NaNoWriMo

Hello, is anyone doing NaNoWriMo next month? Am thinking I might, but a bit challenged time wise right now!

I'm seriously considering it. How many words does it have to be?

50,000 :)

I'm going to do it. It's come just at the right time for me. I'm spending this month planning and then (hopefully) I'll be ready to go on 1st November. I can't wait!

I'm seriously considering it. Its a great way to motivate yourself to actually get it done.

MissB, were you using a different name on here before?

Don't think so Imperial. I've been on Mn since about 2007 but have name changed three times.

Why do you ask?

Oh no reason, it's just when the Jeffrey thing happened everyone changed their names. I wondered whether you had, too. I'm rubbish at remembering names on here!

Hi everyone - think I might give it a bash too. My discipline is awful though. I'll be very pleased if I manage 50,000. Has anyone done it before? Any tips?

I haven't done it before so tip free apart from 'start writing, keep going' .

Lots of useful / inspirational stuff on the website though.

I'm curious, are people planning to write every day? Or just weekdays? How much time/ how many words are you planning to do in each session?

I would need to write every day to get that word count. As a general rule I aim for 1000 and hope inspiration takes over. I hate writing to a word count though - but I guess NaNoWriMo is all about the word count!

I get that. I think 1000 a day is a good minimum, though I'd have to be pretty determined to get tat done on a weekend, my family are a bit demanding...
I might aim for 1200 minimum every week day and see where it gets me.

I did it last year, but didn't sign up on the site as it was part of a larger novel, and also because I handwrite. That took me 22 days. Shamefully, almost a year later I still haven't finished the novel, so I'm in again for the final 42k or so words, for which I'll give myself 26 days.

What kind of novel will it be, EatingMyWords?

YA (I think- uni students, anyway), contemporary fantasy. A woman gets stuck in the 'other world' and has to work out whether she was betrayed by her best friend or boyfriend.

What's yours Imperial?

This will sound really dumb but it hadn't occurred to me to sign to the website. Does anyone know if it's worthwhile, or can you just muddle through without it?

Mine are psychological suspense.

It sounds like a good plot. It must be hard with YA because reading ages differ so much. Have you read a lot of that genre?

Can someone explain what this is? I'm writing a book atm just as a hobby but would be cool to do something with it!
