Do you ever think that the men that use MN must be in touch with their feminine sides??

Just a thought!

Just like the CMF I had a college!

Nah. Just not over endowed with Y chromosomes...

BurpyErnie · 21/09/2008 23:08

Or maybe they find it a lot more entertaining than real life.

DadInsteadofMum · 22/09/2008 22:02

Surely the real question is why so many mums feel the need to keep an eye on dadsnet to check that we are behaving.

Pan · 25/09/2008 00:43

I've been in touch with lots of feminine sides, and none of them have been mine. [snurk at own weak joke - v. masculine]

Kevlarhead · 25/09/2008 20:24

Hur hur hur...

MissusAD · 26/09/2008 19:26

I think they use it to do research and find answers to problems. But its such a hornets nest on here sometimes, I am surprised they haven't all run away for good.

Pan · 28/09/2008 16:51

We are all very patient types, Miss.

Kevlarhead · 28/09/2008 21:51

Thick skinned too...

men can want company too. And conversation about things kid related (and not!). Why do women come on here? why should those reasons not apply to men as well?

Kevlarhead · 30/09/2008 19:36

"I think they use it to do research and find answers to problems."

No offence, but you sound like an anthropologist theorising about the behaviour of some distant and inscrutable tribe...

brimfull · 30/09/2008 19:38

definitely

tis a bit odd imo

brimfull · 30/09/2008 19:39

don't know why I think it's odd
just do

Pan · 30/09/2008 22:33

Hmm..not sure on the 'research' bit at all....I have used MN for some questions re my dd, but that is what we all do here, n'est-ce pas? No different to the women folk. It's 'interesting' to read of female chat, but we get that from lots of other females in our lives..just not so in such volume or coarseness , at least IME.......and I have given contributed a fair bit, so it hasn't been just a "research and find answers to problems" thing in a passive way.

Kevlarhead · 30/09/2008 22:44

Yeah... we are actors (pun intended) and participants in the MN community, rather than passive observers or readers... statistically freakish, but here for all that...

zippitippitoes · 30/09/2008 22:46

no just think they are intelligent and able to maske best use of the internet

cheesesarnie · 30/09/2008 22:49

nope.i assume nothing,i dont do generalising.i wish my dh would use mn,as im sure its not just mums that benifit(or dads actually.grannys, grandads, cms etc)from all the advice, support etc.

Kevlarhead · 30/09/2008 22:56

"no just think they are intelligent"

I'm assuming you mean that we (the men) are intelligent, as evinced by our use of MN?

DaddyJ · 30/09/2008 23:08

to the OP: quite possibly

Triathlete · 26/10/2008 22:47

Nope.

I look at AIBU and thank God that I am a man

KittyFloss · 26/10/2008 22:52

Lol can't imagine Dp would visit here on a regular basis, he's usually enthralled by the West Ham forum, although I did get up one morning and dd was dying to tell me that daddy had been on mumsnet lol.

retiredgoth · 26/10/2008 23:24

In touch with feminine side? Not especially. So why here...

....because as a lone (and I am very fucking 'lone') parent to four boys, two of whom are less than mainstream I have yet to find anywhere better.

...and I do need it. The half term holiday (now stretched to a near fortnight. Sigh) is upon us. My term time and school hours only contract is surely a marvel of enlightened employment policy. However it also ensures that I shall have zero social contact with adults for the duration.

So thank fuck for the interweb....

Forums (fora??? No.) frequented by men are usually single issue, hobby driven affairs. I could resort to some of these that I belong to, but doubt that The Wedding Present site will yield anything more entertaining than the set list for the latest tour (so that I can imagine what the gig would be like in the unlikely event of persuading anyone to urchin sit).

...and as for the Bristol Rovers fans forum. Well, I have spent whole seconds reveling in its glory.

Tried lone parent sites, but I can only take so many posts about the CSA and housing benefit, interspersed with nonsense from F4J wankers.....

....prior to using this site I had frequented a site for widowed people. This was splendid, but by its very nature transitory. After a while the common ground disappears a little (as it should). This site was recommended to me by a couple of fellow travellers there...

...and yes, I know that being male will always make me a little 'other' here. That is ok, and to be expected. But I shall continue to lurk and post where appropriate (or, frankly inappropriate) to help ease the loneliness and the boredom.

Nearing the end of the 10 litre box of wine........

charitas · 26/10/2008 23:29

retired goth link please pretty please for the wedding present site, I am so out of touch I did not know there was the possibility of gigs still.

retiredgoth · 26/10/2008 23:32

home to the mighty Gedge

...tour until Dec18th.

Dec 17th in Bristol is my aim.....
