So proud of her . I think she is great actress and was brilliant in Hamnet . But ... She could use a stylist and a PR person . Some of her outfits have been so unflattering, too big for her and she wore a ice blue gown that looked like it needed ironing badly . And her acceptance speeches whilst I appreciate her spontaneous feelings, can be a bit garbled and make her sound a bit of a gobshite .

Am I just a begrudger picking fault or does anyone else think this ?

She's fantastic. No notes.

vincettenoir · 16/03/2026 12:48

I like her outfits and I especially love her hair. She’s never in a dud film. She chooses her work very well. I will defo see Bride even though it’s not the type of thing I would usually watch. If she’s chosen it then I’m sure it’s interesting.

Johnogroats · 16/03/2026 13:03

She’s brilliant. Loved her Desert Island Discs. And thought her Oscar look was great.

Clearinguptheclutter · 16/03/2026 13:05

I love her.
I wasn’t convinced about the red and the pink mind but I’m not convinced by 90% of Oscars dresses.

Nicecatneighbour · 16/03/2026 13:07

She's fabulous. I like her clothes, they are a little quirky and that's fine by me.

HotRootsAndNaughtyToots · 16/03/2026 13:17

Not to be that person, but this is a woman's forum a quarter of the way onto the 21c and your comments on an actress' success are about her appearance ...

ArcticSkua · 16/03/2026 13:18

I think she's fab. You do come across as picking faults OP.

Misshollys · 16/03/2026 13:21

I think she's great, I did like the Oscars dress but really loved the after party dress. 💖

PeonyPatch · 16/03/2026 13:21

Loved her Oscar dress!!!!

Correct.

i feel there is too much pressure for actors to always look super stylish/elegant/beautiful/slim! These are just people doing a job- it’s refreshing to see them as individuals and not perfect! They are acting characters from all
walks of life - and goodness knows the general public are so varied! I know everyone likes to see what these celebrities wear and look like as aspiring but does that mean they have to look like perfect mannequins too? What industry awards requires that level of perfection! So I for one love to see actors and industry professionals look just like they are a glam and dressed up version of themselves and having a great time, Jessie is an amazing actor and I hope she doesn’t change

thisnthat · 16/03/2026 14:07

I think she's bloody brilliant. Love that she has her own slightly quirky style and always looks amazing. Her Oscar dress was perfect. And her speeches are heartfelt and joyful.

CuteOrangeElephant · 16/03/2026 14:10

I love her Oscar dress!

It looks like Bianca's prom dress in 10 things I hate about you.

VictorianScreenTime · 16/03/2026 14:13

Love her, loved the speech and the dress. I think she’s sweet and sincere and funny. Class act.

Anonanonanonagain · 16/03/2026 14:30

So basically you dont like the fact she is real.

TheDameHelenShiteingMirren · 16/03/2026 14:35

So you're not actually that proud of her then. Gobshite indeed.

Absolutely

I remember her when she appeared on the Andrew Lloyd Webber search for Nancy on some TV show a few years back, she came second. ALW really wanted her to win, but Jodie Prenger won...amazingly that was 18 years ago.

Her style has definitely changed since then, she looks quirky and comes across as fresh and unaffected as she did all those years ago.

I love her.

Miranda65 · 16/03/2026 15:08

She's great, I just hope she doesn't desert the stage because of her film success - she was brilliant in "Cabaret" in London.

Therescathairinmybath · 16/03/2026 15:15

She’s a wonderful actress who looks like a normal person. I’m just hoping that she doesn’t change anything because she’s amazing.

Nofeckingway · 16/03/2026 15:28

@HotRootsAndNaughtyToots But choosing to be an actress does mean being judged on your looks . Anyway , it's not her appearance,I think she is beautiful with such expressive eyes and a great actress whom I have followed long before Hamnet . I was less enthused by her wardrobe choices which in the great scheme is just idle chatter and certainly not a misogynistic slant on the woman herself .

@TheDameHelenShiteingMirren Talking about everyone at home being drunk is not great and a bit gobshitey . Could be worse she could be a right lick .

This. ^ What a rude thread @Nofeckingway Sly digs at a successful and talented woman's appearance, AND the way she speaks. And her natural way of speaking made her sound 'like a gobshite?' What on earth are you going on about? She is authentic and raw and just a regular lass and she's done so well and really made it big. She has been awarded one of the ultimate accolades in showbiz. An Oscar.

You can blather on about how she should expect this kind of judgement and critisism because she is an 'actress,' but you would NEVER have said this about a man (an actor!) No, you would not!

And no, you do NOT sound 'proud' of her at all. You sound jealous of her.

Catch yourself on! Hmm

Nofeckingway · 16/03/2026 16:33

@LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway Jeez I am not jealous of her she is totally out of any league . And yes I would say it about an actor if I thought he could dress better. Not exactly a character assassination. And I repeat that talking about everyone being drunk at home isn't being diplomatic.

All I said was I didn't like some of her outfits ( loved the Chanel ) and thought she could be more thoughtful in her public speaking
You can disagree with me without getting nasty . I am sure Jessie Buckley gives two shites about my opinion of her 😀

I thought she looked amazing. I loved how big and flowing the dress was.

I went to school with her. When she was on that talent show in the UK the school were sending out messages to us all to send messages to our friends/ family in the UK so they could vote for her!

Absolutely delighted for her. She has done some truly great films and TV shows over the years. I will continue to follow her career and smile for her each time
