Bring back You're a Star

eggandonion · 10/05/2023 14:20

Yer mans gold jumpsuit was very swish.
Jedward could do camp and Johnny and his saxophone are cool.

JaneJeffer · 10/05/2023 14:45

Did anyone else's internet go down for a while? I thought the Russians were coming. And this was no help!

So since 2013 Ireland has got through once in 2018. Waste of time.

eggandonion · 10/05/2023 18:12

Yes. Waste of time. And I feel very sorry for the musicians.

JaneJeffer · 10/05/2023 18:22

Majella O'Donnell thinks so too

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 10/05/2023 19:21

The lads gave it their all, no doubt about it. And the lead singer sang well and in tune (when sometimes singers can be a bit pitchy or off key) so credit where credit is due. I still don't like the song, however. It was trite and dull. And whiney.

I agree with Honeyrider that we need to change the selection process and take it away from the late late show. In Italy they have a competition with a decent prize and the winner goes to Eurovision. It's not just about Eurovision. Bring back the old song contest and not just the five or six songs put forward for selection by goodness knows who, Frank MacNamara or other old cronies.

Ive moved on. Now i am fretting about Dr Matt not turning off his phone at the coronation. Leo must be mortified.

honeyrider · 15/05/2023 21:18

Leo saying Matt's a private person doesn't excuse what he did, the only reason Matt was there was because Leo was representing the country and by extension so was Matt.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 16/05/2023 09:49

What a numpty. He should know how to behave at this stage. Embarrassing!

eggandonion · 16/05/2023 10:18

I noticed on twitter that someone says he is friends with Rebekah Vardey!
Nothing is really private on the Internet. Surely Leo should have mentioned that to matt.

JaneJeffer · 22/05/2023 22:37

Just what you'd expect from the Ballymaloe gang

Isnt she married to an English aristocratic type.

JaneJeffer · 22/05/2023 22:59

Yes, The Honourable Harry Herbert. He was born in the Downton Abbey house Highclere Castle!

eggandonion · 22/05/2023 23:45

Dowton seems to be coming back. I love a nice long frock series.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 26/05/2023 14:03

Lovely Leaving Cert weather we're having ☀😄
We have an LC student. She shuffles out of her den to take ice-cream breaks on the grass now and again.

I would watch Downton again, but wonder if they will have a very different cast.

LadyEloise1 · 26/05/2023 14:22

Clodagh seems to be the only one backing him. But I'm not fully up to date and never watched the programme.

I used to like her years ago but in recent years she's turned into a right dose, she often comes across as if she's overindulged in the hospitality in the green room especially when she appeared on the Late Late Show.

LadyEloise1 · 26/05/2023 17:20

I didn't see her on the Late Late.
She's married into British aristocracy now. Living on the"Downton" estate.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 29/05/2023 10:59

Ugh the whole idea of Philip Schofield makes my skin crawl. From what I've heard/read there's no way that anyone involved with that show didn't know exactly what was going on so to come out in support of him is not a clever move IMO.

Did anyone watch Ryan's last Late Late show? I like him, prefer him on the radio to telly but I think he did a good job on LL as much as he could as I think the show is pretty dire! Too much focus on bad and depressing news etc. the format needs a shake up I think. I wonder what it will be like with Patrick Kielty at the helm. I've always liked him so I'll give him a chance!

I'm loving this warm spell but in true Irish fashion I'm worried that'll be it for the whole summer! Please God give us a nice long decent summer this year 🙏😅

eggandonion · 29/05/2023 12:56

I want some rain overnight so i don't have to water the garden. More specifically rain that doesn't fall on grass so i don't have to decide if i am lazy or rewilding.
Philip schofield is yet another horrible famous person to add to the list. Is Ryan going to run for president?

honeyrider · 29/05/2023 13:36

I think Ryan plans on writing books.

LadyEloise1 · 01/06/2023 10:39

honeyrider · 29/05/2023 13:36

I think Ryan plans on writing books.

I thought he might become the "new Terry Wogan" in the UK.
He has done some radio work over there already, filling in, in summer as other presenters took their break.

On another note, where is the wonderful weather promised- here in Dublin it's not great.
It's not raining though, always a bonus. But cool enough out with an n easterly breeze.
Yesterday too it took a while to brighten up.

JaneJeffer · 01/06/2023 10:43

It's beautiful weather here in the wesht

honeyrider · 01/06/2023 11:39

It's beautiful sunny weather in the Sunny South East.
