Looks like I inadvertently started a Shakespeare quotations thread on the Film quotes...Have been challenged by Worktostaysane. Come on all you English scholars! Here's an easy one to start us off:

"Kiss me Kate!"

Back to Shakespeare: (don't know about St Crispin's Day)

"He has no children."

DrDaddy · 04/04/2007 11:19

On St. Crispin's Day

[Hint: on eve of large battle]

LadyMacbeth · 04/04/2007 11:26

Well I would know that one!

Elasticwoman · 04/04/2007 21:20

Would you, Lady Macbeth? So why don't you tell us?

Henry V, DrDaddy?

janeite · 05/04/2007 19:18

"He has no children" is Macduff, on hearing that his family have been murdered; in what is one of my favourite speeches of all time.

Elasticwoman · 05/04/2007 20:43

Janeite would you prefer quotes from a different author? It is a truth universally acknowledged that (wo)man cannot live on Shakespeare alone.

janeite · 05/04/2007 20:56

Lol! It is also a truth universally acknowledged (or at least by the people I've spoken to) that ITV should never have re-made "Mansfield Park" or "Persuasion"!!

Unfortunately Jane didn't really write enough for us to be able to play the quotes game with her!

Elasticwoman · 05/04/2007 21:07

Shame about Mansfield Park as I like Billie Piper - but she was so wrong for the part! And the book is too long to be compressed into one tv prog. Persuasion was better.
