one degree of separation yes!!
I know. You worry about your children when they are young, but it must be worse when they strike out and become independent. My nerves are going to be frazzled in the years to come.

slurry it absolutely stinks around here!

Thesagacontinues · 26/04/2021 17:10

The tractors have been mad busy here in the last week.

DS returns to hurling training tonight and guess what? I cant find his club jersey anywhere. Why do things just disappear when you need them Sad

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 26/04/2021 19:29

Oh stop @Thesagacontinues I feel your pain! DS starts back to football training this week and announced last night that he can't get his feet into his boots! And no sports shops open so we've to order online. Feck sake!!

I did that two weeks ago @LifeInAHamsterWheel new boots, hurley, socks, shorts. He can squeeze into his helmet for another year with the price of them Shock. They grow out of everything so fast!

ShurImGrand123 · 26/04/2021 19:48

Yay! My DH got his first Pfizer jab last week and I’m delighted (but also worried it won’t work.)

I’d rung the local surgery to ask if he should book online as he’s 68 but as he has a blood cancer, he’s classed as high risk. She rang me back with an appointment for a few days later. I’m younger with no health issues so I don’t expect to get jabbed for ages yet.

I’m down in West Cork and there’s loads of camper vans (inc. U.K. plates) parking overnight near the beach as the camping sites aren’t open. I wouldn’t mind so much but the feckers always leave piles of rubbish behind. I’m meeting my friend tomorrow for a beach doggy play date so we’ll see if there’s any rubbish to be removed.

There

halfpasteleven · 27/04/2021 07:06

There is a really funny thread in AIBU which I can't link to because I'm on my phone about family getting in the way when you're busy
Worth a read

Thesagacontinues · 27/04/2021 09:27

@ShurImGrand123 I'm glad your DH got his vaccine, thats great news.

The GAA pitch was packed with people last night. There were 4 age groups training at the same time across two pitches and lots of parents of the younger ages gathered at the side of the pitch.

theDudesmummy · 27/04/2021 10:16

I am hoping that the good news about the vaccines today really does translate into us getting vaccinated soon! (age 57 and 50 here, so of particulat interest).

Lots of D and even UK number plates here in west Galway...people are definitely not sticking to the stay in county rule...

Yes! that actually had me laughing out loud. Especially the ones about DS bringing random videos about Roblox or Star Wars for me to watch...but. only when I have finally got to have 4 minutes to myself for a cup of tea, or when I'm in a mad rush trying to get dinner+laundry+feed dog+work phone call.
LifeInAHamsterWheel · 27/04/2021 10:35

@halfpasteleven that thread is gas Grin

@Thesagacontinues I'm not so worried about groups at training - didn't NPHET recently say that transmission rates outdoors are ridiculously low? So hopefully if they're just gathering but not physically touching it will be ok. Mind you, there was lots of physical contact at the beach in Galway at the weekend...

Hopefully @LifeInAHamsterWheel. I've lived such a sheltered life for the past year that it was a shock to actually see people at all Grin

BiddyPop · 27/04/2021 11:27

My next door neighbour comes from quite close to DH and my "home" down the country, and they went "home" for a few days over Easter with no problems. (Suburbs of Official Capital to large town near the Real Capital journey).

All the beauty spots near us have been mobbed the past 2 weeks, lots of them first time visitors. Which is worrying as we intended to go back to the local park with Cubs this weekend - but you could barely walk around it last weekend (it's always been busy enough just with locals, even pre-pandemic). We can't use the Den as the yard is quite small and still full of boats.

But you could see that GAA club here was back in action yesterday already - lots of kids and some accompanying parents walking and cycling around last night to and from the various pitches. As long as the groups on the pitch are separated, and parents don't hang around on sidelines, that would be ok. We're not in the GAA club anymore, but the hockey club is very strict on "drop and go" with parents.

eggandonion · 27/04/2021 13:00

Eoghan Murphy has resigned, I was on a thread once where his extreme good looks were discussed. I have no idea what the thread was about, I don't think he was the real topic.
Its brightening up after a cloudy start here. Secondary school pe seems to be having a walk in the park, poor kids. Corks least interesting park.

JaneJeffer · 27/04/2021 13:08

Ha ha yes I totally derailed that thread Grin

eggandonion · 27/04/2021 13:16

What was it about? And what's international relations?

JaneJeffer · 27/04/2021 13:35

He will probably do something in the UN. He worked there previously. Or maybe get a cushy Brussels number? I can't remember what the thread was originally about before I joined it!

eggandonion · 27/04/2021 15:13

I can't find the thread. I'm sure Eoghan would be thrilled to know hes a pin up.

I love a good rambling thread.

Our pitch was the same this evening- GAA back training for underage and the amount of parents who stayed on the sidelines in groups chatting was huge I thought. Just to clarify I didn't stay but I was early at collection time as I run to a toddler timetable these days so am usually early as I can't risk being late! We waited in the car until training was over. It was very strictly drop and go for soccer yesterday and I have to say it seemed a lot safer and better run, and I say that as someone who's DP was involved in the training this eve!
JaneJeffer · 27/04/2021 21:37

DS2 had training this evening but the parents didn't hang around. Probably rushing home to have the house to themselves.

@JaneJeffer that was some derailment! Very enjoyable I still think Eoghan Murphy is only good looking because the other politicians aren't
JaneJeffer · 27/04/2021 22:11

Compared to U.K. politicians he's an Adonis Grin (prefer his brother though)

CliffsofMohair · 27/04/2021 22:20

Who’s his brother?
That by-election is gonna be ferocious
