LWC with DE

Hi ladies, after a failed IVF cycle at LWC with my OE I feel ready to go ahead with DE. I have chosen a donor with a proven track record and with very similar looks to mine and I'm excited about the next steps, however when I look for DE information/stories I usually find people that has either done it abroad or used egg share or fresh donors. Is there anyone here that has used frozen eggs from the London Egg Bank that wouldn't mind share their experience? I'm so excited and nervous, just doesn't want to feel like I'm the only one going on this path 🥺. TIA x

Hello! I did various cycles of own egg and fresh egg share IVF, none of which worked, and then did a frozen egg cycle via LWC/LEB. I was really sceptical about the chances of success... And now I'm 24 weeks pregnant, and there are four more blastocysts frozen at the clinic as well - it was by far my most successful cycle. Any specific questions I can help with?

JustLisa · 23/12/2019 17:49

Wow! Congratulations @Persipan 24 weeks, that's wonderful! I don't have any specific questions it's just that LEB isn't mentioned very often on these boards and made me wonder why but glad to know you did and all is well, it gave me the hope I needed, thank you x

Hi, I’m a longtime lurker- never posted before but couldn’t not post when I saw this.
I have a 4 week old baby born via frozen donor egg IVF at LWC.
I agonised over the decision to use donor eggs, then fresh vs frozen, but I feel it was the best decision I ever made.
I would be happy to answer any questions also. I would recommend you check out Amanda Dawn Lewis on YouTube, I found her videos on the subject really helpful when I was making these decisions.
Please know that you are not alone x

Hi all
I am also at the early stages of considering DE after failed cycles with OE. My preference is Id release and I have looked into LWC and have some initial questions and would be really grateful for any advice. As far as I can see the standard amount you purchase is six eggs - or am I misunderstanding the website? Is this your experience? If so, bearing in mind thawing and then fertilisation rates - does this normally mean only one or two blastocysts per ‘cycle’ and none to freeze? @Persipan - I notice you have four blastocysts left. That’s a great amount. Would you mind me asking how many eggs had had to start with? Sorry for obviously questions - am just at early stages of this. Thanks all.

Persipan · 10/01/2020 14:43

They say six eggs, but in my case I ended up with eight, because apparently if they have a random leftover number of that donor's eggs they just chuck them in as well, essentially. Which was a nice surprise! I can't remember exactly how many fertilised (6, I think? Maybe 7?) but there ended up being five blastocysts in total - the one I had transferred, and then four more that were all good enough to freeze. Those were much, much better numbers, at every stage, than I've ever had with any other cycle (own egg, and fresh egg share as a recipient), and far better than I expected given those past experiences - in all honesty it felt like a bit of a 'unicorn' cycle, so whether it's representative of a typical frozen egg cycle, I can't say.

GreyGoose1980 · 10/01/2020 19:14

Thanks @Persipan

Paulinefowler · 13/01/2020 20:13

@GreyGoose1980 We had 7 eggs, 4 survived the thaw, three fertilised- one embryo looked particularly good, the other two looked ok.
On the day we went for transfer (day 5) the two "ok" embryos were not developed enough to be used so we had only the one transferred.
Sadly the two others never developed enough to be frozen.

GreyGoose1980 · 14/01/2020 07:58

Thanks for sharing your experience @Paulinefowler. Congratulations on the birth of your baby too x

Paulinefowler · 14/01/2020 08:36

Thank you @GreyGoose1980 and good luck to you.

QuantumGirl · 30/01/2020 18:38

I'm also

QuantumGirl · 30/01/2020 18:48

Hello again ladies, sorry about the username confusion, I used to be JustLisa but the app isn't playing ball. I had my FET yesterday and my birthday today ☺️. All went well, got a good quality embryo put back. Of all the 6 DE only 5 fertilised and apart from the one inside me the others don't seem too good to freeze. I'm heartbroken 😔 but they will confirm tomorrow. All I can do now is cross my fingers 🤞

GreyGoose1980 · 30/01/2020 20:40

Good luck OP - I have my fingers crossed for you. We are just finalising our final FET with OE and if that doesn’t work then will be moving to DE x

Paulinefowler · 02/02/2020 19:05

Good luck @QuantumGirl, will keep everything crossed for you. Please let us know how you get on x

QuantumGirl · 02/02/2020 23:32

Thank you ladies. I'm trying very hard not to think about it but it isn't working. Funnily enough I'm dreading test day too 😟

QuantumGirl · 08/02/2020 11:33

A bit of an update: no Frosties left to freeze 🥶 ☹️ but the one inside me is 4AA so the clinic is very hopeful 👍👍👍 OTD is Monday but I will do a pre test tomorrow as I don't want to test in s hurry then leave the house to get the train. I'm keeping positive, trying to remind myself that the donor was young, proven (had other DE babies) and there is no reason for it to go wrong. @Paulinefowler and @Persipan did you remember any symptoms at 10dp5dt? I'm getting nervous 😬😳

GreyGoose1980 · 08/02/2020 12:10

Have fingers crossed for you OP Flowers

Paulinefowler · 16/02/2020 13:00

@QuantumGirl sorry I missed your last post. How did the test go? X

QuantumGirl · 16/02/2020 14:50

It was positive! 😃. I don't have much symptoms atm and seem to be making hookie mistakes. Had my hair coloured yesterday and I'm now worrying about the worst. When you have years of infertility and spent a fortune on treatments you become a paranoid monster 😩.

Paulinefowler · 19/02/2020 14:14

Congratulations! Lovely news. The only symptoms I had in the early stages of my pregnancies was no signs of my period coming.
Don't worry about having your hair coloured, lots of women have it coloured throughout their pregnancy.
When I was 5 weeks pregnant I realised that I had been taking a multivitamin that said on the bottle 'not suitable for use during pregnancy'. I freaked out! Lots of googling that day. My baby is fine though so obviously was ok.

QuantumGirl · 21/02/2020 08:56

Thanks @Paulinefowler. Can totally relate to your frantic googling. I'd done the same. My hair is nice and coloured and so far fingers crossed all seems well. Scan in early March ❤️

Hello ladies - I’m 29.5w with our 3rd round of DE at LWC. first go we got 2 grade 3 from 6 eggs (1st didn’t work, 2nd MMC at about 7w) then a new batch of 6 but only 1 blastocyst..a5AA. I’m in my late 40s and pregnancy has been really easy so far (bit of crazy bleeding in 1st trimester) my bump is very tidy but I’m getting tired now :) what an amazing feeling when the baby moves inside!!! So glad to hear other positive stories, congrats on your journey and best of luck for your deliveries .

Paulinefowler · 02/03/2020 09:10

Congratulations @Midlifebaby! You are nearly there. I was very tired towards the end of my pregnancy, but I love being pregnant it's the best feeling x

Leala20 · 07/03/2020 20:38

@Paulinefowler congratulations! I am going through nhs via guys and we are still to get the funding approved. I also received the information from LWC and if I had the choice I would go privately as there’s no waiting. Has anyone had any experience with guys? They only accept fresh eggs so from what I have seen the only option we have is altrui.

Leala20 · 07/03/2020 20:39

@Midlifebaby congratulations to you as well!

Paulinefowler · 08/03/2020 10:13

Thank you @Leala20. I don't have any experience of guys but will keep my fingers crossed for you x
