That's true, and I'm not denying all the awful stuff happening in the world - but don't forget that good news doesn't make it into the headlines.
Bad news sells.
And there's so much more news these days!
I remember when I was a kid there was the 1 o'clock news, the 6 o'clock news, and the 9 o'clock news.
All hell could be breaking out in the Middle East, an earthquake could have swallowed entire townsfull of unfortunate people, somebody might have run amok with a gun in the US, the Pope might have got married - if it happened between news bulletins, we didn't know about it, we just got on with our little domestic/local lives and the big wide world got on with its, until the next news.
Now it's 24h rolling news channels gathering stories from all over the world, many of which are undoubtedly tragic, but which we would never have heard about in the past.
I'm not saying that 'ignorance is bliss' or that we should not be concerned about the fate of our fellow-humans, we used to read the newspapers to keep up with world affairs, but we didn't have every tragic global event constantly 24/7 - and very graphically - under our noses, feeding into 'doomscrolling'.
Small stories telling good news rarely reach the news bulletins, [they sometimes make it onto 'Nationwide', though
] that doesn't mean that everything in the world is bad, there are lots of OK people in the world, doing good things, as well as all the awful stuff.
I know you could say that's very Pollyanna-ish😏 - but it's also true, isn't it, that if you look around, beyond the media, you can see good as well as bad
