You are joking.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 29/07/2023 17:52

Yes, Taytocrisps. I saw ceramic orange pumpkins in Dunnes earlier today and thought I was hallucinating. Said it to a friend and she said she saw Halloween stuff in TK Max two weeks ago. What the actual...would we be thinking ahead to Halloween in the middle of our supposed summer?!

eggandonion · 29/07/2023 17:56

I think lidl put out their chocolate santas 100 days before Christmas. So mid September. So they must before doing similar for Halloween!
I hate school uniform displays in June.
I will not buy Halloween crap until mid October. And only then because it is switched for selection boxes on 30th.

I was passing by Dunnes earlier and they had Hallowe'en stuff on the shelves. I stopped in my tracks. It is only July, isn't it?

Ah ffs 😩

Bad and all as the summer has been, at least let us have one..

newfloorplease · 30/07/2023 15:28

Up Kerry 💚💛

eggandonion · 31/07/2023 11:33

Fascinated at the thread about the elderly Irish couple who went to watch an inlaws wedding and handed over a card with 50 quid. In my mi d they are the neighbours from the Royle family.
I live a good gawk at a wedding. And mil loves a good funeral afters in a hotel...if she visits the house she needs to take a cake but the afters is free food and nice people to talk to.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 31/07/2023 12:00

Yep, my friend sent me photos of all the Halloween stuff in Dunnes - only because she knows I hate Halloween! But even if I loved it, I'm not ready to give up on summer yet, surely we'll get some sunshine in August??! I saw an ad for glamping somewhere in Killarney I think it was, all talk about the kids rolling down the grassy hills in the sunshine and enjoying the fresh air etc. and I just looked out at the rain battering my window and thought nothing, not even calling it glamorours would make me want to camp in this country!!

@newfloorplease pity about the result yesterday, it was a close one.

@eggandonion I've not seen that thread. I was only thinking recently that it's been a long time since I've been to a wedding. I'm guessing it will be our friends' kid's weddings that we'll be going to next!

eggandonion · 31/07/2023 12:05

When our son was starting to organise his wedding dh was trying to work out which colleagues to invite. I had to point out that the bride and groom would invite colleagues but he didn't have to invite his.
A couple of them came along...handy for avoiding mass next day...and a couple politely looked at photos.

JaneJeffer · 31/07/2023 12:25

I saw that ad as well @LifeInAHamsterWheel and thought the same as you because it was absolutely pissing down Grin

newfloorplease · 31/07/2023 17:16

"Wedding Watchers" are the norm in Ireland but reading that other thread, it's not the same in the UK.
I thought the probably Irish in laws of the OP were very kind offering a gift to the B&G and going to the church to have a gawp look.
Most posters on the thread said there was nothing wrong with going to the church as church weddings are open to the public.
The bridezilla will be trouble I'd say.

eggandonion · 31/07/2023 19:08

I used to work on a street in England with several churches on it. Saturday in the summer was prime wedding watching. (And the Red Arrows flew over once which was exciting).

newfloorplease · 31/07/2023 19:25

I was in a friend's house yesterday and the Bray Air Show was on. What looked like the Red Arrows flew past but they could have been the Royal Jordanian airforce.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 01/08/2023 08:21

Oh terrible news from Monaghan last night Sad I just can't imagine the loss, and on such a special occasion. We just never know what's around the corner do we. Heartbreaking for all involved and everyone who knows them 💔

eggandonion · 01/08/2023 08:35

Really sad news yet again.

JaneJeffer · 01/08/2023 10:37

Absolutely awful Sad

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 01/08/2023 10:45

Yes, absolutely awful. Just dreadful.

newfloorplease · 01/08/2023 11:27

Heartbreaking - this years Leaving Cert had been so impacted by Covid and its lockdowns.
Life was becoming more "normal" again for them.
Deepest sympathy to all who are touched by this tragedy. Sad

JaneJeffer · 01/08/2023 18:40

Such beautiful girls. I'm in tears watching the BBC NI news.

eggandonion · 15/08/2023 11:29

How is everyone...summer is slipping away faster than I would like.

LadyEloise1 · 15/08/2023 11:44

What summer Sad

This is Covid thread 10.
I thought it was over but am hearing of there being more and more cases of Covid.
Aghhhhh
Hopefully there won't have to be an 11th Covid thread.

JaneJeffer · 15/08/2023 12:18

It strange that they were on about all the people in hospital with Covid and the next thing I got this notification on my phone which made such a weird loud noise I thought my flipping phone had been hacked or something. I didn't even have the service switched on in the first place!

Anyway apparently the cases in hospitals are mostly people who went in for other reasons and then got Covid Hmm

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 15/08/2023 14:40

A work colleague got that same message @JaneJeffer and got very worked up about it (but she has been a worrier about covid from day 1) It honestly took me a moment to realise what she was talking about! Covid is just not on my radar at all now, and if people are still getting it then surely they're getting what we always used to just refer to as 'a dose'? You know, sniffles or coughs, aches & pains, temperature etc.? It wouldn't cross my mind to think I have covid. Can you even get a test anymore? No, enough now, I'm not going back to any of that!

As for Summer... well this time last year the weather (which had been shite all summer by the way!) turned and it was fab for the last 2 weeks of August and into September. So I'm still holding on to the faintest glimmer of hope that the same thing will happen this year!!

Wendysfriend · 16/08/2023 11:10

Anybody get the 'Free money' yesterday 😂😂

JaneJeffer · 16/08/2023 12:10

No free money here unfortunately, everyone is 18+ and lives on fresh air apparently!
