Unlinked because I can't remember how to do it, and can't find Help thing.

ANne Lovett's baby would have been 37? Oh my goodness.

Iblinkedandiamold · 31/01/2021 16:55

I have so many things in common with B.Jones now. Except I dont have two gorgeous men fighting over me. I'm more of a Bridget Jones before Hugh Grant and Colin Firth.

CherryValanc · 31/01/2021 17:26

@LadyEloise

I could never understand why Brigid of Brigid Jones Diary was named thus. It's such an Irish name and in my youth there were very few Bridgets - usually the parents of a Brigid were very traditional Catholics.
I imagined she was called after Bridget Bardot. No clue where I got that idea from!!

Do the dates even work for that to possible?

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 31/01/2021 18:30

I remember reading that book when it first came out. Must have been 1995 maybe? I was reading on the dart on my way to work and had to put it away as I just couldn't stop laughing and was attracting very odd looks!! The film was good but never made me laugh the way the book did.
God I wonder what the numbers will be like in the coming days now they're starting to test close contacts again. At least January is over Smile

Well feck me, I honestly thought she was Bridget. Admittedly she has not featured that much in my life (evidently).

Maybe Bridget's mum made the same mistake 😄

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 03/02/2021 10:21

Well how is everyone doing this week? Does anybody have any news?! My phone calls with pals have trickled off lately as none of us have anything at all to say. We've not gone anywhere or done anything. It's so boring. Make something up if you have to!! Just give me something Grin

Iblinkedandiamold · 03/02/2021 10:26

I'm redoing my bathroom for the third time since march. Not an expensive job, just using some stick on wall paper stuff and the walls and the floor. It's waterproof apparently. Just ordered some more because instead of doing a feature wall I decided to do the whole bathroom, i also got some high gloss for my kitchen worktops.
My house is a mess and I am exhausted but I am excited to get finished.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 03/02/2021 11:40

ooh that's exciting @Iblinkedandiamold I'd love something like that my downstairs loo. What is it called? Where did you get it? I'm not sure I'd be good at putting it on though, I'm absolutely rubbish at wrapping presents I don't think I could wrap a wall! I am, since the second lockdown, proficient at painting. I keep thinking I might paint the living room but I have lost all motivation this time round. I certainly have the time to do it. I need a big kick up the backside...

eggandonion · 03/02/2021 11:47

I'm scared of painting the living room, where visitors might see my blobs and runs. We had an amazing Polish painter last autumn, when amazing Polish painters were allowed in. I'm currently working up to untangling the wires at our telly, there are phones, modems, boxes etc knitted together.
I feel like going over to the baby name threads and causing havoc. Just for some excitement.

I got stuff from an Irish facebook company called budget interiors. I am rubbish at doing it too but I got a brick effect one so it doesn't really matter if you make mistakes. It's looking hood so far.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 03/02/2021 12:57

We did a lot of painting last summer. It was hard work. It's great when the teenager is taller than you and can reach the awkward places.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 03/02/2021 14:00

I did he bedrooms last time and really enjoyed it. Took my time with the cutting in and had RTE Gold playing in my earphones all the while. I did a good job! Then I did the kitchen and it was a nightmare. So many nooks and crannies and it was proper kitchen paint which is really gloopy and not nice to work with. And I had to do 3 coats. Nearly killed me. If I'd started on that I'd never have done the bedrooms!!

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 03/02/2021 14:13

I know what you mean! We started upstairs with the bedrooms for that reason too Grin

eggandonion · 03/02/2021 15:03

I got purple masking tape which was easy to work with, if anyone uses masking tape. There was a house sold recently near us, which was previously sold about five years ago. The owners had a huge mount done on it. Now the new owners seem to be redoing it. I can see the point of painting it while it's empty, but I wonder what the builders are doing. There should be a service for people like me who wander round slowly with a dog, observe work on houses, and would pay a fiver for a look inside.

We're not long in our place, and it needs a tonne of DIY. I get motivated in fits and starts. I sent off for flooring samples today, which will probably sit in spare room with the paper samples from last lockdown.

My true pleasure at the moment is walking around the estate just before people shut their curtains, and trying to get a glimpse at how others, with the same layout as us, have done their living room.

eggandonion · 03/02/2021 15:41

Its better not to rush, see what light is like in summer and think a bit. The people next door to us did a lot of stuff before moving in (it was an executor's sale , old fashioned but really good quality curtains etc.) What they really need is a boiler, which is boring!

I just hope the North doesn't start kicking off again. Sad

Iblinkedandiamold · 03/02/2021 18:58

One minute you're young and cool, getting dressed up in addais 3 strip and so perfume. Thd next you're getting excited about self adhesive rolls of paper fir doing up the bathroom.

Carriemac · 03/02/2021 19:26

Went to Lidl and a drive in costa on Sunday - and told everyone about it on the weekly family zoom call because we have NO NEWS otherwise

I have to say that does sound like àn exciting day.
Iblinkedandiamold · 03/02/2021 20:26

Wow @Carriemac that sounds exciting. Doing the shop is the highlight of my week..once I get over the initial panic of going out. It's actually not as bad now I am in work.

halfpasteleven · 03/02/2021 22:13

I am trying to remember the last time I was anywhere that wasn't a grocery shop or out for a walk and I genuinely can't.

I'd like to change our sitting room wall colour but I'm very nervous of painting..

anomletteandaglassofwine · 03/02/2021 23:07

I have news!!

SIL worked on something that was nominated for a Golden Globe today and DS heard this morning that his second EP is being released in a few weeks (very niche music that you'd probably want to turn down, but still 😂)

As for me...I went to Tesco for a big shop, and they didn't have everything, so I went to SuperValu as well...I know!! That's my galavanting done for another week.

My big project for February is to organise under the stairs. I've been saving that treat for a while as you can imagine!

FionaMacCool · 03/02/2021 23:21

anomlette congrats!! to your SIL and DS.
What huge excitement (is your SIL Daisy?Wink )

As for that load of galavanting...well, there are no words (literally, I am out of the practice of conversation).
