Help me with my stupid question about "proper"Guinness glasses

DS has got into drinking Guinness.
He has asked for a "proper" Guinness glass for Christmas
Now I am of proper Irish stock through and through..but living in UK .
What does he mean ?
I have seen some that have indentations at the bottom ,instead of a smooth all the way down glass ?

My dad never cared what he had his Guinness in !
(Got a few of them still in the cupboard ..thanks dad (RIP, god rest his soul))
DAD would be so proud his grandson wants to drink his can (!!) properly.
Any advise what I should be looking for ?
Thanks .

Have a look at the official Guinness webstore, it might give you some ideas.

Don't quote me, but I think a Guinness glass is a pint glass that's narrower at the bottom than the top. It's what it's usually served in round here anyway.

Bamaluz · 15/10/2021 21:48

That's just to make sure you're over 18

AosSi · 15/10/2021 22:00

Sure stick in any DOB? There's nothing that says it has to be your real one.

Unreasonabubble · 15/10/2021 22:04

If you go onto Amazon and type "Guinness Glass" there are quite a few on there to choose from.

bizzey · 15/10/2021 22:06

Oh my DOB is fine !
Yes I always thought the glass went narrow at the bottom ...but these indentations ,swirly things ?
I have never seen them before ?

OP posts:
bizzey · 15/10/2021 22:07

I suppose what I am asking ..is their an authentic one ?

OP posts:
bizzey · 15/10/2021 22:09

I am going with smooth /narrow at the bottom .
That's the only one I have known .

The swirl things are reasonably common I'd have thought. I often get glasses like this: www.instagram.com/p/CU21jAhs0lq/?utm_medium=copy_link

The pint in it is shit now but I'd have no complaints on the glass!

AosSi · 15/10/2021 22:13

Personally I'd rate a small logo with swirl over a big logo with no swirl. Those Guinness Ireland glasses on the site are horrendous. But I'd prob go with small logo/no swirl out of all the options.

DramaAlpaca · 15/10/2021 22:35

I'd go with no swirl. That's gimmicky. I think small logo no swirl too.

bizzey · 15/10/2021 22:51

Small logo , no swirl
Thank you ..it is making sense now .

I guess he's looking for a glass for a can of Guinness. What size cans do they sell around you? Where I am, it's 500ml and that looks a bit shit in a pint glass coz it doesn't fill up the top.

But, you can buy 500ml Guinness glasses, though, so you get the perfect pint look.
