Dr Tony is returning to us next week!

Zeebeezee · 01/10/2020 16:28

eggandonion,

I've been following the situ in Ireland now and then. I hope his wife is OK for now it's been tough for sure.

But AFAIS that's it, Dublin Donegal and wherever there is a spike will be in lockdown until the snowdrops push up!

pinkhousesarebest · 01/10/2020 16:35

Didn't realise this thread was here, how useful for us. We live on mainland Europe and our son has been admitted to Galway uni. He has defereed a bit but will be going, after quarantine in November. Does anyone know how Unis are coping? Is there anyone there? We have just paid an eyewatering amount for student accomodation - I would love to have some bang for my buck.

Though I am worried about his health obviously. But I have to weigh up the pros and cons. He hasn't left the house since July.
eggandonion · 01/10/2020 16:35

I thought Cork a d a few other counties would be in lockdown. Although it takes about three hours to get from castletownbere to youghal!

turkeyboots · 01/10/2020 16:43

Galway student were on the news for their large gatherings and parties this week. So may be a shock to your DS Pinkhouses

eggandonion · 01/10/2020 17:04

Most students are currently online only, if courses don't have a practical element. I was in the area round the colleges in Cork today and they were really quiet, normally at this point they would be busy.
I don't think it's possible to predict a month ahead, in terms of figures and possible lockdown. I don't know the situation re accomodation if travel isn't allowed between Ireland and other countries. Keep in touch!

Workers in Irish hospitals.
The app ye have and have had for ages do ye have to turn it off when ye are at work?

Whenismumhome · 02/10/2020 12:40

Does anyone here think there will actually be another full lockdown applied to the whole of Northern Ireland?

Diane Dodds has said we couldn’t afford another one which is true but it’s just the way Robin Swann keeps saying there may be tougher restrictions to come.

Really do not want another lockdown Sad

mrsfeatherbottom · 02/10/2020 13:06

I wonder @Whenismumhome if that will do this 2 week circuit breaker thing they keep talking about at Halloween? Surely businesses just can't afford it.

LadyEloise · 02/10/2020 13:18

DH here thinks we will have full lockdown here in Dublin.
Angryat the stupid people not bothering.
I know of two people lately whose jobs are gone because of Covid.

Whenismumhome · 02/10/2020 13:34

I hope not. I know the numbers are sky high but the thought of being fully restricted again is just depressing
Taytocrisps · 02/10/2020 14:22

934 new cases in NI!

eggandonion · 02/10/2020 14:25

Whattttt!!!!
Dear God, that's horrendous.

Taytocrisps · 02/10/2020 14:29

Between the Trumps and the NI figures, this all seems like a very weird dream.

Whenismumhome · 02/10/2020 14:35

@Taytocrisps

934 new cases in NI!
Just seen that. Oh my God. I’d be really surprised if we don’t have another lockdown coming
Whenismumhome · 02/10/2020 14:35

I wish we could go back to having only 2-3 cases per day, obviously I’d prefer if it was 0 per day but have to be realistic

Taytocrisps · 02/10/2020 14:42

@Whenismumhome I know. I remember during lockdown there was the odd day when the ROI figure for the day was 0 cases and we were hoping we'd defeated it. We were so naive!

halcyondays · 02/10/2020 14:49

That’s shocking, it really is.
Robin Swann said the other day when asked if there’d be a circuit breaker at Halloween, that it would be a case of if they could hold out that long.

Whenismumhome · 02/10/2020 15:02

Definitely! I remember at the very start of all this back in March I was so naive thinking this would all be over by the end of June.

How wrong was I.

Whenismumhome · 02/10/2020 15:06

@halcyondays

That’s shocking, it really is. Robin Swann said the other day when asked if there’d be a circuit breaker at Halloween, that it would be a case of if they could hold out that long.
I was honestly hoping all that talk about circuit breakers and another full scale lockdown was just them being silly and that this wouldn’t get as bad as this.

Sadly it seems like it really will happen

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 02/10/2020 15:13

That's a shockingly high number for the north.

Whenismumhome · 02/10/2020 15:15

@IsFuzzyBeagMise

That's a shockingly high number for the north.
It’s absolutely dreadful. I don’t think it was ever as high as this when this all started.

I remember when we were getting about 20 cases per day and I thought that was high!

Nannyamc · 02/10/2020 15:43

Very worrying cases for NI. Watching sky news and no mention of it more worried about Trump.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 02/10/2020 16:08

I think the number of daily cases in the south was in the nine hundreds at its peak.

If Trump wasn't in the news, they might have made more of it.

Whenismumhome · 02/10/2020 16:44

Feels like this bloody pandemic will never end Sad
