Ringing, not rising.

mummabear1967 · 21/09/2020 18:05

@halcyondays

All NI under new restrictions from 6p.m tomorrow. No households to mix indoors except where a till’s rising I suppose.
It’s a fucking joke. I can’t go to my sister’s house yet I can book a table at a restaurant with her. Just makes no sense
321mamma · 21/09/2020 18:31

What does that mean for indoor gatherings like socially distanced sports competitions that were scheduled next weekend with maximum of 50? Are these to be cancelled or exempt?

LadyEloise · 21/09/2020 20:09

It's maddening to think there are people flagrantly disobeying the "rules".
The ravers in the Oliver Bond flats in Dublin. Despite residents calling the police from early evening , nothing was done. The residents had to just put up with it.
I would be raging if I lived there ( I love my sleep, never mind Covid ).
The supporters of that GAA team in Tyrone. How to ensure spectators won't be allowed in to future matches !!!
The rave at the farm ( in Wicklow, I think ).
Selfish fe*kers, the lot of them.

LadyEloise · 21/09/2020 20:24

Apologies, the rave was at a farm in Meath. The farmer said, when interviewed that it was people of a particular nationality who were at the rave.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 21/09/2020 20:46

I can't understand why those raves weren't broken up? Isn't that what the new legislation is for?

eggandonion · 21/09/2020 22:09

The Irish times report on the farm rave was fascinating, they emphasized how tidy the site was left. If Tidy Towns did raves...

TheKeatingFive · 21/09/2020 22:27

What the actual fuck is the point in laying down ‘guidelines’ and not enforcing them? This government is the biggest bunch of spineless wonders going. They have no place running this country - it’s gone far beyond a joke now.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 21/09/2020 22:44

I know, eggandonion. What the actual ...?!
And they broke it up (Dublin) and then it started again?!?

eggandonion · 21/09/2020 23:50

The farm one was interesting because a combine harvester could only get into the field during low tide. The article was full of details!

Iblinkedandiamold · 22/09/2020 07:06

The farm rave gave me mixed emotions. I was raging reading about it then I got to the bit where they cleaned up and I was impressed. Maybe it was a socially distanced farm rave. Grin
I have no idea why the fact they cleaned up even mattered.

LadyEloise · 22/09/2020 09:21

I know the world contains stupid, selfish people but I didn't know so many lived in Ireland. Sad

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 22/09/2020 11:08

There is a confirmed case in one of the secondary schools in our town. Here we go.

JaneJeffer · 22/09/2020 18:52

Back to the hedge schools now.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 22/09/2020 20:14

Good idea Grin

Iblinkedandiamold · 22/09/2020 21:40

Confirmed cases in my town. Apparently there was a party. Some very angry people here now. Just as well I'm antisocial and go from work to home and back again.

thelegohooverer · 22/09/2020 21:53

Can’t believe I’m asking this question but I’m not getting out very much these days. Are shops accepting cash, or is it only cards?

Quarterback11 · 22/09/2020 22:11

Any shop I've been in took cash.

McDonald's had a card only machine for ordering, I'm not sure if you could have paid cash at the counter.

JaneJeffer · 22/09/2020 22:22

Dunnes took my cash last week.

thelegohooverer · 23/09/2020 04:07

Thanks. Good to know.

LadyEloise · 23/09/2020 09:04

Tesco took cash yesterday.

Lipz · 23/09/2020 17:58

Great to see low numbers today.

EarlofEggMcMuffin · 23/09/2020 20:20

Yes, always good to see them heading down.
I'm in one of the counties threatened with Level 3 restrictions again.
People have started being v careful again in shops and at work.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 23/09/2020 20:38

That's good to hear. I'm in Cork where there are increased cases. We got a birthday party invitation involving a bouncy castle for this weekend Hmm

SionnachRua · 23/09/2020 22:28

@JaneJeffer dunno about hedge schools but I did see this on the news Grin Looks lovely but I dunno how practical it will be?

www.rte.ie/news/2020/0921/1166569-top-marks-for-outdoor-classroom-in-co-wicklow/

Amazing view though. You could probably stick it on Daft and charge €1200 for a 'rustic lifestyle'.

Not surprised about the birthday invite unfortunately Fuzzy. A rake of kids in my school went off on sleepovers last weekend! Same people who'd been pestering us about pods!

It must be hard when you've to turn it down (somewhat politely I presume Wink ) and explain why to your kid.
