Hi fellas, can I just ask your opinions on a bit of romance I have planned for tomorrow night. It's my new fellas birthday and I want to make it really special but am not sure if it's a bit much!

I am cooking a romantic candle lit meal with the table beautifully set with rose petals. Following a home made Boeff Bourginon served with fresh bread rolls there will be Key Lime pie (a bit like a cheesecake).

Afterwards I am planning to take him upstairs to a candle lit bath for two.

Moving over to the bedroom, wearing a basque and suspenders I plan to seduce him with an all over massage (with oils) from his feet upwards!

And I'm not prepared to tell you the rest!!

I've never done anything like this before and could do with the male perspective on whether it sounds intimate and romantic or naff and over the top!!!!

Just saying.

Lol! Typical male response!!

a dh here.

I suggest bath last. Beef Bourginon + bath would make me pretty drowsy and ruin me for action.

Don't forget to wear something that just suggests what you've got on underneath.

The chef in me feels obliged to add that you must use beef fillet + decent wine for bouginon.

And a nice slow simmer... that should be your motto for the evening.

No, No! Chuck Steak for the BB, surely?? And any old wine, other than beaujolais....
'Slow simmer'? What? with all of that red meat??

VictorianSqualor · 31/05/2008 12:42

DP says leave the bath, be already dressed when you cook dinner and let him know, not lift up your dress and say 'hello there' but let him get a glimpse somehow.

VictorianSqualor · 31/05/2008 12:43

He also says rose petals are for girls.

wilbur · 31/05/2008 19:07

Good luck with the slow simmer tonight, goingbonkers.

Pinkchampagne · 31/05/2008 19:13

Yes, good luck with whatever you have finally decided to "do" with your man!

Thanks to everyone for your input! The night was a massive success (in more ways than one! )

He was totally gobsmacked at what I had done for him. The beef was delicious and as much as it pained me, I used a really good wine with the chuck steak and it paid off! I excelled myself!

He noticed every little detail and was so grateful! I even baked him a birthday cake with my dd which we had today at my parents house (full sunday roast with all the family!!) My parents even got out a bottle of champers and he couldn't believe it!!

He got a big treat in the bedroom as well although I ditched the bath - there would not have been time!! Didn't do the rose petals, but laid a single grande prix rose on the table and it looked fab!

The underwear really got his blood boiling!

So come on people - find the old romantic in you! It was worth every second of my time and we both had the best evening ever.

Fab! So pleased you had a good time and that he loved it. He sounds like a lovely bloke, and I bet he was thrilled with all the attention.

Pleased it went well, GB.

Toadinthehole · 02/06/2008 00:39

Glad it went well :-)

Just checked my BB recipe (Madame Saint-Ange); it says rump sirloin, not fillet. Silly me.

Been a while since I made it. Hmm...
