I cant wait to see this year in reeling in the years.

7Days · 04/05/2020 00:01

Bloody yes iblinkedandiamold
Cant wait for the 2010s one, it must be out soon. I remember thinking in 2011 it looked like there would be a lot to fit in. And Jesus now look at us!!

Inniu · 04/05/2020 01:18

I have such a first world pandemic shortage problem. I have the hand sanitizers, the flour and the toilet roll but I can’t get Aperol anywhere.
I'll have to drink my bubbles straight!

Dk20 · 04/05/2020 07:47

@inniu
First world problem here too, I want to get ds(6) a bike but not sure if theres anywhere that would deliver them at the minute.
He has asd and has really poor co ordination but had just learned to cycle without stabilisers, the bike was too small for him though and he cant use it anymore so I'd love to get one big enough for him so we can practise while were stuck at home.

Dk20 · 04/05/2020 08:57

I solved my own problem, smyths website are taking orders again this morning so have managed to order a bike for him Smile

NewAccountForCorona · 04/05/2020 10:29

I have a first world problem too. I ordered a mini paint roller and some sleeves for it. They've arrived this morning (yes on a bank holiday). And the sleeves don't fit the roller Sad

No wonder they were the only ones in stock on Amazon when I ordered them three bloody weeks ago.

My life has become so uninteresting.

NewAccountForCorona · 04/05/2020 10:32

Jaysus, have you all seen the other Irish thread - I've just caught up as it's gone just slightly off topic Confused

Inniu · 04/05/2020 11:20

DK20 that’s great he is cycling at such a young age.
My DS, also ASD, was 8 before he mastered cycling.

Dk20 · 04/05/2020 11:25

@newaccount do you have Amazon prime? Delivery should be way faster than that.
I saw the other Irish thread the other night but didn't start following. I love this thread as everyone is so friendly, we can say what we are thinking without anyone arguing with us

ElspethFlashman · 04/05/2020 12:40

Yeah yer wan has taken it over. A pure crank. Loads of them here on MN, there'll always be some other eejit feeding it and they go on and on.

ElspethFlashman · 04/05/2020 12:46

Btw I went to Dunnes yesterday for the first time since this started. I've only been to Aldi since.

I had to get clothes for the kids so I mooched around the clothes section and felt actually normal for the first time in weeks! Look at me, browsing! Like back in the day! Ah God I almost got emotional. Got faux Crocs for the kids and they're pure shite but I was so grateful to get them! It's amazing how happy you get for such small things. I got new knickers! Joy of joys!!!

The markings was actually very good and everyone was definitely avoiding each other, even in the food part afterwards. It's probably the best I've come across that way and I definitely felt safer than in Aldi. Shame it's pricier or I'd go all the time.

EarlofEggMcMuffin · 04/05/2020 13:03

Oh thank god for a voice of reason Elspeth.
That thread has gone a bit bonkers- I feel a bit sorry for the poster, as she sounds v unhappy.

Passed our local Dunnes (clothes) on Saturday, and it was weird that it felt weird....just people popping in to get their shopping.
Normal is now strange.

Iblinkedandiamold · 04/05/2020 14:00

Just read that other thread. It derailed fast, although I do agree about sexual assault. When I started going to nightclubs fellas would out their hands up your skirt or grab a boob as you went past, bouncers would eye you up as you walked in, baring in mind I was not legally old enough to go and they knew it. At the time it was normal. Now when I look back I shudder.
Although if I caught the fella doing it they'd get a wallop from me or I'd squeeze their dick a little too hard. Grin they'd then call you a bitch or frigid and I'd say something back about them being ugly.
Ah Ireland in the 90's.

I'm worried about having to go back into society again. Having to get up at 6.30am for work and actually having to get dressed in proper clothes not gym wear all day.

NewAccountForCorona · 04/05/2020 14:43

I don't think it's changed, much, blinked, talking to my kids. Conversations between dd and ds in the aftermath of the Ulster Rugby rape case were eyeopening. He simply hadn't notice what she put up with all the time. Thankfully, he's a lot more aware now and (I hope) is a much better person for it.

ElspethFlashman · 04/05/2020 14:51

Ah stop sure the story's about the Wesley disco back in the day in Dublin would turn your hair white. But I imagine it's the same the Western world over, at least parents are getting more clued in.

NewAccountForCorona · 04/05/2020 15:26

DK20, getting back to my first world problem, Amazon Prime is no use to me - Amazon is completely out of mini paint rollers! At least ones they'll post to Ireland.

Anyway, I'm afraid of my postman. I ordered 11 small items from Amazon, they were all ordered in one order, they are coming in 8 different packages Shock. He'll hate me by the end of the week.

LadyEloise · 04/05/2020 15:54

Whats the other Irish thread ?

Iblinkedandiamold · 04/05/2020 16:02

My first world problem is I have loads of food but nothing to eat.
@LadyEloise Newaccount but a link a few posts up.

Iblinkedandiamold · 04/05/2020 16:45

My DS has experienced some of this too, older woman fawning over him saying things like "if I was ten or twenty years younger"
He said he thought it was funny but also made him feel a little uncomfortable and not just because he had a girlfriend. I've also seen male sailors and flight attendants being harassed. Some of them seemed to like it on the outside anyway but some were clearly embarrassed and just wanted to get away. It mainly came from big groups of women more than likely on hens nights. No-one is safe these days.

eggandonion · 04/05/2020 17:40

Has anyone watched Normal People?
My dd2 and her friends (one is gay) used to go to a gay nightclub which had a section for people who just wanted to dance without being molested by drunk men. Later she had a cleaning job in a frightfully nice bar with a late licence - lots of suggestive comments by thirty something married men, and a lot of vomit in the ladies.
But I used to get hassle in work when I was young and quiet - I hope my dds have enough gumption to tell them where to go.
The older one is still a bit too keen on cocktails in nightclubs for my liking to be honest.

Iblinkedandiamold · 04/05/2020 17:44

I binged watch Normal people. I loved it. I'm nearly finished Ozark too, hoping to be able to watch Gangs of London after Ozark. Lots of binge watching going on here when I get bored listening to RTE gold.

7Days · 04/05/2020 17:48

I think it would be unusual for men to have the visceral tightening of fear from harassment that women get. Discomfort, disgust, anger sure, for both sexes. But I think girls have that extra twist of fear.

ElspethFlashman · 04/05/2020 17:50

How are ye binging Normal People? A few others have too. Am I the only eejit watching it week by week? Grin

7Days · 04/05/2020 18:09

I believe Normal People is a class of a nudie thing.

They're coming from Gdansk to see it

eggandonion · 04/05/2020 19:10

We're watching it weekly, and I'm glad my children were never like that.(God knows what they got up to!)
