I don't think we have a thread yet. The Giro starts on 7th May. Let's discuss.

I am super excited because Movistar may be letting Carlos Betancur start. AKA as Baby Bunny.

That was a stage and a half, wasn't it? BikeBikeBike.

That was what the Giro is all about.
Valverde cracked spectacularly.

Awesome and my reverse psychology worked Bike Bike Bike

DS1 doesn't think my adoption application will stand much chance though, much as he'd love a professional cyclist for a big brother.

I did feel for Atapuma though, he worked incredibly hard.

it must be utterly heart-breaking to be told the pack are going to swallow you up imminently.

and it's a small matter of an uphill TT tomorrow. Easy.

Really looking forward to that.

Really exciting couple of days Bike

I'm pleased Valverde cracked today, I can't be doing with him at all.

Very impressed with Chaves & Kruijswijk, I'd like to see one of them win it and they have a great chance now.

Tomorrow's TT is going to be very interesting.

No spoilers but my boy Bob had quite a good day maintaining his iron grip on the white jersey.

In other news, while there have been a lot of troubling incidents with motos recently, sometimes the victim had it coming. (And yes I probably am going to hell for laughing)

yep saw that in real time, and knew that was the link. Too much mountain air?

Is this a notable Giro for the amount of lipstick being advertised? Is it Rimmel or MAC? Grin

Yet again Orica has done its hiring via a somewhat suspect driving school ...

I love the look of the driver, looking up as if that is going to make any difference. Much prefer the driver in 2012 (?) with his head in his hands. Grin

What a finish! Even I felt a bit sorry for the man who came in second. Not that sorry obviously. Grin

That was a GREAT stage. Apart from Zakarin, that looked like it could have been horrific, so glad it's 'just' a broken collar bone. Someone's team points must be looking pretty impressive right now Grin Bike Grin.

Indeed! DS1 came home from school and accidentally went on FB as we were watching catchup and I allowed him the swear that escaped his lips when he realised he'd accidentally seen the results before we watched the end of the race. Very sportingly he left the room so I could rock quietly to the rhythm of the pedals alone until they finished. With all my mobile devices smugly turned off next to me Grin.

I was heartbroken for yesterdays maglia rosa (can't say/spell his name for the life of me), he fought a good fight, goodness only knows how his body will feel tomorrow after a fall like that.

DramaAlpaca · 28/05/2016 00:06

I know, I feel so sorry for him. When I saw him fall I was surprised he managed to get back on the bike, and he did amazingly well to limit his losses even though he was clearly in a lot of pain. He will be so sore tomorrow - apparently he has a cracked rib, as well as lots of bruises. There will be mental scars too. Poor lad.

ooch! Thank the lord it was snow on the banking and not anything else. Losing the jersey will be a trauma difficult to get over.

Milan is the sporting capital of Europe this weekend, with the European Cup Final at the San Siro tonight and the fight for pink being resolved tomorrow.

Yes, WheelofPan team is doing remarkably well, isn't it? Chaves, Jungels, Trentin, Uran, Nieve all chipping in. We're now 303 out the 14,000 or so.
Chapeau to them, or currently cappello. Bike

Bad news coming from Stage 3 in Tour of Belgium. Two motorbikes crashed into each other and fell into the peloton. 11 riders off to hospital. Stage eventually abandoned.

Report
OnYerBikePan · 28/05/2016 13:28

Nieve took a stage by solo-ing from 35km out. But 85km?? Is it possible?

I'm watching on catch up so I'm a good bit behind at about 109km, so I'd better avoid the thread until later. Sounds exciting though!

News from the Tour of Belgium doesn't sound good.
