8 teenagers in one car that crashed

Fromhere1 · 11/08/2026 18:49

So they were driving the wrong way on a motorway and crashed in to a single driver. At 5.30am. Apparently the car was stolen. I'm seeing photos on tiktok and they look to be very young.

Where the hell are the parents in this?! I'm seeing tiktoks where the families of these 8 boys are asking for prayers, etc. I wonder if they feel any shame at all?! Or is that an emotion they are unfamiliar with.

I think these parents need to be held accountable in some way... My sympathy lies entirely with the driver of the other car.

Why do people always say on stories like this 'where were the parents'? How are we all supposed to know?! Its 8 families of teenagers?! They have all decided to be idiot rebels for a night and have a joyride and now they have had an accident. Parents could be good or crap. They are teenagers. We don't watch them 24/7. They probably snuck out when their families were sleeping, watching tv or working, who knows?! They just did!!!? Someone always there with their big pointy finger to blame blame blame the families. Its these teenagers faults. They decided to do it. Their choice. Their fault.

Have you read the whole thread? This isn't a case of some boys deciding to go joyriding for one night.

The media in this country is terrified of being accused of racism. Their reporting is always vague on the background of certain individuals and the word Traveller is not mentioned anywhere in proceedings, well not that I can see. That would be racist even though Travellers are not a race but an ethnic group. Enda Kenny started all this and Travellers capitalised on it by labelling anyone who was negative towards them as racist.

Similar is happening WRT asylum and illegal immigrants who commit heinous crimes. No one says they are just guests in our country and benefitting from our generosity and largesse. Not a word, but it's not the same if a citizen commits a crime. Any negativity towards irregular immigrants (no visa/passport) is constantly given the racist moniker.

The Government for some reason actively supports this lack of transparency. So the law abiding citizen is muzzled and the criminals stay anonymous for the most part, well their background does.

It's all a bit like the trans situation. Say a word against that cohort i.e. you don't believe men can be women etc. and immediately you are silenced by being called "transphobic" and are in danger of losing your job the next day.

Something or someone has decided that we shouldn't discuss this openly. I just fail to understand why. Does anyone know or have a clue about this complete stifling of debate when Travellers and irregular immigrants are involved, because both seem to have inordinate protection in the media and by Government. Baffled.

So well put. I agree with everyone single word.

On an aside I wish they'd stop call it joyriding. Its not. Its deathriding.

Have you done any further reading into this story?

How many times would the guards need to contact you about your children before you might take a bit of responsibility?

Just saw a photo of the 3 sisters who were injured, one is a social worker, another a teacher. The poor little boy critically injured in hospital and probably wants his manny for comfort and she can’t be there for him.

Sorry but I can and do judge these absolute scum.

Don't make excuses for them They chose to drive the wrong way down a motorway and didn't realise that they could injure or kill themselves and, more importantly, other innocent people?

I have every sympathy for the people in the other care but none whatsoever for the 5 waste of space pieces of shit

This .
They were out of control criminals and I think
of all the crimes they now can’t commit . They don’t care what misery they cause and that’s now over .
They died through their poor choices . I
hope the family they hit pull through .

Normal, decent people who contribute to society. I hope they recover well.

Yes of course. They were paying their taxes unlike the scum out at night robbing and deathriding. Its everything thats wrong about our country.

A whole family impacted because theres no laws and no deterrents. Picture what the wedding they were supposed to be at was like.

DaffodilDoes · 18/08/2026 19:16

Five fewer idiots around to terrorise society and drain resources. Oh well. No sympathy for them whatsoever.

Hoping the injured family all recover from this horrific accident, thoughts with them and their loved ones.

This is what makes me so sad. They won't. At least not like they were before.

Their lives are irrevocable changed, and it could have been prevented.

Im usually a MN viewer rather than contributor but this has made me so sad and disappointed in where our country has gone to. It says everything about what we now are and also everything about what we could be with good governance and deterrants but arent.

Its one situation where I hope this family sues the ass off the state. I'd bet least one of the scumbags was on bail, likely with a curfew and had a list of convictions as long as his arm.

You know absolutely nothing about the circumstances that resulted in this.

Shame on you.

I grew up with two sets of neighbours whose children spent their teen years inflicting misery on everyone else.

If you have the time, I can outline the exact circumstances from the time the kids were toddlers that led to the teens' behaviour. The short version is that the parents were scum.

As adults, the delinquent teens have been in and out of jail for decades. The most serious crime was armed robbery.

This if from a detective garda and he's not wrong

This is a very strong message into the programme Deise Today and one which everyone should read in relation to car chases :
‘Hi Damien.
I am a D Garda in the South East. Just my input : there’s no way in hell I would sign up for pursuit training if offered it in the job and I would be shocked if any other Garda member did or does.
‘Think about it ….the way Gardai are the first ones to be blamed if anything goes wrong in relation to these type of incidents. We are guilty until proven innocent by public opinion and Fiosrú; why the hell would I put my job, my family, my mortgage, my pension and my mental health at risk to drive the wrong way down a motorway after clowns stupid enough to throw their lives away???
‘If those Gardai hadn't stopped the other night, if they had been trained to pursue and if they had done everything 100% right, and if those five lads had still crashed and died, I can GUARANTEE you the lives of those Gardai would be absolutely turned upside down right now and for a long time to come.
‘No thanks.

Fromhere1 · 18/08/2026 22:18

I've just seen the gofundme for the three sisters...one is a Teacher and another is a Social Worker.

I can't imagine the absolute hell that their families and friends are going through. Hopefully they will pull through and, in time, be able to move on from this horrific incident.

My husband is a Guard....I said to him earlier he'd better not apply to do that training. He said not a chance in hell would he do it! They really are not paid enough to do that...

I don't blame him or any guard that wouldn't want to do it.

Rondayvu · 19/08/2026 08:06

So the driver was the polish lad not that his nationality has anything to do with it just to point out which one he was, was also the driver from the previous stolen car going the wrong way with 8 kids in it. He was on bail for similar charges and well known to the gardai. It was only a matter of time for that lad really.

More from the me me me culture here

That's terrible. While I get if a loved one died you wouldn't care much for the outside world but to purposefully cause issues like that it's just selfish.

Actually that’s their job - to protect the public so if they are safely trained and supported by their management then of course they should do it .

Mathair2 · 19/08/2026 09:41

I cant believe the travelling community are trying to bring out they are being discriminated against. I couldn't give a shite what community this group of scumbags are a part of... the fact they were well known to the gardai aged 15-17, were well known for stealing, were part of a gang who drive the wrong way down motorways for the craic, and like to record and share themselves breaking as many laws as possibly..... I'd be saying the same thing... absolute scumbags! Hopefully the 4 in the other car recover physically as I doubt they will ever mentally recover from this!

parallolo · 19/08/2026 09:44

I'd say if the Gardai opened up recruitment to some bruisers from say Eastern Europe to do the pursuit training, with suitable remuneration, they'd get them.

EU free movement, and time to think outside the box now.

That's tongue in cheek, but it could work just the same. An elite force to tackle these lawless gangsters and travellers. A law unto themselves, and it cannot go on any longer. If our own Garda force won't do it, well....

DeanElderberry · 19/08/2026 09:58

I remember when playing chase games in fast cars was a thing in the early 80s. The trick was to steal a car (BMW particularly favoured) that went faster than Garda cars. If a Guard was injured or killed that was regarded as a 'score'.

That was not Travellers. No social media then, no motorways. Cousins of mine lost several of their cousins in a head on crash with the little darlings. The fad faded partly because of the policy of locking them up but also because of the heroin epidemic and consequent AIDS disaster, and later the work of the CAB. But also by having a policy of not joining in the race. Does anyone know whether there's organised on-line gambling about the outcomes of these chases?

In the 1980s it was a tough time to live in a law-abiding working class community, just as this time it's tough to be a law-abiding Traveller.
