How does it feel tone in here?

I'm just pooling around on my iPad, wasting time, when I realized that Dadsnet is in the club section of mn and wondered how people felt about that?

Would it be more relevant to be in the parenting section, or does there even need to be a separate section?

Just curious, really, but it sort of feels like being a Dad is some kind of hobby group you might sign up to on a Thursday evening, when I suspect that really it's part of everyday life.

well I think that was as much scandal as it got until DL admitted on a relationships thread that he slapped his wife and then it was all over

actually that might not have been him Confused there was another dad. I know with dadslib there was a big argument about who should and who shouldn't be called or specified as an engineer that got him into trouble once and a big debate about degree snobbery re. engineers.

Not very interesting eh? :o

you all get your knickers in a twist about allsorts now. We are of the forgotten generation

KickTheGuru · 15/08/2012 20:08

You people made me stay on here and now my DH is cooking ME dinner

Whose-a-genius den?!!!

MrGin · 15/08/2012 20:10

:)

please report back with a review

KickTheGuru · 15/08/2012 20:52

Right, I made the salad and he grilled some chops. Chops were yum. Salad was good. I may tuck into ice cream.

How was risotto?

madas · 15/08/2012 20:57

Thats fridays treat lol it was a nice steak tonight.

KickTheGuru · 15/08/2012 21:00

I think we may pop out for a quick swim. I am a type 1 diabetic so I get to eat shit and then train and it doesn't kill me.

I traded the cycle for a swim though...

Steak is nom

madas · 15/08/2012 21:04

Type 2 here, prefer to cycle tho.

KickTheGuru · 15/08/2012 21:08

Triathlete until I was diagnosed just about 2 months ago with severe DKA, glucose level of 37 and hba1c of 15.9%. Nearly dead - yay!

Cycling is cool but I need to not have insulin and eat lots of shit Grin

I tend to hypo though after heavy training in the early morning so it's a bit rubbish but the training is worth it

Then I can cycle for hours and not die! Hurrah!

madas · 15/08/2012 21:13

couch potato until a year ago hb1ac 12.5 but down to 6.5 6 months later. Have still got more weight to lose but am on the right track. My shit eating days are gone (most of the time) I do miss chocs and puds tho :(

KickTheGuru · 15/08/2012 21:18

HA I beat you with the hba1c Grin

I've done well though - mine was done the other day and it's taken 2 months to get down to 7.8%

They said they thought me doing the stupid sports delayed how long it took for me to completely drop. But they also said I had about 3 hours left before I'd be dead and that my body took longer to crash, but crashed properly.

I've still not come across a type 1 with stats as cool as mine though. I started to vomit and we thought I was pregnant so we just kind of left it while I crawled to the kitchen eating ice chips. Turned out I was only nearly dead Grin

How you feeling with it? You settling in to it now?

KickTheGuru · 15/08/2012 21:19

Type 2 can be reserved though - so keep at it and you may wake up one day and be able to treat yourself with choc puds and stuff

The insulin means I can eat what I want. I guess I'm fortunate in that

KickTheGuru · 15/08/2012 21:19

Reversed rather Hmm

madas · 15/08/2012 21:29

When i saw your stats i thought bloody hell you did have a narrow squeek lol
It has turned my life upside down for the better, i eat better exercise more. At my age im pretty much stuck with it, its just more of a damage limitation thing.

KickTheGuru · 15/08/2012 21:32

Yeh mine isn't a big deal but I find that insulin is just happier when I go for a walk. I need to watch when I train (but for me, it's a reason to gobble ice cream before I go out), but I'm definitely more aware.

"At your age"!?? You can't be that old?!! Wink

madas · 15/08/2012 21:37

I will admit to being over 30 :)

KickTheGuru · 15/08/2012 21:38

So am I! Not by too much though Grin

madas · 15/08/2012 21:39

plenty more for me lol

AnyFucker · 15/08/2012 21:39

that dadslib sounded like a charmer Smile

MrGin · 15/08/2012 21:48

I will admit to being over 40 :(

:)

No noms for me tonight. I rarely eat in the evenings.

madas · 15/08/2012 21:50

ok im 51 there you made me own up.

KickTheGuru · 15/08/2012 21:50

Wow you're all young! Grin

Why on EARTH do you not eat in the evenings? It's the only meal I have with my husband so the only one I put any effort into.

rubbish wife??

MrGin · 15/08/2012 21:56

Madas.......... you old git :o

< elbows in ribs >

Actually most of my dearest friends are older.

I don't have diner unless my dd is here. I'm single and it's too much hassle cooking for one so I just have lunch. Simplifies my life a bit.

< stops ignoring AF >

How was your cow ?

KickTheGuru · 15/08/2012 21:59

Aw it's like being in the twilight zone... Grin

madas · 15/08/2012 22:05

Mr G, guilty on both counts :)

AnyFucker · 15/08/2012 22:24

You talkin' to me now, MrG ?

I don't have to bog off back to relationships (which is seriously upsetting and depressing atm..) ?

The cow was very nice, and I always eat in the evenings despite being over 40yo. In fact I probably break all the healthy eating rules and eat the majority of my food after 6pm and stuff that is bad for me.

I had rag puddings (suet puddings with cow in them)...it's a northern thing, with chips, gravy and < ahem > frozen peas. Then cake. I should be dead.
