I thought it was time to move over here from Telly Addicts as we're now discussing Joseph the musical, and not Any Dream Will Do. The other thread was about to get too full anyway.

What kind of car are you after, Slayer?
You're better off selling yours privately. I was offered £1,000 for mine on part exchange and I've just sold it privately for £2,200. It's more hassley but well worth it financially.
what's the weather like for you lot? It's glorious sunshine down here (I should be in the garden instead of at my desk ).
I just took the boys to a big park with a lake where they had craft activities going on and they made a crown each. That's my duty done for the day

slayerette · 30/07/2007 14:11

You are a Good Mother. We have glorious sunshine so what did I do? I dragged ds into town and we bought his school uniform

Am looking for a Yaris - have one already but want to upgrade to a newer model. The website (Parkers) did seem to suggest I could get more from a private sale so might look into it. But you're right, it is more hassle and I'm so lazy... Have emailed man at garage to tell him I'm aware I'm being ripped off so will await his reply. Everyone's ripping me off today

LyraBelacqua · 30/07/2007 14:30

I went to all the hassle and expense of advertising mine in the Autotrader and eBay and in the end sold it to someone who'd seen the handwritten for sale sign in the back window.

Berrie · 30/07/2007 14:46

Well...am not up to Lyra's standards what with park and craft action, but have put up ds's Thomas the tank engine train set which has only ever been used twice as it takes me an hour to work out how it all goes together...he is very happy anyway though once his sister wakes up and trashes it all I don't expect much harmony in the house!

Bowl of bean soup...5 dates...might have 5 more too...

oh yes no walk yet

LyraBelacqua · 30/07/2007 15:09

Get off the computer and run up and down the stairs

Berrie · 30/07/2007 16:03

Oh alright then

Berrie · 30/07/2007 19:29

noggin of cold beef
rice cake
3 raspberries

Conversation with DH about whether we wouldn't rather be fat...

Berrie · 30/07/2007 20:39

steak and salad
2 glasses of elderberry
popcorn....

LyraBelacqua · 30/07/2007 20:42

It's hard at first but you'll get used to it. just think about the hundred pounds. What will you spend it on when you win?

binklehasflipped · 30/07/2007 20:42

cant believe we're smiths fans too!! that's made my day.

Berrie, I'm totally with you on the losing a stone thing - I am booked inb with the hypno lady again next week so she can reprogramme me and get my bum into gear again to work of all that portugese ice-cream

My lovely husband got me a signed framed album sleeve of "the queen is dead" for my 30th birthday, bless! Coolest thing he's ever done to date

BoingBoing · 30/07/2007 20:45

Swigs of OJ & a well deserved fag. Just done the VAT. phew! I'll finish it tomorrow as my head is now spinning and I'm sure there's beer in the fridge! But at least Lee's been crooning in my ears and the HMCE now owe me money for a change.

LyraBelacqua · 30/07/2007 20:46

I want that album sleeve

BoingBoing · 30/07/2007 20:48

And Berrie, I'm right behind you on the weight loss thing. I need to motivate myself to actually use the gym and shift the 2 stone that seems to have accumulated somehow. Good luck!!!!

LyraBelacqua · 30/07/2007 20:48

So, we're all 35, Smiths fans and in lust with Lee Mead.
Do we all also have 2 DC and a dh called John?

BoingBoing · 30/07/2007 20:50

I'm not so sure of that Lyra - I'm not 35, DH isn't called John, I've only 1 DC and I've only a passing liking for the Smiths. But I am in lust with Lee Mead so can I still be part of your gang?

LyraBelacqua · 30/07/2007 20:56

Are you around 35 (give or take 5ish years)? That'll do.
MY DP's not called John either, it was the first name that sprang to mind. Inventive aren't I

BoingBoing · 30/07/2007 21:00

38, but my colleagues all think I'm more like 36 - even when they know I'm older. It must be that Boots stuff!!!
And John's soooo original!

binklehasflipped · 30/07/2007 21:14

I was going to ebay at one point Lyra. Went to see Morrissey at the London Palladium last year and there were sound problems and he basically had a hissy fit and walked off early, no encore etc so I fell out with him for a bit but he put it all right (and then some) at the gmex some months later so I got over it..

LyraBelacqua · 30/07/2007 21:17

See, I'm not so keen on Morrissey on his own. I adored the Smiths but without Johnny Marr co-writing the songs, that certain something just wasn't there.

binklehasflipped · 30/07/2007 21:21

See, I came to the smiths very late. I liked Morrissey so I started listening to the smiths then wished fervently that I'd gotten into them years ago instead of thinking "who does that bloke think he is, pratting around with his pretend hearing aid and gladioli in the bumcrack!" and then going off to listen to scritti politti or similiar instead

LyraBelacqua · 30/07/2007 21:29

Scritti Politti
what other bands did you like in the 80s? I was into Adam and the Ants in the early 80s, then Duran Duran, then the Smiths in the mid-80s. The late 80s was a mixture of rock (Guns n Roses etc) and all the silly hip hop/acid house that was so big at the time.

binklehasflipped · 30/07/2007 21:31

duran duran (acceptable)
spandau ballet (borderline)
johnny hatez jazz (yikes)
curiosity killed the cat ()

I was a slave to SMASH HITS !!

LyraBelacqua · 30/07/2007 21:36

Ah, i remember heading for the newsagents after school to read the lyrics to my favourite songs in Smash Hits.
I liked Curiosity too

binklehasflipped · 30/07/2007 21:38

remember when everyone fancied ben von pelier or whatever he was called? Wonder what he's doing now....

LyraBelacqua · 30/07/2007 21:39

Apparently he's still clinging to the glory days, performing the same old tunes in workingmen's clubs and the like. Very sad. And he's balding.
