It wasn't good!!

I do think I slightly brought in on myself though. I went for a 2 and a half hour run. Normally, as well as eating jelly babies on the way round, I have an orange juice immediately after stopping.

On this occasion I was that desperate to get in the bath, I accidently skipped the drink and sunk like a stone about an hour later Shock!

SpottyTeacakes · 17/03/2015 05:46

My neurologist has written into my notes that he is in favour of me getting a pump not only for my diabetes but for the problem I see him for too. Can only be a good thing?!

hoxty · 17/03/2015 21:10

0.9 Shock

SpottyTeacakes · 18/03/2015 09:35

Can anyone answer why, if I don't eat breakfast, my levels shoot right up?

Eg:
6:30am 5.6 (one coffee)
9:30am 15.9!!

If I eat breakfast it's fine but I don't want to eat breakfast!!

RueDeWakening · 18/03/2015 10:03

Spotty, it's got to be basal related, surely? Shock That's one hell of an increase!

SpottyTeacakes · 18/03/2015 11:42

I don't see how it can be I'm on split dose so at 6:30 I had an additional 12u!

hoxty · 18/03/2015 21:42

Yes I think your overnight insulin is running out.

What fasting levels does everyone aim for? Mine was 8 this morning which is too high imo.

SpottyTeacakes · 18/03/2015 21:46

It can't be as I had levemir in the morning as well as at night.

I'm happy with 5/6 but prefer high 4s.

hoxty · 18/03/2015 21:49

How long does levemir last? Do you always split it?
I don't want mine too low in the morning as I drive 25 miles to work before breakfast....

SpottyTeacakes · 18/03/2015 21:59

I've split it for about five or six years Shock it's supposed to last 24 hours but can tail off after 20.

hoxty · 18/03/2015 22:34

So maybe it's falling off before breakfast but your short acting, if you eat breakfast is covering the spike. Otherwise, I dunno!

SpottyTeacakes · 19/03/2015 08:06

Woke up at 21 Shock assumed I forgot to do my injection for those bourbons I ate last night. Corrected and am now 3.1. Def wasn't low in the night. ARGH.

RueDeWakening · 19/03/2015 08:54

Are you fighting off an infection? No idea though!

paddyclampo · 19/03/2015 12:24

I had similar problems with levemir so I switched to lantus!

SpottyTeacakes · 19/03/2015 12:28

I was on lantus before I got pregnant with dd, was splitting that too!

ZylaB · 19/03/2015 15:09

Could be your liver releasing some glycogen as you're effectively fasting without any breakfast?

SpottyTeacakes · 19/03/2015 15:42

That's what I was wondering but I wasn't sure if that actually happened or if I made it up Blush

RueDeWakening · 19/03/2015 16:14

Definitely does happen - typically if your levels are low and staying low.

if it's a liver dump, be careful about hypos because it takes 24-36 hours to "recharge" from memory.

SpottyTeacakes · 19/03/2015 16:20

Definitely not liver dump

SpottyTeacakes · 11/04/2015 10:54

Just got the date for my insulin pump transfer sessions GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

LaurieFairyCake · 14/04/2015 19:47

Just found this topic, had no idea there was a diabetes board.

I'm going for my fasting blood test tomorrow though I've had symptoms for a long time. What's finally compelling me is a blister on my foot that just won't heal, ive had terrible cracks round my mouth that wouldn't heal very quickly either.

I'm a bit worried about the blood test - more worried about how sweaty/shaky/crazy spaced out I will be by the time I take it Hmm at 12.

SpottyTeacakes · 14/04/2015 19:49

Could they not get you in any sooner?! That's ridiculous Hmm make sure you drink plenty of water and take a snack Thanks

LaurieFairyCake · 14/04/2015 19:52

That was the only appt they had tomorrow, I could have got earlier next week but I don't want to eat. I'm taking food with me to eat after as I won't trust my driving home til ive had something.

It's only been a few weeks that it's got this bad, now I have to eat in the morning or I get very crazy.

LaurieFairyCake · 14/04/2015 19:53

Don't want to wait. See, I want to eat already Grin

Thanks for the flowers, feel quite worried.

SpottyTeacakes · 14/04/2015 20:05

It could be any number or things Smile your results should be back Friday if you have it done tomorrow so you'll know by the weekend.
