I think in regard to the 2k it mostly means don't deliberately go more than 2k, so it rules out car journeys. I walk the dog; if that takes me more than 2k away it doesn't really matter - I would seldom walk much further than 5k in a circle anyway.

eggandonion · 19/04/2020 12:05

My Dd and boyfriend are 5 km apart, if we extend distance to 2.5km they could walk to the limit and wave at each other. They had various trips planned, all my kids did.
2km radius gives quite a good range, but our local nice walk has narrow paths so is blocked off.

Iblinkedandiamold · 19/04/2020 12:12

My sister and I had planned summer and weekend walks and mountain climbing. We had planned a few days over the summer climbing carrauntoohil with my brothers and sisters in law and going to a spa.
New account, great advice, I will try that thanks very much.

One fifth of each class coming in each day could work.

eggandonion · 19/04/2020 13:03

I hope you can work it out blinked, not asking questions is usually the best way to find out answers with young adults.

LightACandleHoney · 19/04/2020 14:17

Oh do you know; I love that! Was the app put together by the government or was it an outside organisation? How very civilised and so helpful!

Just saw on BBC news that Matt Damon’s in Dalkey - hope he’s being left alone

eggandonion · 19/04/2020 14:31

I don't know who created the app but I think we had access to it as soon as the 2km was introduced.
Matt in Dalkey is the oddest thing, he has a super valu bag and wanders around. I imagine dalkey would be nice to wander in.
Where are you in the north, my in-laws are north down but not the gold coast!

LightACandleHoney · 19/04/2020 14:59

North Down here too! Costa Del County Down Wink

eggandonion · 19/04/2020 15:07

In-laws are crossnacreevy area and outside saintfield. Dh, native of co down, was moaning about the Drumlins last year.

This concert thing's a bit boring. I thought it would be a lot better. Waiting for the Irish acts.

eggandonion · 19/04/2020 21:25

Two hours waiting for niall. No niall. Disgrace. Not even hosier who has an annoying name.

AngelaScandal · 19/04/2020 21:49

Apparently a NY Times journo was fishing around the Dalkey Residents Association fb page wanting firsthand accounts of Damon in Dalkey. They gave her short shrift.

Iblinkedandiamold · 19/04/2020 22:12

@eggandonion. It was like one long trocaire ad. No Irish acts. So disappointed.

eggandonion · 19/04/2020 23:28

Matt Damon is one of us now, like niall horan. I hope we can keep him safe from snooping press.

7Days · 20/04/2020 00:31

His togs in a supervalu bag.Grin loved that.

ElspethFlashman · 20/04/2020 08:56

That Facebook group was hilarious.

Someone said "Actually it may be said that it is Dalkey that has graced Matt Damon with it's presence"

GrinGrinGrin

Iblinkedandiamold · 20/04/2020 09:45

I've heard he's become one of them now. A Dalkey resident. They dont look twice low when see him out. They just greet him like they would anyone else. Grin

ManorMouse · 20/04/2020 11:44

Matt Damon is one of us now

All we need do is come up with a nationwide elaborate hoax to pretend that the Corona Virus lockdown is going on for years and years so he can't leave.

Or perhaps the real Corona Virus will do the job for us.

LadyEloise · 20/04/2020 12:14

I'd love to live in Dalkey .

Wanders off.

Iblinkedandiamold · 20/04/2020 12:18

Dalkey isnt a bad place to be trapped in in fairness. It's a nice area. I could never afford to live there. Maybe when I win the lottery I'll buy a little house there. Smile

ElspethFlashman · 20/04/2020 12:24

I rented there for 3 years.

Feck, it was lovely. Really really nice. Lovely pubs. That whole Sandycove-Dalkey bit is gorgeous. And on the DART too, so quite handy for town.

I envied people who could buy there so much.

eggandonion · 20/04/2020 12:42

Maybe he'll buy a pad there. Does Pat Kenny live in Dalkey? Is that where he's always sorting out some neighbourhood land issue? And U2 people? And David McWilliams? I wonder if the fancy Dalkey people have a private Whatsapp group and remind each other when bin day changes.
It's like Kinsale for Cork, lots of lovely pubs and cafes. I think it would be more lively though.

magicstar1 · 20/04/2020 12:44

For the posters talking about taxing the €350....have you checked that you've been taxed correctly? I work in payroll, and luckily we're just working from home and getting paid as normal. But DH is being paid the 350 plus a top up from his employer. The 350 is non-taxable...so he's getting a refund each week and will have to repay it at the end of the year. He's coming out with more money than he ever would normally at the moment.

LadyEloise · 20/04/2020 13:46

I think David Mc Williams lives in Dun Laoire but he and his wife run the Dalkey literary festival I think.
