Just been directed over here as DS cant wee standing up he used too but just stopped for some reason. DH seems to think it is necessary for a boy to be able to wee standing up. Any male opinions on this gratefully received.

Am I right in assuming this has been proposed here because of the Swedish Labour party campaigning for the same thing?

digitaljournal.com/article/352108

"The local chapter of the Left Party, a socialist and feminist political party, in Sormland County Council, Sweden, is pushing to make standing while peeing illegal for men using the county council's public restrooms.

Feminists behind it, whodda thunk it.

"Party officials are pushing to make public restrooms in the county council "sitting only."

"The Left Party's Viggo Hansen, who made the proposal, said that ultimately he wants office toilets in the council to be genderless and would thus like to see only "sit-down" toilets in county council offices."

Men naturally stand to pee, woman naturally sit. How does men being forced to sit make it genderless?

I wonder how they will enforce this illegal activity?

"Perhaps some kind of unisex urinal could be developed so that women could wee whilst standing."

Amen to that.
I believed the propaganda about men being the only ones to piss everywhere until I worked in a pub. I was gobsmacked until one of the female staff explained the hovering thing that women do.

I'm approaching 50 this year and at my age sometimes you just can't be arsed to stand up..

Don't worry, he can pee how he likes it is however a useful skill to have when being caught short in the woods. Women are just jelous of that otherwise the 'shewee' wouldn't have been invented. lol

Don't worry.

Hmm.... well... as a boy of 6 he will find life a lot easier and a lot less mickey taking if he uses the urinals.

I just wonder if it is older boys at school who are causing this problem. You really need to find out why this happening and stop DH badgering him. It may be boys at school bullying him.

On the other I am seriously thinking of banning my boys age 11 and 13 from standing up at home to use the toilet. It just isn't sociable or sanitary and frankly sitting down is a whole lot easier.

At age 50 I find a nice chance of a sit down is always welcome. Men with dodgy bladders, prostates and such like always get told to sit down anyway by their doctor.

Andy - xposted and glad to see I am not alone.

I have also fitted a hand basin close by the WC in the utility room toilet of my new house which is at a convenient distance and height to rest my elbow upon when I am contemplating things. Grin

I am quite a bit younger than you Beta, but I would agree!

I have no basin to lean on but since being a father i sit down as often as i stand - just so tired! On occasion I have been known to drift into a revery coming to only at the sound of DW shouting 'Where are you?' from downstairs.

OP - it doesn't seem a huge issue to me. Rather than a necessary skill i would say it is a convenient one to have. Our son is nearly 7 and now stands and not always accurate so there are certainly pros and cons.

I regard the placing of bare cheeks (lower) in a place warmed by many others as somewhat unhygenic. It is cleaner to urinate standing up, and it is disappointing to hear of the Swedes reverting to Viking barbarity, albeit with an emasculated twist.

my hubby sits down to pee, always has. He can pee standing up but says it's just comfier and tidier and easier to sit down at home. I am relieved.

I hover when out (and sometimes at home if the loo seat's chilly) and can't honestly say I have ecountered this thing about messy ladies' toilets from wee spray. Maybe when drunk it's different, admittedly I don't spend much time in pub/club loos.

Ask any one who has worked in a pub.
Womens loos are are waay worse than mens.
The first time I saw it I thought some lads had bunked into the ladies and pissed everywhere for a laugh.

weeing standing up is not a necessity. I sit down when I wee and its much better and very comfortable but only when the place is clean also its good to learn the standing way

it can't be ALL pubs, I have been in a couple!

It's a jolly useful method.

And some ladies toilets can be as gross as men. I know from first hand experience.
