Poor Sinead

I don't want to say much more in case I'm accused of being a grief voyeur but just my heart goes out to her. Her mental health was never good so now she has this to overcome too. Her poor son though, feeling that this was the answer. All so sad.

Heartbroken, utterly heartbroken. Beautiful boy. Beautiful Sinead. She carries a relentless wound.

So sorry and angry for Sinead and Shane. He should have been safe.

So shocked he was able to leave the ward and hope there will be some kind of inquiry about that. I know if someone is truly determined they will find a way but he should have been safe while he was an inpatient.

I would imagine this is far from the first time but that the hse will be covered for these things. We don't know the circumstances obviously but with buzzing in and out for doors, it's hard to justify it. The poor soul, he had run away so many times and only 17.

Sadly, I would imagine he was able to leave the hospital because they're on their knees with staff shortages at the moment due to covid.

I know, I don't blame Sinead for being angry with Tusla. Her son was on suicide watch but nobody was watching. It is so awful. To live with that feeling of it having been preventable

Apparently he was in voluntarily so perhaps they cannot then detain.. Who knows. It will all come out I'm sure. Suchba dreadful loss.

Yes, it's hard to know how much power they had to keep him in. I bet they were understaffed too

It's heartbreaking. I'm also disgusted this still happening. One of my friends died years ago after just being able to walk out of a 'secure' unit on suicide watch. No one even noticed until his family called for an update.

It is awful, such a beautiful young boy unable to cope with world. My thoughts are with him and his family.

Sinead is in a very bad way. She put up a series of tweets a few hours ago saying that she's decided to die to so she can go to look for Shane. Then she deleted her Twitter account. Then somebody on Twitter sent the police to her home. Then she reactivated her Twitter to say the police have taken her hospital but that she still intends to go and be with Shane.
