@JaneJeffer

Wow Deric Ó h'Artagáin has some lockdown beard on him Grin
I'd never heard of Deric Hartigan. I just looked him up. Interesting. He used to be a teacher, then went to produce a documentary in India, and is now a weatherman.

I often see herrings on the rooftops around her from the canal close by.
Yes the news of a 4th wave is scary.
I was envious seeing some of the social photos online in the UK yesterday not that I'd be brave enough to do it.
Finger's crossed the vaccine roll-out is quick and hopefully it bloody works.
Feeling in limbo now.

JaneJeffer · 13/04/2021 14:49

Herrings @EmeraldShamrock Grin We have herons passing by here sometimes between parts of the river.

Sarahtrue11 · 13/04/2021 14:51

Did anyone else leave Ireland last year to work remotely in Europe?

I left Ireland in Level 3 last year, it was around -August/September, when we were allowed to leave the country, and several of my friends left as the same time aswell. I have been in four European countries since then, working remotely. Anyone else on here doing it?

JaneJeffer · 13/04/2021 14:53

I barely left the house!

Paul and Gary O'Donovan have both gone for the Mountainy Man lockdown look, too.

Though personally I'd feel great sisterhood towards RTE if Eileen Dunne or Sharon Ní Bheoláin said 'Fuck it, anyway' and presented the news with four-inch lockdown roots and split ends visible from outer space.

Is it better now with the 5km restrictions being relaxed. I was happy to hear about that
IsFuzzyBeagMise · 13/04/2021 15:04

@eggandonion

There was a lady on mumsnet years ago in Wicklow who had a woodpecker nearby, I think I read recently that they are spreading? I occasionally see a kingfisher, after our local river floods. Currently we have two very stupid swans nesting in a duck pond which is tidal. The men's shed have now constructed a raft so the nest can float, and the council has provided a fence. It is possibly the worst place they could have chosen in terms of teenagers, dogs, thick people, and geography. I'm trying to pretend the vaccine rollout is perfect. My friend has a heart condition, dodgy hips, has to go to the dental hospital because she is on so many medications...but her cardiologist has been told that she will get astra zenica because she is 65.
Yes, the swans! That nest is going to survive on a wing and a prayer!

Same.

I went into town (Cork City) early last December.
That's it.

JaneJeffer · 13/04/2021 15:07

I saw some migrating Whooper swans passing over early one morning last week. A beautiful sight.

Sarahtrue11 · 13/04/2021 15:07

Is it a lot different in Ireland now, with the 5km limit being lifted?

JaneJeffer · 13/04/2021 15:09

No @Sarahtrue11 there's nowhere to go anyway as nothing else has opened up.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 13/04/2021 15:12

It is only the second day in, so it doesn't feel any different yet.
For us, it's back to school routines too, so maybe at the weekend, we could go somewhere different to stretch our legs.

Sarahtrue11 · 13/04/2021 15:14

Awww, longer walks at least.

I am in a country in Europe where restaurants and coffee shops are open, but it still has that feeling of bleakness and "there is nothing to do", because everyone in every country, has the same feeling of just waiting and wanting Coronavirus to be over. Only a few more months to go now hopefully. Does anyone have any good recommendations to watch on Netflix? I need something to watch! Thanks

Well, not sure that's true. You can go to more supermarkets!!!

Also add in a few hardware stores if you think you could take the excitement.

Wink

I'm really missing DS2 being at home. He's very chatty.

Where is he Jane?
Sarahtrue11 · 13/04/2021 15:22

@BloodyInternetFood haha I remember being excited at hardware stores and garden stores opening up after the first level 5 last year in Ireland. the thrill! To queue outside a garden store, with my takeaway coffee, in the cold.

JaneJeffer · 13/04/2021 15:25

Just at school @Sarahtrue11 Grin

No, I loved the idea of flying herrings lying around surreally on roofs. Grin

Herons are my favourite birds. DS gets very impatient when I stop to admire them on the school run, as he's showing me some Tik Tok dance routine.

We thought about going to Kinsale yesterday, but it rained so we didn't. I always need a wee when we go places.

Kerry is actually the only county in Ireland that I have never been to. It is far from me, I must go one day.

I was thinking what is my favourite county in Ireland , outside of my own.

I think I would choose Co.Clare. Where would ye choose?

Sarahtrue11 · 13/04/2021 15:53

I wrote Kerry, and then remembered Kinsale is in Cork. I Haven't been to Kinsale either. I have only been to Cork city. After lockdown, I want to travel around Ireland
