My work colleague just got hers and showed it to me. We were both surprised that it has to be printed out, with instructions on where to fold it!! Because it's folded you can't really laminate it so it's going to get wrecked I can only imagine the state some of them will be in after a week!! I thought it was a digital cert so you'd keep it on your phone? Mine hasn't arrived yet.

I'm not really sure about the practicalities of this to be honest. I can see there being lots of problems. And I'm pissed off at the 1.45 timing rule, it takes me longer than that to get ready to go out!! I suppose just wait and see.

FionaMacCool · 13/07/2021 15:45

How do you get a digital cert? I had my vaccinations early on (January) and was given a card (and warned to mind it with my life!).

JaneJeffer · 13/07/2021 16:11

They emailed it to me Fiona

SecondRow · 13/07/2021 16:57

Germany and France have apps you can upload your digital cert to. Then there's another app for venues or whatever to read them. They are recognised across countries, ie it's enough to show the German app in France. But I'm surprised there isn't an EU wide one? I'll check up on that. A digital pass that you carry around folded up in your purse is a bit odd!

HoppSuisse · 13/07/2021 17:19

They plan to update the Covid Tracker app to be able to store your vaccination cert on it. The digital wallet facility in the app is due to be in place between 19-24 July, broadly in line with the return of international travel and the reopening of indoor hospitality – for people who can produce verifiable evidence of vaccination or immunity from Covid-19.
No idea why they didn't make sure this was in place BEFORE 19th July.

Can anyone tell me please, I have googled but I'm still not sure if travelling from the UK do people have to quarantine here? I've family travelling on Friday for 4 days they are insisting as they are vaccinated they don't need to quarantine and even if they had to they won't. There's 4 adults all double vaccinated and 6 children not vaccinated.

HoppSuisse · 13/07/2021 19:59

@Lipz - For travel to Ireland: From 16 June, all passengers travelling from Great Britain must quarantine at home for 14 days. The period of home quarantine can be shortened following a negative PCR test after 5 days for fully vaccinated passengers, and after 10 days (following a negative PCR test) for unvaccinated or partially vaccinated passengers.
They will also need PCR tests for everyone over 7.

Thank you for that. I know they're doing what ever tests are required but they've no intentions of doing any sort of quarantine. They've lots planned including a visit to me, which I'm not happy about. They've travelled all through lock down, pretending they've funerals and sick family. They've never been questioned or caught, anyway once I know now for certain that they're breaking guidelines I can stick to my guns and tell them not to come near my house. Thanks again

I’ve uploaded my digital cert to my wallet on my phone. Matt Cooper had someone on his radio show explaining how to do it.

Is anyone else waiting to be called for their 2nd moderna vaccine? DH, sister, BIL and a few friends all got theirs 4 weeks to the day (last week). However I haven't been called for mine so its now over the 4 weeks. Odd.

ineedanewbum · 14/07/2021 18:05

Nevermind. Hse obviously reads the thread just got the text appointment😂

LadyEloise · 14/07/2021 20:04

I had my first vaccine yesterday. For some reason I was expecting a massive needle and was surprised how small it was.

I was the same with my first jab.

I sat there and waited and waited and then was told "Off you go." Didn't feel a thing.

Do you think we should complain?

JaneJeffer · 16/07/2021 18:40

The HSE trying to blame the children's dental crisis on the pandemic would be laughable if it wasn't so terrible. They were running years behind before Covid.

Iblinkedandiamold · 16/07/2021 19:12

I'm getting my second jab on Monday. Bit worried because I heard the second pfizer jab is the one with the side effects. Still a few hours of feeling rough is better than long covid

I had pifzer and tbh the 2nd was much better than the 1st. With the 1st I had this crazy tiredness where I couldn't keep my eyes open. On the 2nd dose I felt a little tired but nothing major. My arm was more sore but that's because I was at an angle getting my injection, I was between a tall filing cabinet and a wardrobe type cabinet, the nurse could barely get into me, so I had to perch on the edge of chair sideways and when I offered to move to part of the big open space in the room she got annoyed and stabbed me 😂😂😂 so I think the arm pain was from that. I know everyone is different when it comes to these vaccines but if there's any side effects to be had with anything you can be sure I'll get them.
Iblinkedandiamold · 16/07/2021 21:04

Thanks @Lipz. Hopefully I'll be okay then. Although I'm not at work so my body could decide to really make me feel it. Grin

Iblinkedandiamold · 16/07/2021 21:05

I've been a little tour of Kerry the last few days. My favourite part was the tour of Skelligs Gin and Skelligs chocolate. Grin

@lipz I think we need a diagram! 😂

I felt a bit fluey twenty-four hours after the second jab (Pfizer) and had the sore arm, of course. I took paracetamol and felt fine though, so don't worry too much!
Carriemac · 17/07/2021 09:14

I had Pfizer - second dose worse that the first but I know I've not had Covid ( I'm in a study with weekly blood tests)
If you've had the virus, the first dose gives a worse reaction ( anecdotal but I work I healthcare where we've all been double jabbed since early this year

Im not feeling well at all today. Not sure if its vaccine related or not - had the first pfizer or wednesday. Its a couple of days delay but my body always tends to hold out when Im busy, then as soon as I have a day off work or a break, it catches up with me and I end up sick.

A colleague had the second moderna vaccine this week and was terribly sick after it.

We just have to remember it will all be worth it in the end. The dramatic rise in cases at the minute is really worrying.

ManorMouse · 17/07/2021 14:08

1st Pfizer and, other than a sore arm for a couple of days, I had no ill effects.

2nd Pfizer and no sore arm but I was hit by a wave of tiredness about 5-6 hours afterwards which sent me straight to bed around 8 pm. That was the worst of it but the tiredness lingered for the next day or so. Talking to my neighbours, my experience matched theirs.

A colleague had no ill effects after her first Pfizer but the second gave her a feverishness that lasted a couple of days.

Then again my brother and his wife both had Pfizer and no ill effects at all.
