It's absolutely awful. So many tragedies involving teenagers this summer. May they rest in peace.

LadyEloise1 · 26/08/2023 17:17

Utterly heartbreaking- 2 siblings.
How could you cope.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 26/08/2023 18:14

I can't think of it. It's absolutely harrowing. We were sitting down last night having seen off our dd who was going to meet friends to celebrate their LC results when the news broke at 9.30.

There have been so many young lives lost in the past few weeks and other tragic losses of life (thinking of the triathletes).

halfpasteleven · 26/08/2023 20:59

It's unbearable.

JaneJeffer · 28/08/2023 07:45

Good luck with the back to school everyone. I can't believe it's here and I'm still waiting for summer to arrive.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 29/08/2023 10:52

Yes, best of luck to all going back to school & college. I feel bad that they've not really had a 'summer'. I'm wondering if that's it now, going foward are we just going to have warm damp and windy days?! I haven't really felt cold at all and in fact have been melting quite a lot (might be my age) but I am so fed up with the rain and wind. The couple of weeks of sunshine we had in early June seems like a distant memory!

halfpasteleven · 29/08/2023 16:37

I've never felt as cold as I have this summer... I feel like it never really warmed up, except for a day or two here and there..
Surely we will have some blue skies and some heat between now and mid term break? 🤞🏻🤞🏻

honeyrider · 30/08/2023 09:43

More horrific news from Tipperary, three people killed in a single vehicle car crash near Cashel, grandparents in their 40's and their 3 year old grandchild, the parents are in a serious condition.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 30/08/2023 10:27

Yes, just awful news of fatalities again Sad The stats for road deaths this year must be very high already. It's heartbreaking.

halfpasteleven · 30/08/2023 21:54

There are no words - the poor people of Tipperary are in my thoughts and prayers tonight. Those poor parents.

JaneJeffer · 30/08/2023 22:09

It's so sad

SolviturAmbulando · 04/09/2023 16:35

Simon Byrne - PSNI Chief Constable - has resigned. It's a pity he didn't resign or be sacked over the handling of young Noah Donohoe's disappearance and death, but I'm glad Byrne has gone at least and at last. He's not the only one who should resign or be sacked over the handling of Noah's case, of course, but one down and all that.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 08/09/2023 10:14

How is everyone coping with the heat?! I'm not a good sleeper anyway but this past few nights have been particularly rough. I love hot weather - when I'm relaxing by a pool with a cold glass of something bubbly but not when I have get up for work and get kids out for school etc! And at least the Spanish have a siesta during the day, my office gets ridiculously hot in the afternoon I absolutely could do with a lie-down 😅 Oh well enough complaining. I really hope it lasts the weekend at least. Happy friday everyone Smile

JaneJeffer · 08/09/2023 10:44

It's very energy sapping weather. Maybe because we weren't expecting it!

I've just been reading this tragic story www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12492999/Teenager-18-jumped-bridge-death-three-months-drugged-raped-holiday-Greece-inquest-hears.html. Rest in peace Julie

DeanElderberry · 08/09/2023 11:27

Poor Julie and Julie's family.

It's too hot for me - I did the weekly supermarket run earlier, and it was already 21 in the shade at 9.30 - I hope I got everything into the fridge/freezer promptly enough. After the summer we've had I'm out of hot weather practice so forgot to bring cold packs with me or to buy a bag of ice as a combo food saver / drink cooler for later.

I've slept well so far by cheating - shower, paracetamol and piriton at bedtime (and remove the pjs I usually wear).

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 08/09/2023 12:05

I like the hot weather from a position of shade or inside.
Everyone here is taking a lot more showers!
Normal service of mist and drizzle will probably resume shortly.

We have had three young deaths in our community and neighbouring communities in the past few weeks. My thoughts are with their families and friends.

I hadn't heard about this poor girl. That's just devastating - for her and for her family.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 08/09/2023 14:41

It's horrific. A friend of mine is a close friend of the family so I'm very familiar with Julie's tragic death. Such a devastating loss 😔It's hard enough to investigate & solve these sorts of crimes when they happen here (and they do, my sister was drugged in a bar in Donegal nearly 20 years ago) but it must be a nightmare to deal with it remotely.

LadyEloise1 · 08/09/2023 18:14

Such a tragic story. My heart goes out to those who loved Julie. May she rest in peace.

I hope whoever committed the crime is caught and punished.

halfpasteleven · 08/09/2023 21:33

RIP Julie..

That's for sure Jane had to grab ds's coat from last year to put over my head and shoulders this morning to get out to the car for my own rainjacket. Stood at the door for a few minutes with the dog and cats food wondering could I make a run for it or not.

hides for cover I put the heating on for 20 mins yesterday evening and might put on a fire this eve!

I had hoped to take the dc on one last camping trip this weekend but I think a trip to my parents house will be in order instead.

DeanElderberry · 19/09/2023 17:32

My central heating boiler has been non-functional all summer - I do hope the repair bloke comes on Thursday (he's a nice bloke but elusive).

Luckily I have a wood burner or the cats would sue me.

JaneJeffer · 19/09/2023 17:39

I can't bear the whole fire/ashes malarkey so I try to avoid it for as long as possible.

LadyEloise1 · 19/09/2023 18:24

I too have a very elusive gas fire engineer @DeanElderberry
12 months elusive 🙄
