Hi fellas, can I just ask your opinions on a bit of romance I have planned for tomorrow night. It's my new fellas birthday and I want to make it really special but am not sure if it's a bit much!

I am cooking a romantic candle lit meal with the table beautifully set with rose petals. Following a home made Boeff Bourginon served with fresh bread rolls there will be Key Lime pie (a bit like a cheesecake).

Afterwards I am planning to take him upstairs to a candle lit bath for two.

Moving over to the bedroom, wearing a basque and suspenders I plan to seduce him with an all over massage (with oils) from his feet upwards!

And I'm not prepared to tell you the rest!!

I've never done anything like this before and could do with the male perspective on whether it sounds intimate and romantic or naff and over the top!!!!

So, you get out of the bath and THEN put on a basque and suspenders?
Perhaps I'm out of touch, but not sure I could be bothered to put stuff on again after a bath for 2???
Have fun anyway!

Dottydot · 30/05/2008 22:24

I'm not a man... but I'm wondering if the combination of everything you've mentioned might make him think you're going to do something like propose?!

I'd probably not do the rose petals on the table and candles around the bath.

Also, if you go to loads of trouble and he doesn't respond with tons of compliments etc., you're going to be pissed off. The meal + bath + undergarments and massage will be quite enough, I'm sure!

SoupDragon · 30/05/2008 22:25

Save yourself the time/effort and skip the meal. And probably the bath too.

SoupDragon · 30/05/2008 22:25

But I'm not a man either

To be honest - I'd skip the bath bit as well!

goingbonkers · 30/05/2008 22:29

He's already planning the proposal so he won't be expecting that!! Wasn't sure about the bath thing so might save that for another occasion - was wondering how I would get all the clobber on quickly after a steamy bath!

He will def respond as he's a total romantic and a real gentleman but I'm not doing it for compliments. It will be great fun for me too!!

Thanks!!

Have just asked dh his opinion. He said ditch the rose petals (he also said start with the basque and finish with the boeuf, but that was his wishful thinking ) but otherwise he thought it sounded okay, as long as it's not your 2nd date or something v early on.

goingbonkers · 30/05/2008 22:31

Where are all the men???!!!

And sleepycat - I can't help planning! I'm known for being a planning freak! I must try to chill out!!!!

Way too much!
Get the shag over with. Then have the nice bath together and eat. Men think, talk and emote much better without being obsessed entirely on the idea of sex. And who wants a bath and a big meal followed by lots of jiggy stuff.

wilbur · 30/05/2008 22:33

If you're going to skip the bath, dh also suggested that you give a hint of what's going to happen after dinner - flash a bit of the basque while serving up, as it were.

Dh is now quite jealous of your new bloke. And I am going to have to get a basque. Sigh.

goingbonkers · 30/05/2008 22:34

Thanks to your DH wilbur! If basque comes 1st the beef would be ruined!

And no, it's not a 2nd date! That would be a bit much!!

OP posts:
pepperrabbit · 30/05/2008 22:35

DH was no help. He just smiled sheepishly and looked hopeful.... so I'm taking that as manly approval.
Though he did look puzzled about the rose petals

goingbonkers · 30/05/2008 22:37

Lol wilbur! He will know about the basque straight away as he always touches my arse when he kisses me!! He bought it for me a few weeks ago and I haven't worn it yet either so I think he'll suspect!

Don't be buying a basque - get DH to buy it! And you never know, it might just have given him some ideas of what to do for you!!

OP posts:
goingbonkers · 30/05/2008 22:41

That's good to know pepperrabbit! Was just gonna use the petals to jazz up the table a bit. Not spread them all around the house!!

Pinkchampagne · 30/05/2008 22:44

No point having a bath first if you're going to get all sticky straight after!!

Give him a good seeing to, then order a take away, and seen as it's his birthday, you could offer to pay for it! Ever the romantic me!

Limara · 30/05/2008 22:44

My dh said you could wear the basque whilst cooking him the meal, give him a taste of what he could have!

Pinkchampagne · 30/05/2008 22:45

You know that I am not a man either!

goingbonkers · 30/05/2008 22:54

Lol Limara! I don't fancy a night at A&E being treated for burns whilst wearing a basque!!! Nice idea but may result in an embarrassing distaster! And besides, I don't have any curtains in the kitchen and the neighbours are always out in the garden till late!

Hi again PC!! We do takeaway once a week so wanted to give that a miss!

Where's all the romance gone people??!!

I really think Dadsnet needs a piccie of you in your basque and suspenders before we can come to any sort of reasonable position from where to offer advice.

goingbonkers · 30/05/2008 23:40

Lol! I don't think my man would be too pleased about that! Strictly for his eyes only! But I will let you know how it goes!!! Hmmm, if only i could get some fireworks to let off at the crucial moment! Or is that really going too far???
