wow. new topic. cool.
I am a type 1, since aged 1, so 40 years. I have had a pump for the last 10.
Any questions, please ask. I am ALWAYS Happy to help.

Linzer I felt a bit like that when I first had the pump. It's really hard to give that control over to a little machine! I'm still not perfectly controlled but I love it. It doesn't hurt now so I'll leave it, didn't help that ds elbowed me right where it is!

paddyclampo · 24/06/2015 23:23

I def don't get ill a lot. In fact, if anything, I get ill less than most people. I rationalize it by thinking that my immune system was so bloody awesome it destroyed the insulin producing cells!!!!!

Got my email to say I could get the Freestyle Libre so I'm going to get that ordered :)

MrsCampbellBlack · 25/06/2015 05:57

I like that rationale!

Exciting about the freestyle - we've signed up or at least I think we have (just added my email address to the mailing list) - how long did it take for you to get it?

Linzer - hope pump continues to go well.

I work for my DH so have flexibility but I do feel bad when I can't go in.

SpottyTeacakes · 25/06/2015 06:33

Paddy how much is it, if you don't mind me asking?

I also agree re the overactive immune system. It runs in my family. My mum has t1 diabetes, my sister has lupus. I'm currently awaiting my rheumatology appt after having highly positive ana blood results and ridiculous hives with no reason for them at all. It's all fun and games...

SpottyTeacakes · 25/06/2015 18:19

When I first started on pump therapy a few weeks ago my 'in range' levels were at 31%. Now they're at 63%! Smile

paddyclampo · 27/06/2015 16:36

It was about £140 for the starter kit. The sensors aren't available on the NHS at the minute but that may change! I'll let you know how it goes, should be here any day :)

paddyclampo · 29/06/2015 16:19

Anyone else going low in the heat?!

SpottyTeacakes · 29/06/2015 17:09

Yes and it's causing me to yoyo Angry

paddyclampo · 30/06/2015 13:27

It's here! Just fitted the sensor and have to wait an hour :)

MrsCampbellBlack · 30/06/2015 14:14

Oooh let us know how you get on!

DS has been ill for over a week so levels running pretty high - he now has anti-biotics so hoping he feels better soon.

SpottyTeacakes · 30/06/2015 16:05

Our diabetes centre has the rep from libre coming in a few weeks which I've been invited to.

It's 29 here today. I want some cake but know it'll mess me up Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 30/06/2015 21:09

Eugh 2.2. Can hardly feel it though Hmm

paddyclampo · 01/07/2015 00:18

Loving the Libre!! Have done some finger pricks to calibrate and they are pretty much in sync!

Really like being able to see the graph of what my levels have been doing all day, and tomorrow I can check what they did overnight :)

MrsCampell I hope he's feeling better soon

Spotty I have been really low all day, even dropped below 2 at one point. The graph of the libre is mostly below the shaded area all day!! Have reduced my basal tonight.

SpottyTeacakes · 01/07/2015 17:48

Hypo number 2. I even weighed my dinner. Sigh.

Hexiegone · 02/07/2015 10:23

I'm up and down like a yoyo too, at the moment. PITA!

Paddy, does the Libre have an alarm that can warn you when your blood's getting low? I like the sound of one and that would be a very handy feature.

SpottyTeacakes · 02/07/2015 12:32

I thought the Libre was one that doesn't have an alarm?

Hexiegone · 02/07/2015 14:34

Hmm, that's a shame. You'd think with such an all singing/all dancing device that would be a good idea, although now that I've actually looked at the website I see it's even simpler than I thought it was Blush. Am seriously tempted.

paddyclampo · 02/07/2015 16:08

It doesn't have an alarm but it has an arrow that says you're dropping or dropping quickly.

Just love the convenience of it. Tested whilst stopped at traffic lights this pm - no faffing about with strips etc - loving it! Also really interesting to see what goes on between fingerpricks!!

Hexiegone · 02/07/2015 18:09

Thank you, Paddy. It sounds ideal for driving. Well, everything really! Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 02/07/2015 19:17

I've had a rubbish day. Was 15 after some cake (guessed it wrong) corrected and didn't eat anything else. Five hours later I was 17 Angry

Hexiegone · 02/07/2015 19:23

Spotty, I've had that before. I was told that I need to eat something whenever I inject, even if it's only half a biscuit. Can't remember the scientific explanation for it. Hope it's coming down a bit now.

SpottyTeacakes · 02/07/2015 19:29

Hmm not heard that before. I did have a coffee. I hope so too ill text again when I can get ds to sleep!

hoxty · 03/07/2015 22:49

That is seriously tempting paddyclampo. Sensors are £££ tho

SpottyTeacakes · 05/07/2015 14:43

Ds just caught my tubing with his foot and it pulled my cannula out Hmm

hoxty · 07/07/2015 18:17

Owwwww
