There are quite a lot of football fans on MN, and also loads of football-haters. If we hide here in Dadsnet, none of the detractors will find us. But if they do, they are welcome to come here and moan.

You don?t have to be male to post here, of course. (No-one would say women can?t post in the Dadsnet section, just like no woman would EVER say men aren?t welcome on Mumsnet?)

Footy fans please sign in with

I love that notion that hitting the woodwork was 'unlucky'. No, it means you missed the target! You would have been much more productive in passing to a team mate instead.(usually).

Barton - there is no hope. He has had therapies, experience, some of the best managers and coaches in the world working with him. And he still remains the young thug from Huyton he always was. #blamebartonforlosingusthetitle

I see Joey Barton hadn't changed AngrySad

Got on a plane back to England, taking off almost at the end of today's matches.

Blokes ahead of me in the queue started discussing the latest results; I immediately left the queue and joined the back, because I didn't want to hear anything.

If I couldn't be in the country, I wanted to watch it all unfold on MOTD, just now.

After the amazing title deciders had been shown simultaneously, and relegation for Bolton was shown, they showed Arsenal v West Brom on its own. I thought they were going to switch back and forth between our match and the Tiny Totts match; so when they showed ours on its own I was v fearful that we had lost and they were going to simulcast the Spurs game and the Newcastle game.

Happily my fears were unfounded, and Chelsea can now go on and win the Champs League and deny Spurs the 4th spot. I like Spurs more than Chavski, so I'd prefer them to have Champs League footy next season, but there's no denying it'd be funnier.

Quite a story, BB!

Bit late for chat, but what a twisty-turny thing, still! Speak again.

BelfastBloke · 14/05/2012 07:13

How did you experience it, Pan? Where were you? Did you assume it was in the bag? Did you watch Citeh's match, or the final few seconds?

How does it feel now?

I hadn't realised it had been so late so many times before. Apart from the Lasagne-gate year, of course Grin

Pan · 14/05/2012 18:31

I had no idea St Totteringham was such a feast day! And so moveable - a bit like the Easter Ascension into heaven....

ach it was okay in a big way. I was contractually obliged with dd and one of her friends and given the 'Against All Odds' situation it didn't seem to be such a big deal...until Mr Mackie The Knife did his business. I had BBC Final Score, the BBC web site and R5 Live all in a symphony. For about 20 mins it all seemed possible but in an eerie way. Watching Crooks et all watching the game at the Etihad was frustrating..but even going into injury time there was still a sneaky feeling that this was just destined to be their day. And Aguero , my fav. Blue did the damage! Matey and me went into Glossop later and there were tons of Blues everywhere ? just out of the woodwork for a bit of glory-seeking, ha!??biking past the Etihad at 7.30am today and there were still bits of paraphinalia all over the place. Thousands of blues on trains going in the opposite direction to me just now, on way to M/c ? and yes it?s on the tv now!

I?ve had 3 extended convos with reds today and we all sort of agreed that we wouldn?t have deserved it. SAF has done miracles this season to break into the squad Cleverly, Jones, DeGhea and get Smalling more experience whilst at the same time having to do without Vidic and Fletcher all season. And relying on Giggs and Scholes so much was a bit of an indictment. Yet still amass so many points was a true management feat. But we were scraping by.

Arse and Spurs ? def Squeaky Bum Sunday ? looks like you may get the keep v.P after all. Was reading that his wife has already made the decision, so only the price tag to discuss!

Oblomov · 15/05/2012 11:48

What an amazing Last day.
Incredible.
We watched the Man City game. As they were 2-1 down, and Arsenal were at 2-2. But we looked at eachother and knew there was more to come. Butt he excitement, of the last 2 goals, was nto what we were expecting.
The whole thing was just fab.

Everyone talkign about Barton. But Tevez should have been sent off too, for his original barge on Barton. Not a single person talked about that. And Balloteli just had to get involved too.

We are now relying on Bayer Munich.
I started my new job yesterday and my Boss is a Gooner. Not good. WinkHe says we'll never see another like it. He also said that evryone he knew was cheering on Bayer, and that no one wanted Chelsea to lift CL trophy. I was surprised because I never imagined that so many would be against Chelsea.
So, we wait for one more week. Please Bayer, please Bayer ..............

BelfastBloke · 15/05/2012 12:31

I can't see myself cheering on Chelsea, or looking forward to that twat John Terry lifting the trophy before Arsenal gets a chance to, so I suppose I'll be supporting Bayern.

Bayern had a shocking result at the weekend, mind. Beaten FIVE-Two! (Just as much as Arsenal beat Spurs by! which sent Spurs into a massive tailspin). So they may well be demoralised.

CurrySpice · 15/05/2012 14:41

BB more likely they put out a second string team, surely.

I am also supporting the Germans.

ElBurroSinNombre · 15/05/2012 15:10

Never mind the CL on Saturday - it is a mere sideshow to the main event - the biggest prize in football ....

Wembley stadium 3pm, Blackpool FC vs West Ham

A sea of gleaming tangerine adding light to the proceedings.

Looking at the internet, it would seem that in the minds of many Hammers, West Ham are already in the premier league. Can't help thinking that all this will help the us. Holloway has started the mind games - 'No pressure on me, just enjoying the moment, proud of my team, win or lose I won't get sacked the next day etc.'. Should be a great game with plenty of goals and could go either way.

Can't wait.

Ilovemyteddy · 15/05/2012 15:34

More support for Bayern from me too.

And I'll be cheering on Blackpool. The Premiership needs characters like Ian Holloway Smile

Good luck on Saturday!

ElBurroSinNombre · 16/05/2012 07:10

Thanks ted

I will be supporting Chelsea after watching Blackpool get promoted. I would rather a team with 3 or 4 English players in it win the CL than a team from another country. It's good for our league and the England team. Would like to see Sturridge get a chance - a great player / prospect who has spent most of the season as a substitute.

BelfastBloke · 16/05/2012 14:35

England only taking 4 strikers, even though Rooney suspended for first two games.

And Woy is taking Carroll not Crouch!

(Also not taking Carrick)

OP posts:
Pan · 16/05/2012 15:40

At least the "England Expects" headline writers will be necessarily modest in demands.....that squad looks pretty thin.

Pan · 16/05/2012 15:42

sans Crouch.

ElBurroSinNombre · 16/05/2012 16:06

Crouch is pretty thin!

Would have had Johnson instead of Downing and Sturridge instead of Milner. Rest of it looks OK, well as good as it could be. To me England have 3 world class players; Hart, Rooney, Cole - the others are generally overrated. I would not fancy a one paced central midfield of Barry and Parker - remember how the Germans exposed us in this area two years ago (and Robben and Huntelaar two months ago).
I expect Hodgson to do a good job and produce a team that is more than the sum of its parts - we still won't win though.

DreamingofSummer · 16/05/2012 19:10

KKK. Good riddance you racist bigot. Sod off and take the T shirts with you

might be okay to 'like' Liverpool FC again now. Well, a bit more any way.
