Please tell me why there is now a chicken section ?! Did I miss a meeting?

I feel as if I have come back from holiday into some weird parallel universe, where it's quite normal to have Chicken sections in forums and nobody bats an eyelid, and yet we still get the odd seether ranting on here about how MEN should not be allowed on a PARENTING forum, rant rant, seethe seethe, foam foam.

Can I post in the Chicken section if all I like to do is eat them?

And is there going to be a hamster section soon? And a guinea-pig section?

Yes UQD the guinea pig section is under review however the llama and alpaca sections are well on their way.

amytheearwaxbanisher · 30/03/2008 00:49

its very strange i looked in thinking it may be recipes and found they were discussing hatching eggs

nannynick · 30/03/2008 00:52

Does seem a bit strange, when there is no music section (supposedly that has to go under Culture). Not sure why chickens could not go under something else - food for example

SueBaroo · 30/03/2008 00:56

Chickens are peoples too!

amytheearwaxbanisher · 30/03/2008 00:57

yes but there is no dog/cat section so why chickens?

SueBaroo · 30/03/2008 02:01

I have no idea. Maybe it's because chickens straddle the line between pet, agarian lifestyles and dinner?

Not sure if it's possible for a chicken to straddle, mind.
MetallicCerise · 30/03/2008 02:04

There will an Egg section...just before the chicken one,I think.

S1ur · 30/03/2008 02:12

I refer you to the philosophy section metallic. are you sure the egg will come first?

amytheearwaxbanisher · 30/03/2008 02:16

lol slur

kiskideesameanoldmother · 30/03/2008 03:16

funny thread.

the chicken people lobbied MNHq long and hard UQ and they squawked under the pressure.

UnquietDad · 30/03/2008 11:46

And what are the arguments against a music section? Seems a logical idea to me.

OP posts:
QuintessentialShadows · 30/03/2008 11:49

Maybe it should come under ethical living?
It might need renaming to "Livestock" section, or farmers net....

MarsLady · 30/03/2008 11:50

I'm still reeling at the fact that they got rid of the sport section many moons ago. Loved that section...athletics, football, rugby, cricket, tennis.... sigh....... those days are gone!

fryalot · 30/03/2008 11:50

you've been on holiday???? how fecking dare you!

petition for a music section

I wonder what they would say if you posted on one of the chicken threads - you could maybe ask if it's better to leave the skin on, or peel it off first... please do us a link so we can all check out their replies.

(did you go anywhere nice, and was it the most important two weeks of your year?)

UnquietDad · 30/03/2008 15:08

Only in this country... Wouldn't say the most important!

Mumcentreplus · 30/03/2008 15:12

Chicken Section ...no music,no sex but frickin Chicken???..lol

UnquietDad · 30/03/2008 15:14

I propose that non-fans of poultry should re-christen said area the "Finger Lickin' Good" section.

Didn't realise raising chickens was so popular.

I doubt they would visit KFC though UD.

zippitippitoes · 02/04/2008 12:21

no mental health either

as weel as obvs no music

BigGitHamsterKillingDad · 02/04/2008 14:03

A chicken section?? Do they post pictures of them in their coops? (chickens in pose!)Must go and have a look. (nosey emoticom)
Think I will ask for a cricket Bat section cos that's the kind of boring git I am. Anyway come the summmer there will loads of mums wanting to know what's the best bat to buy for their little kids etc..
I tell you it's like the break up of Yugoslavia on here.

zippitippitoes · 02/04/2008 14:09

biggit look on my profile

BigGitHamsterKillingDad · 02/04/2008 14:56

Hmm Zippi...
My sister has got chickens maybe I will have to borrow them and make out they are mine on the profile!
Must say though she gave me some eggs last week and they were gorgeous! Knocked spots off the supermarket ones.
Though I do wonder whether home chickens if you know what I mean have samonella issues with their eggs, maybe that is a question for the chicken section.

zippitippitoes · 02/04/2008 14:58

they arent mine

they belong to my master i was jsut psoting them on the chicken /music topic

zippitippitoes · 02/04/2008 14:59

Cappuccino · 02/04/2008 14:59
