Very sad to read this today. A very talented musician. May he rest in peace.

It's been amazing. I live in London but am actually away on holiday elsewhere in the UK. Glen's brother sent me the funeral details earlier but I won't be able to go.

I'll try and watch it online if I can (subject to what the kids are doing on holiday that day!).

I'm hoping the London Irish centre might do some sort of tribute later in the year. There's bound to be one in Dublin sometime so I'll try and go to that if I can.

This is what I'm now hearing. What's the truth of it?

His comments about "falling in love with her for years" are sickening. Hiding in plain sight.

He had known Marketa since she was 13 as he knew her father. Years later they did the film Once together when she was 19 and he was 31 - although he's been in contact with her and her family in the intervening years. They got together during or after filming Once.

Edited to add that none of this is news. Anyone who was aware of them back then knew the back story.

They remained close friends after they broke up and recorded more music together and toured together in recent years (after he was married to Maire).

Ugh I have kids so can’t get past how utterly inappropriate it was for him, a man in his 30s, not to walk away. It defies belief that Ireland is practically canonising him right now.
