Man Talk - Mileage

ok, so with all this travelling about and jetting back and forth over the pond the last 1.5 years, i've had to sell 3 cars and buy another 3.

The whole mileage thing is weird. I'm a nerd so I calculate my mileage when I get another car. Here's the results:

1.8 ltr Renault Scenic - 30 mpg
1.6 ltr Hyundai Lantra Estate - 32 mpg
3.4 ltr Pontiac Montana - 28 mpg!

It seems that it just doesn't matter what you buy, unless you've got a tiny bubble car or a huge pick up truck, it just doesn't matter what you buy in engine size for anything in between.

These are all tip top cars btw. I'm very picky and calculating when I buy a car and make sure I'll get a good price on re-sale.

Screw it. When I get back to the UK I'll just buy something that suits the family and worry about stupid engine size.

I thought I'd just slip in unnoticed.

As the bishop said to the actress.

DaddyCool · 17/05/2007 21:02

Has she? That's sweet. I was sure she had my email address.

MrMariella · 17/05/2007 21:05

Dudey again!

So what was life like on the out??

Kevlarhead · 17/05/2007 21:06

Skoda Fabia, 1.2 42mpg, much better on long motorway runs. Midlands (Northampton) to Edinburgh on less than a tankful.

Kevlarhead · 17/05/2007 21:06

BTW, welcome back stranger

hub2dee · 17/05/2007 21:11

Diesel merc estate. 3.2 80K on the clock, getting on for 40mpg on long runs.

Hi hd. You can check out, but you can never leave, eh.

MrMariella · 17/05/2007 21:12

DaddyCool · 17/05/2007 21:17

hd - it's a very nice car to drive. Won't hit your 1 - 2K budget with the round headlights, but the square headlight models are actually better / older / cheaper. These guys are specialists in thae W124 series (as opposed to my W210 or the newer W211).

NotRhubarb · 17/05/2007 21:27

who is rhubarb?

DaddyCool · 17/05/2007 21:28

the person you are not.

hub2dee · 17/05/2007 21:28

V. sensible - seats in the boot with proper belts too. Low depreciation, general good reliability.

DaddyCool · 17/05/2007 21:29

HappyDaddy · 17/05/2007 21:30
