@EmeraldShamrock yes I know, I live in ni, I mean that they are staying open for one more week then all non essential shops close for a week. So people will be packed into the shops this weekend and next week in anticipation of the closures and then again when they reopen. Same for close contact services, they will be working overtime for the next week to fit people in, knowing that they will close and no idea when they'll reopen again.

EmeraldShamrock · 20/11/2020 10:34

It doesn't make sense even for administration of furlough payments.
It is very worrying from news in NI stay safe.

Lipz · 20/11/2020 11:45

I don't understand what NI is doing either? I thought all non essential was closed too but obviously not from reading on here, on the news last night 2 cafe/restaurant and hairdressers people said they had been closed but were allowed to open for a week and then close Hmm

I am kinda glad that our idiots just locked us all down, one rule for everyone, we know what's open and not open, we know we'll come out of lock down and be on a high level with rules in place rather than a free for all come December. The UK and NI make me nervous with their relaxed attitude. Although dh did try to explain to me when I questioned why Tony was upset with the figures, I assumed with the cases down we were doing well, but seemily all is not what it seems to be. I'll never understand science 😂

The one thing I'm missing is Penny's, I probably shop there once a year, but for some reason all my kids socks have disintegrated, penny's are the only ones who sell big thick socks. I've tried buying online, actually now we have enough to open a sock shop, but every sock that arrived was so thin you could see through them.

Nyancat · 20/11/2020 11:56

It just makes no sense that we don't have a whole island approach. It just seems that the failure to take a whole island approach is far more to do with tribal political ideology rather than the health and welfare of the people here. That the DUP used their veto, which is supposed to prevent sectarian discrimination, to overrule the other parties views on continuing lockdown absolutely astounds me, though I don't know why it should because the whole thing is a shambles.

EmeraldShamrock · 20/11/2020 12:35

They definitely should have come together for a whole Island approach.

Me too. DD has outgrown her pj's she has spd Penny's sell fluffy pyjamas without a big front logos sewn on or elasticated ends.

Nyancat · 20/11/2020 13:52

Ours is open for the next week - you can send me orders and I'll post them to you Grin

Nyancat · 20/11/2020 13:55

Though I maintain that Primark is a poor substitute for Penney's

eggandonion · 20/11/2020 14:28

I am stuck with dunnes I think, I can't face Penneys.
The rte leaving party would have made me nervous, I'm fed up wearing a mask in work but I do it.

How could the RTE people have a party ?
What planet are they on ?
They've interviewed the top medics/ scientists, they know what's expected. What's needed.
They've seen Golfgate and its consequences.
They can't question SF about that funeral with (faux) indignation if they've been partying themselves.

AND

Apparently Ryanair, according to Joe Duffy , wouldn't comment on the awful flight to Malaga experienced by a listener.
That crowd will be back next week.
🙄🙄🙄

thelegohooverer · 20/11/2020 18:51

The RTE party really lends credence to the hoax theories.

LadyEloise · 20/11/2020 19:13

???

Lipz · 20/11/2020 19:15

Those pictures of the RTE party are disgusting!! They are trying now to play it down saying it was a wide space and only a few of them. I'm so sick of following rules and arses like these having a party, jesus I'd love a party, jesus I'd love to see my family. I've 2 sheilding since March who haven't been anywhere but the street outside and then you get fuckers having a party and flaunting it. It's clear from the pictures that there is more than a few of them, miriam is practically mauling half of them. Why is it one rule for us Joe soaps and another for all these so called celebs. Meehole didn't even seem bothered when being interviewed by virgin!! That stupid smirk on his face, he better step up and grow some balls and deal with it, not like golf gate hoping it goes away.

eggandonion · 20/11/2020 19:41

Virgin should use Sean O'Rourke, at least we weren't Level Five when he ate his dinner.
I am so fed up avoiding people on the footpath, and dancing around the few people I see in work. I'd like an impromptu party with balloons, but I am waiting for the vaccine!

I've lost so much faith in David McCullough after those photos. Always thought he was, well, dependable.. down to earth.. reliable even.
But after delivering the news and interviewing so many people that know what's best for us, he goes to a leaving party and poses for photos ... its sickening .
The other staff members in the public eye that attended are sickening as well.. no masks either..
AMS it wasn't "impromptu " as Claire Byrnes programme tried to claim earlier on the radio.. there's personalised banners, balloons and cake.. that took planning.

EmeraldShamrock · 20/11/2020 22:17

The rte photos are a joke. Angry

7Days · 21/11/2020 08:58

I cant believe that.
The lack of common sense that the photos would get out, even, never mind the actual virus

LadyEloise · 21/11/2020 09:41

It certainly wasn't impromptu, I agree, @halfpasteleven.
The retiree was dressed up. The area was decorated.
Eileen Dunne appeared to be one of the few "famous" names to keep her distance when being photographed.

I wonder who leaked the photos ?

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 21/11/2020 11:56

I haven't seen the pictures. I think I would blow a fuse if I did. Honestly...

Radyward · 21/11/2020 17:50

Tbh the rte photos just showed what goes on when the cameras are off. You can't eradicate or erase human interaction
It's been a pipe dream of NPHET to think human nature wouldn't get in the way of what was there aim the flattening of the curve. Who do rte think they are fooling - treating the public like stupid idiots .it was momentary the lack of masks and distancing in the photos-yeah right
It's like as soon as the teens are outta school,
No masks or distancing because it's just not normal or normal behaviours!!! Micheal martin acting like the vaccine is some sort of miracle- in the laps of big pharma disgusts me. I am however delighted vaccine has been developed.will I be at the top of the q - absolutely not. But if I was over 75 with underlying conditions. Then absolutely yes.
I absolutely hate life now.the control/covid shaming ,the finger wagging. My business is now everyone's business.ill live my life and you can live yours
Got my haircut by a friend and am delighted
We are dealing with an airborne virus which is out of control and we just have to live with it !! The govt are useless
No clear plan
Some industries thrown under a bus.no word on lonelinessor mental health issues.not a word about NY other illness save for covid. Fudging of figures- a controlled narrative we are being fed and I for one am sick of it. I'm not some sheep. Questions need asking but you can forget RTE who are cash poor and need govt.money
So the public has done their bit and are still doing it . Not a word of praise for families doing all they can. Not seeing one another for months just more and more nphet negativity. People must be on the floor with depression .I'm so.looking forward to 2021

eggandonion · 21/11/2020 20:28

We have a Christmas tree in town, in a small green area. This evening I was passing on my way home, it was full of family groups, kids playing and adults chatting in a non socially distant unmasked way. Normality is tempting, I imagine after a few glasses of rte wine people revert to being luvvies.

I think people are just fed up. Nothing seems to be working. The numbers rise then fall and rise again despite level 3, despite l.5. Despite face masks etc. Counties are up and down the chart like yo yos. Your county could have the most cases one week and a week later be at the bottom.

I miss having tea, cake and a chat with friends. I miss going shopping in a larger town just for a change of scenery. I'm crying over nothing and I'm eating my weight in chocolate biscuits, which gives me sinus infections and so I eat more to make myself feel better.
I need saving.
Mind you binge eating has always been a problem for me. Blush

I wonder will there be spikes in the Rathkeale and Montrose areas in a couple of weeks.
God, talk about opposite ends of the social scale.

And the rest of us poor piggies, doing our best in the middle.

I think that is down to non compliance some people don't care or take it seriously.
We are suppose to wear masks to the school, I've counted I'd say 70% aren't wearing them.
Thankfully most are while shopping.
I saw a local ladies baby shower photos online the expectant DM has lupus she is very overweight 8 months pregnant smiling huddled with 10 friends. 🤦‍♀️
