have new coming in every week.
In my case I think I will have more luck in spain or Czech republic, just from donor selection point of view, but then need to decide what's more important anonymous vs non-anonymous or matching features.. Lots of things to digest.
Good luck with the process xx

You can set up a free account without having a consultation and see their donor database. There is a decent selection (depending on what you want) so I could believe you could start treatment in a couple of months. I’d register and have a look to see the breadth of what’s available. Just don’t set your heart on a particular donor because they might not be available by the time you’ve jumped through all the hoops to be ready to start treatment.

I used LEB - it was quick and straightforward.

Yes I signed up earlier and using their filters found several possibly viable donors. I am going to give them a call tomorrow and get a better idea of their practices.
i am in my mid 40s and don’t want to wait too long to get started.
i have had a blood test and a pelvic exam with TPF fertility already. I have also already started private counselling. So if I switch clinics now I am down £550, but that is a negligible loss over the 6m - 1yr wait with zero choices but to decline and wait again for another donor with TPF.

That is great to hear! Were you successful with one cycle?
they seem to be more expensive than average, but also faster with more choice than others.
did you get the donor eggs from who you chose on the website register? Or were they gone by the time you were ready?

@Halokitty LEB would be short for London Egg Bank, the one you were asking about, its not a different place 😊

Halokitty, I successfully used LEB. I had 2 different donors: first, 7 eggs, 2 embryos, 1 BFN and 1 MMC 😢 then 6 eggs, 1 embryo, one amazing precious and unbelievably fabulous child who amazingly looks and acts just like me! I definitely rate the LEB, the staff are caring, the process is easy, and it’s worth it to know my child can meet her donor in the future if desired. As an aside, our treatment was through the London Womens on Harley St. Good luck

After a number of failed rounds with my own eggs we used LEB and had our amazing daughter. We received ten eggs and it worked on our second embryo transfer. When we were with them you had to have your treatment with London Women’s Clinic. I think this is still the case.
