Does it bother you that women use this site also?

Sometimes very male-skewed things are discussed and I can't help feeling slightly uncomfortable when I read: "female perspective here..."

I'm sure I am BU but does anyone else feel the same? I am struggling to put into words why it bothers me but it does.

Because female perspective is consistently 'it is all the mans fault'

OnYerBikePan · 04/06/2016 08:54

Hmmmm... I'd wonder what sort of women you are mixing with.

Well this is just a reverse of a thread the other week here a woman complained about men using MN and the vast majority of responses were that it's unreasonable to be upset and that alternative viewpoints should be welcomed. What's the point you're trying to make?

Querty12345 · 04/06/2016 09:02

Woman's perspective here: fuck off

VulcanWoman · 04/06/2016 09:08

Touche, not.

IfTheCapFitsWearIt · 04/06/2016 09:10

Oh hey there, you found dadsnet.

Never mind I'll round them all up for you and take them back with me,

OnYerBikePan · 04/06/2016 09:48

As DS2(12) would say "aw, diddums"!

But yes The Other Thread was a bit Hmm...

OnYerBikePan · 04/06/2016 10:35

Hi MrS! yes a rare wandering off parcour for me.

Just couldn't help noticing after 10 yrs on and off that there's quite a lot of women use this site also. An open parenting on-line forum. And some are mums! Whoda thunk it??

OP posts:
OnYerBikePan · 04/06/2016 10:36

Morning PD - hope all is well.

OP posts:
MrSlant · 04/06/2016 10:43

I was a bit embarrassed by the other thread in parts.

May I self identify as a person not just a 'mum' please as well. Poor Carolyn and Justine, they probably thought Mumsnet was just a great catchy name all those years ago. Not a descriptor of the only people who could post on here.

Jbck · 04/06/2016 10:43

Im off to MNHQ to campaign for a Like button for this very thread Smile

crappymummy · 04/06/2016 10:46

it must be difficult- the Internet is famously hostile to men, no doubt you've had to dodge abuse and harassment from misandrists, they have been known to doxx men for daring to be visibly male online. I have heard of SWAT teams being called to men's homes by women trolls

You think you've finally found a safe-ish space, only to find, yes, it's full of women. Again.

Hopefully some of them will recognise the privilege that allows them to dominate public (and private, tbh) spaces and use it to speak up for you

Hmm
IfTheCapFitsWearIt · 04/06/2016 10:50

Arhhh I haven't read that thread after the first few pages.

Ha! Uber-subtle there VoD

OP posts:
MrSlant · 04/06/2016 11:08

I just had a quick trawl around the archives and you are posting in a similar fashion on similar threads back to the noughties Pan Grin.

I never think about whether people are male or female when I read threads. The only thing that makes me take note of a posters name is when I think they make good points (or chat about cycling Bike Bike Bike) or say something so sexist/racist/rude/idiotic and then they go on my 'list'. Should apologise that I didn't know you were a man for ages, nor most of the other male posters unless they have 'dad' as part of their nn.

whatdoIget · 04/06/2016 11:08

Ha yes I get it now! Was too subtle for me Blush
Obviously the offer to fuck off if you like still stands though Smile
