is weeing standing up a necesarry skill

Just been directed over here as DS cant wee standing up he used too but just stopped for some reason. DH seems to think it is necessary for a boy to be able to wee standing up. Any male opinions on this gratefully received.

Who 'directed' you over here? Sounds like someone is mildly taking the piss.

DS is 6. Pan I dont get it? Someone on my thread in chat thought I might benefit from a male perspective as to wether it really mattered or not.

Sorry you, I'd think it's a non-issue. If ds wants to wee sitting down or stood up it makes no difference at all. IF there is 'peer pressure' or he feels left out as it were he'll adjust and start decorating the wee wall with his name, and see how far up the wall he can go. That sort of thing. imho dh is being pretty silly.

My ds didn't stand until he started school. They have monster faces in the urinal for the boys to aim at.
Ds picked a monster off the urinal when he started (age4). I had to explain to him about urinals after he got in trouble for that. It had never crossed my mind before then.
I don't think it is an issue. They keep the wee in the loo when they sit down.

Its not a necessary skill, but rathe a useful one....

As pan said, he'll be peeing up the wall of the urinal in competition with his friends in no time.

Alternatively, your DH may well be desperate for DS to relearn how to wee standing up in order that he has someone to blame for the piss on the bathroom floor...

Legs apart and lean over slightly never taking your eye off the stream is the way to do it.

There are of course times when the unexpected double/triple/quadruple jet occurs and it makes the procedure all that much more tricky

The Quadruple Jet = nightmare.

Oh good lord I did not even know a quadruple jet existed. The micky taking is what DH was worried about but as DS has spent the last few days refusing to go at all I have told DH to leave it for now. Hopefully if he does get any peer pressure about it he will just decide to do it standing up.

It's a necessary skill. He might end up working in Middle East or elsewhere where only a hole in the floor is provided. It's the usual position for boys. Get him trained.

There's nowt wrong with siting down to have a wee after all you may suddenly have to a have a woo @ the same time.

Sitting down is not the issue! As already mentioned there are more important factors at play

• the seat (as in lift it)
• the aim
• the four jets

And

• the shake.

Only a father can teach the shake! And only by example.

It's not fun being a male and finding your work loos with pee all over the floor and on the seat!

It's a skill you develop for the benefit of others.

There are two kinds of men for this purpose.

Those who can't wee standing up; and
Those who are deluded and think they can.

You are all rubbish at it; I could do it just as well. Wee everywhere.

i pee sitting down. it's more comfortable and much tidier!

My 12 yo sits down (with the bathroom door wide open).

i dontbhave to be nagging about the baby crawling in piss dribbles so everybody's happy. I wish all males would do it.

Daddyofone how do you think females wee if caught short in the woods? Its a lot less splashy if you're crouching. A definite advantage.

No way! crouch, pull clothes forward by the crotch, out of the way and pee. Its inches from the ground, no backsplash. A quick shake (yes females shake too) and all done, long before the bears get the scent of piss. How do you shit in the woods? Do you pee standing then crouch for a poo?
