It's a long time since I was in it but I remember Dunne and Crescenzi on South Frederick Street being really nice.

While since I was there but there is an Italian at the Radisson in Stillorgan which was nice. If it's nice you could have some drinks in the garden first.

Boscoforever · 01/04/2022 17:25

That's Amore in Monkstown. It is exactly what you are looking for, there is no fuss. It is run by Italians. Mum and I were there recently, we sneaked in at the end of lunch. The staff all came and sat down for their own lunch, to eat together at the end of their shift.
You won't be disappointed. I've never had a bad experience there.
Plus, Monkstown is lovely to wander about, with all the nice shops, Avoca, Seagreen, etc. Go for a walk by the sea and watch the swimmers at the martello tower?

Boscoforever · 01/04/2022 17:26

Plus you can get the DART?

Joolsin · 01/04/2022 17:45

That's Amore is fab, but also very small and can be hard to get bookings. If you're in town, Pinocchio in Smock Alley is good, they run Italian Cookery lessons so know their stuff.

Hi 👋

We are staying out at the hilton at kilmainham but we have a hire car so hopefully travelling into Dublin won't be a issue? (but I haven't been to Dublin in 20 years!!)

We might even use taxis if its not too spendy?

Can you book at that's amore?

I really like Carluccio's on Dawson St in the city centre. Very relaxed and lovely food.

ChiswickFlo · 01/04/2022 18:39

Oh mum likes carluccios!

+1 for Pinocchio and Osterio Lucio.

Dunne and crescenzi

We used to live in Dublin and this was our go to restaurant for treats. It's sensational.

You are just a short distance from Heuston Station so will be able to get the Luas or a bus into town easily from there.

I mentioned it upthread - haven't been there in years. Will definitely be going back soon.

I was in Dunne and Crescenzi in town recently and it was lovely. I just love That's Amore because it is like being in Italy. Just ring and ask re: booking.

Wildehorses · 01/04/2022 21:43

The best Italian restaurant in Dublin is Rosa Madre ... and conveniently located in Temple Bar, central Dublin. Your hotel is nowhere near the DART (the train that goes to Amore and Olivetto) and a taxi out and back to those restaurants would cost a fortune. But book now for Rosa Madre as it is quite small. Food is amazing.

Bonheurdupasse · 01/04/2022 21:46

Yes to Rosa Madre.

Also La Caverna.

If you really wanted something authentic, completely non show off y - Terra Madre.

Il Forno 500 is also nice with kids.

Bonheurdupasse · 01/04/2022 21:47

I wouldn't pick Carluccio's over the others.

DublinBlowin · 01/04/2022 21:56

Terra Madre is the best - tiny little restaurant, small menu, fabulous food.

Rosa Madre and GiGi in Ranalagh both also good. I wouldn’t go all the way to monkstown for dinner personally.

ChiswickFlo · 01/04/2022 21:57

Lots to look at thank you all

How easy would it be to park at these restaurants do you know?

Terre Madre is my favourite too. It's authentic, not fancy, but amazing food.
