I’m actually worrying about what it will be like when they roll out the vaccine. They are saying that the cases they’re seeing now are a new strain that came in from summer holiday travelling. They’re saying that mink all over Europe have a new strain.
How can a vaccine protect if it’s changing so fast? And if people are this blasé now, what will it be like when they think they’re safely vaccinated?

Lipz Flowers it sounds like hell. Huge sympathy here. I can absolutely understand why you’d end up crying in the shop, you poor thing.

I’ve had to go to A&E three times and each time I worried that I would end up catching it sitting for hours in overcrowded, unventilated waiting rooms with people taking their masks off to shout into their phones or wearing them under their stupid noses. One of the triage nurses was coughing continuously while quizzing me about whether I’d a fever or been travelling. I wanted to ask her the same thing.

Re the Crumlin apt, what would happen if you said you had covid, but we’re bringing her in anyway because you can’t wait 2 more years? I’m not suggesting you should, but they must have enough flexibility in the system to re-make appointments or they’d be facing this problem continuously. Challenge their logic! But I know, you get so tired of having to always fight for everything. It’s exhausting.

Oh sorry I did laugh about the nurse and you wanting to ask her. A&E is a hell hole the best of times, I hope you were /are OK.

I rang crumlin, expressed my views/concerns (nicely) asked if they could be sure it was safe, they said one parent or guardian to keep numbers down, sure we can never be sure and that I can wait 18-24 months for another appointment.

This is a new appointment, another serious illness for dd which will result in many surgeries and this will also be with her for life, so have to go and take that risk. Other clinics have been doing virtual appointments but I guess it's more follow up.

Dd can't even wear a mask, crumlin is manky the best of times.

Oh lads- the SuperValu Christmas ad... I've just seen it I actually cried...
Thinking of how it's going to be a very different Christmas this year

TheKeatingFive · 12/11/2020 18:55

Oh lads- the SuperValu Christmas ad

Take that Tony Grin

LadyEloise · 13/11/2020 00:18

Why are the numbers re Covid19 in the North so high ?

EmeraldShamrock · 13/11/2020 10:17

Me too. I sobbed dreading this Christmas.

Why are the numbers re Covid19 in the North so high ?
I think many believe is a hoax judging by the DUP's response "we won't be told how to behave" It is all defiance and stupidity IMO.
If Arlene had her way lockdown would be over today.

Lipz · 13/11/2020 14:53

OMG the supervalu one is a sad one 😭😭😭😭😭 wasn't expecting that, thought he was asking about Santa... Long time since an ad gave me shock, sad and happy all at the same time.

thelegohooverer · 13/11/2020 18:23

That hurt. Sad our Christmas is going to be the opposite.

halfpasteleven · 13/11/2020 21:30

It's a long time since any Christmas ad made me cry. Like proper cry.

Like a PP said, it was more a sad feeling that it turned out to be the grandad.. I really hope my children see their grandad for Christmas this year, but at the moment I can't be sure of it happening..

Zixxy · 13/11/2020 23:09

There is no chance that people will refuse to visit their loved ones at Christmas. None, and Gov know this too.

A few rules will prevail but most will ignore them. I suppose there will not be the huge gatherings, but discreet get togethers will be done I think.

hopeishere · 13/11/2020 23:41

@LadyEloise

Why are the numbers re Covid19 in the North so high ?
Because they were so low the first time people were totally complacent. Lots of house parties and household mixing. Non essential retail still open.

DUP like to be seen as the party aligned to the economy despite the fact they are totally fucking it up. Diane Dodds is so far our of her comfort zone it's embarrassing.

Health service is utterly fucked. I've joined Bupa.

LadyEloise · 15/11/2020 15:03

Are the non essential shops open in Northern Ireland ?
Primark and the like ?

MsMamaNature · 15/11/2020 16:03

Pretty much everywhere is open in the North ( including Primark!! )

mrsfeatherbottom · 15/11/2020 22:25

@LadyEloise

Are the non essential shops open in Northern Ireland ? Primark and the like ?
Yes! Restaurants and coffee shops are take away only. Shops are all open. Beauticians and hairdressers are closed.
Andi2020 · 15/11/2020 22:46

They should have closed shops in ni earlier and left hair and beauty open less people and people from south would not need to travel to North

Covidcovidcovid · 16/11/2020 20:49

Shops open and packed with Southern cars - all island approach is what should have been done

Andi2020 · 16/11/2020 21:39

@Covidcovidcovid too late now to close shops in Ni

hopeishere · 17/11/2020 19:27

Yes all shops open. But not busy. I was in Belfast today and it was not at all busy.

Predicting another lockdown before Christmas.

mrsfeatherbottom · 18/11/2020 09:52

Awful news about Dublin Zoo. Such a great place. Might ask ILs to get us annual passes for Christmas as a family present but it's not cheap! €190

7Days · 18/11/2020 10:40

I missed the news about the Zoo, what happened?

EmeraldShamrock · 18/11/2020 11:27

My niece & pals travelled to Newry for a shopping trip.
Her DM is forcing her to quarantine now she said no one was wearing a mask.
I hoped the gardai would stop the bus but no they'd no issues travelling. Confused

Iblinkedandiamold · 18/11/2020 12:45

Norma Foley is like that teacher who keeps the class in till the very last second when the bell rings on a Friday.
Initially I thought teachers were looking for an extra off or something not 2 freaking days.
Let schools close on the Friday before Christmas. Kids and staff are exhausted already.

TheKeatingFive · 18/11/2020 13:11

Mehole says he’ll look after the zoo. Wink

mrsfeatherbottom · 18/11/2020 13:57

I'll take the red pandas!
