Cautious congratulations Hoping.

Stork fingers crossed for the four. I was disappointed with the ratio of eggs to fertilised eggs to blastocysts. I thought the embryologist was managing my expectations the first cycle with his pessimistic sounding prediction of how many would make it but he was almost spot on.

pickle162 · 11/03/2017 15:50

Caution my scans are cd2,10,12 but they don't HAVE to be them if I couldn't have done cd2, it could have been cd3
Yep chose Donor really quick, there was only 3 I liked and this one stood out, mainly cos of his grey eyes. Once I read the extended profile I knew he was the one, I may be anxious on somethings but otherwise very intuitive and know when something feels right and when they aren't. So when feel right I just go with it. Very pleased with my choice, he wasn't ready to use when I first chose donor but had spotted him before.
Keeping fingers crossed that he works out and turns out to be the daddy as I really love his profile but not getting hopes up

pickle162 · 11/03/2017 15:52

Stork keeping everything crossed that those little eggs do what they are meant to do

StorkAhoy · 11/03/2017 16:48

Hi everyone. Thanks for all your warm thoughts.

So first of all, yes absolutely 4 is better than less than 4!

It should be noted that on my last ivf they got 18eggs, 10 of which fertilised, and by day 5, only 2 were good enough to implant and none to freeze.

So it's totally quality over quantity and I should be happy, but of course I'm anxious, my PMA left me for a little bit, it'll come back!
I guess I'm drawing attention to the fact it doesn't matter about egg numbers as within 24hrs it can be halved!

This is the reason natural conception rate is 20% I guess, it's a tricky business!

It should also be mentioned that my friend who had her ivf twins had nearly these exact numbers too and all 4 of hers got to blastocyst stage so really I should stop worrying!

pickle162 · 11/03/2017 16:55

Natural to worry lovely x

tygr · 11/03/2017 18:22

Sending positive vibes to your eggs Stork

I'm on a hiatus but considering booking initial consultation with clinic to talk through options. Spend nearly every day thinking through practicalities, including moving house as the layout of this one isn't ideal for a child in many ways. Nothing like planning ahead...

Karendvm · 11/03/2017 19:28

hoping I'm thinking about you. I hope your hcg continues to rise.

Sending positive vibes your way stork

caution I had a scan on day 2/3 and then again on day 10. After that it was wait for a surge. The one time I had more scans was when I had way too many follicles and my cycle got cancelled.

CautionHormone · 11/03/2017 21:19

Thanks Pez, Pickle & Karen. All your info has been really helpful and insightful; it's sounds like all your clinics roughly scan around the same time, so at least I know what I'm looking at when it comes to TTC come August... Only five months to wait! 😖
Only reason I ask is because I'm thinking of using CRGW in Wales, which is 2.5 hours away from where I live. It's ideal because my best friend lives half an hour away from CRGW and has said I'm always welcome at hers and for how ever long I want, but it's always good to (try) and work out timescales on how long I'd need to be there and whether it'd be worth coming home between the mid cycle scan & actual IUI...

Stork, I know it seems like a huge drop from what you had last time but as you said, your friend only had four too and hers reached blastocyst stage... I'm sure yours will be fine also! Keep strong lovely Flowers

INeedNewShoes · 11/03/2017 23:19

Caution - you could always get your mid-cycle scan done closer to home and see if CRGW would be happy to be emailed a scan of the report. My local clinic (St Albans) charges £75 for a follicle-tracking scan and they do packages for money off if you intend to have more than one scan.

tygr · 11/03/2017 23:57

That's the clinic I'm considering Caution Smile It's 90 minutes from me.

pickle162 · 12/03/2017 09:49

Tygr I would def go to the consultation, I found it really useful....or see if you clinic does a free 1-2-1 show around which usually involves a 20min chat (with someone non medical but very helpful) I found that session really really helpful

Caution how exciting that you have a date to work towards, when is ur op again?
I would book stuff with the clinic once that is out the way as 5months seems ages away but once you've seen the consultant (which can have about a 2 week wait to see them) then the nurses will usually contact about a month after this, have to chose donor (may not be a donor at ur clinic or may have to import anyway) so soon slips away...I had my AMH done in Dec and realistically could have only done march/April cycle depending on when af was due. I chose the may cycle as I knew i could have annual leave. My clinic is uber busy at the mo but even sperm bank lady said they were way more busy than usual and 2017 was obviously the year to try and have a baby! So anyway very very long way of saying if you want to start trying in Aug then start around 3months in advance....

AF still not arrived 😖

So today is the last day I'm going to drink alcohol (unless for very special occasions) and have my new shopping list for lots of healthy stuff....need to get healthy and stop eating crap. Starting with the egg has made me think that the little eggs/follicles (can't remember which) take 3-4 to mature dinners to make them the best I can Smile

kwick · 12/03/2017 09:54

Ladies sorry I have been AWOL... very very hard week at work and just had no time or energy for anything beyond that.
I hope I missed loads of fab news? Not sure how likely it is that I will read back... that notion wracks me with guilt but I just do not have energy right now.

Still no AF here - last time I had to wait for week 7, just finished week 4.
No blood test results yet either.
Have started to look for a new job.

Hope everyone is doing well & having a lovely weekend.

witchmountain · 12/03/2017 11:21

Hey Kwick just popped on to wish you a happy Sunday. I'm just back from being away and I've got "real life dread" combined with the usual Sunday blues, which made me wonder how you were doing.

Don't worry about reading back, I'm sure it will become pretty obvious what's going on from new posts.

What sort of thing are you after job-wise? (Am also in HR and sometimes things get mentioned to me.) Do you do any of the HR network type things? I think Deloitte have their annual Human Capital report thing next week (possibly Wednesday first thing) which I can't make but I can send you the details if you PM me. I find that kind of thing useful for getting my head back into the wider world outside my own organisation.

pickle162 · 12/03/2017 11:57

Sorry you feeling poop witch x
*
Kwick* been thinking of you, yeh seriously don't worry about reading... summary of my events are-still no AF either and on cd31 and donor Harry is no more, he pulled out but I have found a lovely replacement so thinking positively that was meant to be.
New job may be a good thing, focus on something else for a while. Take care my lovely x

CautionHormone · 12/03/2017 12:35

Shoes - really? I didn't know that! That's really helpful to know, thank you. I'll have to ask if it's something CRGW do, and if something CARE do - CARE Npton is my closest one one but when I went for my counselling appointment there I didn't really get a "feel" for the place. Whereas I've spoken on the phone with CRGW before, just to get information, and they seem so much more... accommodating? It's weird!

Tygr how strange! Maybe we'll bump into each other there Wink

Pickle, thanks for all that information!! That's really handy to know, I'll be remembering that and writing all that down. I'll be contacting CRGW around May anyway, around two months after I've had my surgery, but won't want to proceed with anything until after my holiday on 1st July... I won't mind having tests and things done beforehand, but because my AF is meant to fall smack bang in the middle of when I'm on holiday (my period tracker tells me months in advanced!) I think it's just logical to start afterwards, and give my body a good four months to recovery from my surgery.
My op is a week on Wednesday, the 22nd!!! I'm bricking it!!! Blush so nervous Sad

StorkAhoy · 12/03/2017 12:59

caution good luck with the op n the 22nd!

Thanks for the warm words ladies! I'm in the middle of house cleaning so I don't need to worry about it post transfer.

So I'd like thoughts on activity post transfer. There seem to be three main types of thinking on this 1) carry on as you normally would with work, go walking etc. 2) wrap yourself in cotton wool during the tww, don't work, rest as much as possible, stay in bed the first three days post transfer, don't work etc, 3) take time off, Stay round the house, go for gentle walks and chill out.

Every study I read says one of these things! What do you guys think?

pickle162 · 12/03/2017 13:31

22nd will come and go quick enough (I'm desperately hoping it will as I need pay day on 24th to come asap) sure it will go fine caution and then you can finally get on with your plans :)

witchmountain · 12/03/2017 15:27

Thanks Pickle Smile I'm easing myself back into real life with about eighty loads of washing!

pickle162 · 12/03/2017 15:43

Yup I'm on my 3rd load of the day ....need a washing fairy to hang it all out tho 😫

kwick · 12/03/2017 17:17

Thanks @witchmountain that is part of problem - I know I want less responsibility but not sure what type of role...
I am a bit crap at networking to be honest... am ok at work functions (sort of) but not when room is full of strangers...
thank you soooo much for your offer 💕

pickle sorry to hear about Harry - but like your approach

caution you will be grand - you'll see

stork if you can then option 3, otherwise option 1. Whatever you do, gentle walks each day. And lots of PMA!!!

pickle I strongly recommend the heated clothes driers you can get from Lakeland Grin

Have spent a large chunk of today going through my personal emails which had got out of control! Feels good to have cleared a large chunk down and when I get home I am going to order some stuff after money off vouchers have been found! Also ordered some clothes and shoes - have a work conference in April and need to get my confidence up for that.

CautionHormone · 12/03/2017 18:30

Thanks for your well wishes re surgery... Getting really nervous now, but can't wait to have it out the way so I can book my initial consult with CRGW! I'm going up to Wales on the 29th July to see my best friend so may see if they have any appointments then (they may not seeing as it's on a Saturday) but both Mum & Dad want to come with me to support me - they're both cuties & want to be with me every step of the way. They're my biggest support network!

Stork - I'm not 100% sure if I'm giving the right advice here, and I don't know what job you do, but maybe you could work but do light/gentle activities? It may help keep your mind active during the TWOT too! Keeping yourself busy seems to be popular during the TWW, so I'd suggest that... But as I said, I've not been in that situation as can't really advise.

Kwick, hope you're doing well lovely, and hope you sort the job front out. Glad you've ordered some clothes and shoes; retail therapy always helps! Thanks for your well wishes for the 22nd... I hope so! 😖

HopingForALittleOne · 13/03/2017 03:44
