Ex wanting gifts back

Hi there, just looking for some advice please.

Ex and I split 3 months ago. We share a 3 year old together.

He has text this evening with a list of items he wants to collect on Sunday.

Items in the list include our daughter's bike and gifts he gave my eldest daughter. The pram and baby seat in the loft. Baby Annabelle dummy and bottle? The list goes on.

Now as he bought them I can see it from that view but just feel it's really petty?

I'm willing to put everything he's asked for out for him to collect.

I’d put out his personal stuff and the crap from the loft for him to enjoy . He won’t sell it, as car seats should not be bought second hand - but hey ho! Let him try.

If he sold the sofas when you still needed or wanted them, then there's your bargaining chip if you actually want to engage on this matter.

Demand the return of your sofas or the full retail replacement value before you consider his request.

And if it's spite that's driving him, two can play at that game. You could spitefully report him to HMRC for his cash in hand shenanigans...

I agree.

Do I not reply to his message then? He wants to collect Sunday. Do I just put his personal belongings out or everything just to be done with it?

I would put just his personal belongings.

Have you changed the locks? If not then make sure you do before he collects his stuff.

What a peach.

Interesting someone posted about it being transactional, that’s certainly what it sounds like and if you give it now, you’re paving the way for more of this.

Really hold the line on this, you’re stuff fine, things I don’t need fine but things given as a gift = no.

I wouldn’t dream of demanding things back from my STBXP that I’d given him, I’d feel like a total failure and fool if I did. Give me back the socks I got for you three years ago 🤑 pathetic.

Update
I put out all of his belongings only. Even texted him and he was a no show and still hasn't replied.

Probably sulking because you did it. He wanted a fight. A reason to bitch to his friends about you being a psycho ex

Potentialmadcatlady · 18/03/2024 09:02

Send one message saying ‘just reminding you your stuff is outside for collection. I will leave it there for another 48hours or until it rains- at which point I will put it into bin for disposal’
My Ex tried the same about the kids stuff. I packed up his stuff and also left him various kids items for ‘his’ house but it was the kids least favourite items so no upset caused.
Don’t give him any power ( because that is what it is about). Boring txts regarding child arrangements only. Keep your power to yourself.

IncompleteSenten · 18/03/2024 09:06

Ugh. He's a piece of shit.

Mammma91 · 18/03/2024 09:08

I wouldn’t return the kids toys. Personal belongings only. Why take from the kids ? It’s just so nasty. They shouldn’t have to deal with the consequences of someone being bitter at the end of a relationship.

Update

He didn't come to collect yesterday as he was in a police cell. He crashed his van drink driving. He called me an hour ago when he was dropped home.

Gifts are irrevocable in law.

What a prince amongst men! I bet you're so glad you got rid of him.
