Sorry, wasn't sure which topic to put this in

We currently have a Vauxhall Zafira, but when all 4 DC are in it there is no room for the buggy

So I am looking around for another 7 seater that might have boot space.

Are there any around?

TIA

Chrysler?
espace?

there are so many out there now!

FrockHorror · 08/09/2008 17:05

Dh has a caravelle which has quit a space. We went away recently for the weekend and not only took 3 bags for ourselves (baby clothes etc), the buggy, moses basket and steriliser, we managed to fit my parents stuff in too.

He uses it for work and recently brought 6 people back from the airport with a case each.

FrockHorror · 08/09/2008 17:05

Only thing is, it looks more like a van than a car

Romy7 · 08/09/2008 17:14

grand voyager? can't afford one in uk, but i still long for the one we had o'seas...
don't get a galaxy. every time i open the back door i get covered in a shower of assorted wheels and child conveyances where they're wedged in and dh has slammed the door to keep them all upright...

iliketosleep · 08/09/2008 17:16

the chrysler and espace look like they have the same amount of boot space as i have now and the caravelle would be too big for me to drive about

The Kia Sedona has some boot space with all 7 seats in - enough to fit a fold up pushchair like mclaren or similar in and dump bags etc on top. You can get a bit more room if your kids in the back have short legs and you push the two rear seats forward!!!!

Gobbledigook · 08/09/2008 17:20

Chrysler Grand Voyager

I LOVE mine

Sam100 · 08/09/2008 17:21

Also if you only need 4 seats in the back you can take one of the seats in the rear out and have all that side as boot space.

Gobbledigook · 08/09/2008 17:24

The GV has miiiiles, more space than a Zafira! SIL has a Zafira and there is no boot space whatsover with all her seats up. The GV has tons of boot space.

twocutedarlings · 08/09/2008 17:24

could you not get a smaller buggy? i know a friend of mine has a zafira and can fit a double maclaren in the boot, if both sets of seats are pushed forward and the hoods are removed..tis a PITA though!

Gobbledigook · 08/09/2008 17:28

There's a pic of my boys stood in the boot on my profile.

But the GV is not everyone's cup of tea anyway.

cargirl · 08/09/2008 17:33

I have an ancient espace and it has way more boot space than the Zafira and the seat are all full size and individually multi positioned.

CountessDracula · 08/09/2008 17:35

Toyota Previa has some

pigsear · 08/09/2008 17:40

i have a chyrsler grand voyager and its got plenty of room.

Used to get my twin mountain huge pushchair in the boot and still have room around it.

Plus if you get one with leather seats it comes with a button you can turn on to heat the front seats up. Such a luxury in winter a nice warm bum!!!!

BigBadMousey · 08/09/2008 17:42

Seat Alhambra/ Ford Galaxy / VW Sharan (all the same car just with styling differences - the alhambra is the best buy. You can indinvidually remove the seats to have whatever configuration of seats you like and even with 7 seats in I can get my urban detour in too.

do not get a voyager! They are not safe .

this is a helpful site (and explains about the voyager's 'safety issues'

BigBadMousey · 08/09/2008 17:45

btw- there have been similar threads before so well worth a search through the archives (in larger families topic)

iliketosleep · 08/09/2008 17:58

Gobbledigook was that picture with all the seats up?

Getting a smaller buggy isn't an option really as DD3 is only 12 days old so an small umbrella type wouldn't do. The buggy we have now is an umbrella fold type but slightly larger than ones for older children.

Thanks for all your answers

Q7, grand voyager

both very expensive and will be horrendous to tax in a few years.

The biggest of the merc estates has an option for an extra row of seats in the boot that according to the salesman we saw gives enough space for a useable boot too but he couldn't demonstrate it as he didn't have one.

We opted for an estate car as there are only 4 of us from next month. We'll worry about extra seats when we really really need them.

QueenBhannae · 08/09/2008 18:11

Do you need the seventh seat?
I get on really well with the Fiat Multipla even if it is an ugly beast lol.
I can fit large prams in the boot fully erect! Thats with all the seats up and still able to recline. The three plus three configuration works really well as they are alll full size seats and you can keep a close eye on the littlest one.
Congrats on the birth of Brooke as well

Loshad · 08/09/2008 18:25

wouldn't touch a GV, not safe - they have no stars in euro NCAP tests. Zafirs and picasso are both mini MPV's - you need a full sized one if you need all seven seats. Lots of manufacturers have withdrawn from that sector, although there are plenty of second hand models about. The Renault grand espace has the biggest boot of the ones currenlty available new.

fiplus4 · 08/09/2008 18:33

Plenty of space for 4DCs and buggies/luggage in the back of our Peugeot 807 - and it's been very reliable for 4+ years now. Fingers cdrossed it stays that way

iliketosleep · 08/09/2008 18:41

Thankyou queen, I was actually thinking of you during the last few weeks of my pregnancy (hoping i have the right person and not someone with a similar name) when I was patting my decent sized bump thinking of the pics of your mahoosive one

Just looking at grand espace and they look very roomy

soremummy · 08/09/2008 18:50

Have you looked at the grand scenic? If you dont need all seats up they fold into floor and I can get my pramette in no prob when 6 seats up

soremummy · 08/09/2008 18:51

Espace is HUGE especially the grand one
